ABC’s freshman series Once Upon a Time came to Comic-Con as TV’s highest rated new drama and entertained their growing fan base.  The presentation opened up with an extended sequence of the title cards used over the last season, each of which features a nod to which character or fairy tale will be featured in that episode.  The panel, which included creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, also talked about characters and storylines in the upcoming second season.  Stars attending included Jennifer Morrison, Josh Dallas, Ginnifer Goodwin, Lana Parilla, Meghan Ory and Emilie de Ravin. WARRIOR Review

The performances and well-choreographed fights are the main event of Warrior, a mixed martial arts drama that delivers counter-punches to the numerous cliches that continuously crop up. Raw emotion and rare truths are explored in this flawed film helmed by writer-director Gavin O’Connor. Equal parts testosterone-filled entertainment and a story of redemption and forgiveness, Warrior has a curious based-on-a-true-story feel. The film isn’t shy about giving you a story, clocking in at 139 minutes, and it’s that devotion to plot and background that will help it cut open a broader audience than the standard fight drama. There are hurdles to overcome as an audience, but the reward is a gritty bit of truth in an unlikely and fun package. Hit the jump for my full review.

We’ve got a few casting stories for you tonight. First up, Jamie Chung has joined Rob Lowe in the dark political flick Knife Fight, with Julie Bowen, Connie Britton, Jennifer Morrison, Rebecca Mader and Titus Welliver all in talks to join the cast. And yes, that’s three actors from Lost in one movie (Bowen, Mader and Welliver). Lowe plays a political crisis specialist who plays hard and tough in dealing with various October campaign surprises.

Variety reports that Chung will play his assistant, Bowen plays an ambitious TV reporter sleeping with Lowe’s character for scoops, Britton plays an earthy liberal eyeing a run for public office, Welliver plays a private investigator working for Lowe, Mader plays a masseuse/prostitute with a penchant for blackmail and Morrison plays one of her classmates. Bill Guttentag is directing, with production set to start next month with an eye towards an October 2012 release date, just in time for election season. Hit the jump for news on the casting of Joey King as China Girl in Sam Raimi’s Oz, The Great and Powerful and Katrina Bowden in American Reunion.

Trailer for WARRIOR Starring Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton

Lionsgate has released a trailer for the upcoming mixed martial arts fighting drama Warrior.  Directed by Gavin O’Connor (Miracle) the film stars Tom Hardy (Inception) and Joel Edgerton (Animal Kingdom) as brothers fighting for the mixed martial arts championship.  I like the idea of a Rocky story where we follow both fighters into the ring and both their causes are valid (although the trailer makes it look like Edgerton is really the protagonist).  Unfortunately, this trailer takes you through almost the entire movie to the point where I’m a little surprised that it doesn’t go ahead and reveal the champion.

Hit the jump to see the trailer and for a full synopsis.  The film also stars Nick Nolte, Jennifer Morrison, and Frank Grillo.  Warrior opens September 9th.

When we brought you the first image from Gavin O’ Connor’s (Pride and Glory) Warrior almost one year ago, there was minimal buzz surrounding the film.  Flash-forward to the present and Warrior is a “Tom Hardy film.”  Now, thanks to Lionsgate sending us some updated information, we know that Warrior is a “Tom Hardy film” that will be released later this year on September 9th.

Briefly, Warrior tells the story of a troubled ex-marine (Hardy) who returns to his hometown.  While there, he faces obstacles regarding his broken family while preparing to fight in an MMA tournament.  To check out a detailed synopsis as well as a hi-res image from the film, hit the jump.  In addition to Hardy, Warrior also stars Nick Nolte, Noah Emmerich (The Truman Show), Joel Edgerton (Smokin’ Aces), and Jennifer Morrison (Star Trek).

Jennifer Morrison Joins HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER for Extended Story Arc

Perhaps the longest story anyone has ever told about meeting their significant other continues this year with the sixth season of How I Met Your Mother. The show is about as far as I’ll delve into the laugh track sitcom stylings of network television (simply because Neil Patrick Harris and Jason Siegel are just so damn great on it), but now it looks like the show may finally be moving towards the meat of the story that the series’ title promises. EW has learned that Jennifer Morrison (House M.D.) will be joining this coming season of the show for an extended story arc and it’s quite the big deal.

Executive producer Craig Thomas says her character is ““the biggest female character we’ve maybe ever added to the show in Ted’s life.” He goes on to say, “This is a big arc—a huge arc. It’s going to be a little less date-of-the-week for Ted, which season 5 was. This is going to be a big saga for Ted. [It's] going to be a big over-arching story that will take Ted on a journey that we’re really excited about.” So who exactly will Morison be playing? She’s a rabble-rousing activist who’s hell-bent on saving the Arcadian, an old New York hotel that’s scheduled to be torn down to make way for the Goliath National Bank tower—which Ted just so happens to be designing. That’s certainly a love story worth telling the kids about. We’ll see what happens when the new season kicks off on September 20th.
