We’ve got a couple of interesting casting stories to share this evening.  First up, it appears that a frequent collaborator of director Adam McKay and star Will Ferrell’s may be making an appearance in the upcoming sequel Anchorman: The Legend Continues.  Production on that film begins in Atlanta next week, and Bleeding Cool has a copy of a casting call sent to Atlanta agencies asking for people who look like John C. Reilly and have the same build as the actor.  It appears they’re attempting to nab a stand-in for Reilly, which means he’s most likely making at least a brief appearance in the follow-up.

If the first film’s bounty of familiar faces is any indication, I imagine this won’t be the last cameo appearance we hear about for Anchorman 2.  Hopefully they manage to keep at least a couple of them secret.  Hit the jump for casting news concerning Syriana writer/director Stephen Gaghan’s long-awaited follow-up film, Candy Store.

We’ve got a couple of casting stories to share this morning.  First up, the most-excellent Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) and the always-reliable John C. Reilly have been set to star in the zombie comedy Life After Beth.  Per a report in The Guardian (via The Playlist), Jeff Baena (I Heart Huckabees) will write and direct.  Though plot details on the original script are hard to come by at the moment, Plaza describes it as “a really fucked-up movie.”

Plaza has been killing it in smaller comedic roles over the past few years, not to mention her fantastic work on NBC’s stellar comedy Parks and Recreation, but she proved her talent in the drama realm as well with this year’s Sundance hit Safety Not Guaranteed.  The pairing of Plaza and Reilly sounds like a great match, and production on Life After Beth is reportedly set to start this spring.  Hit the jump for casting news concerning the crime drama Memorial Day

From director Rich Moore (The Simpsons, Futurama), the animated movie Wreck-It Ralph is an equal parts hilarious and adorable arcade adventure.  For 30 years, Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly) has been stuck in the role of bad guy while the good-guy star of Fix-It Felix Jr. (voiced by Jack McBrayer) always gets to save the day.  When Ralph leaves his game, he embarks on a hero’s journey that leads him to the candy-coated cart-racing game Sugar Rush, where he meets feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (voiced by Sarah Silverman), who not only becomes his first real friend, but who also gives him his chance to finally save the day.  The voice cast also includes Jane Lynch, Alan Tudyk, Mindy Kaling, Ed O’Neill, Dennis Haysbert, Joe Lo Truglio and Adam Carolla.

At the film’s press day, Collider spoke to actor John C. Reilly, in both a 1-on-1 and a roundtable interview, about how he came to voice Ralph, getting to root for the underdog, his reaction when he saw the world of the movie come together, the challenge of setting the right tone for the character, his video game period, the most surprising thing about getting involved with the movie, and how much he’d like to do voice-over work again.  Check out what he had to say after the jump.

WRECK-IT RALPH Review

The last time I saw a bait-and-switch like Wreck-It Ralph was, fittingly, the video game Brütal Legend.  The game was set up like an open-world action-adventure, and instead it was more of a lame real-time strategy game.  Wreck-It-Ralph isn’t quite the severe disappointment of Brütal Legend, but the movie takes its best quality—living in a video game world and all the cleverness that entails—and leaves it behind to play in a nice, but forgettable candy land.  There’s enough humor and sweetness (literally and figuratively) to make it worth a few of your quarters, but it doesn’t have much replay value.

You only have to wait a little over a week before you can see Rich Moore’s Wreck-It Ralph in theaters, but if that’s just too long to bear, we have two new behind-the-scenes featurettes to share with you today.  Both of them showcase commentary from the voice cast of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch, along with Moore himself.  One even touches on the excellent use of music throughout the film, from such artists as Skrillex and Owl City.  Both also show a bunch of new footage (keep an eye out for Easter eggs and nods to other famous gaming properties).

One of the greatest parts of Rich Moore’s Wreck-It Ralph (beside the excellent plot, pacing, cast, visuals, humor and heart) is the nostalgia for videogames spanning from the arcade era to modern day.  Now, Disney has released these “vintage” commercials for three video games found at Litwak’s Arcade and within the movie itself: Fix-It Felix, Jr.; Sugar Rush and Hero’s Duty.

Wreck-It Ralph, features the voices of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch and Alan Tudyk, opens November 2nd.  Hit the jump to watch the commercials and we’ll send you two quarters on your birthday!*

We have the first clip from Seal Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden to share with you today.  At nearly two minutes, the clip shows the Navy SEALS about to embark on the mission they’ve been training for: the attack on high value target, Osama Bin Laden. The feature-length dramatization from director John Stockwell (Into the Blue) stars Freddy Rodriquez, Xzibit, Cam Gigandet, Anson Mount, Kathleen Robertson, Eddie Kay Thomas and Kenneth Miller.   Seal Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden premieres on the National Geographic channel Sunday, November 4th at 8pm.  It will also be made available for streaming on Netflix a day after its premiere (just in time for Election Day!).

There’s also a new clip from Rich Moore’s animated feature, Wreck-It Ralph.  The new clip shows Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly) at his self-help group, Bad Guys Anonymous. Attempting to make him feel better about being bad are fellow antagonists Zangief, Clyde the Ghost, M. Bison, Neff, Dr. Eggman, Bowser and an axe-wielding zombie.  Wreck-It Ralph, also featuring the voices of Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch and Alan Tudyk, opens November 2nd.  Hit the jump to see the clips.

New Clips from WRECK-IT RALPH and PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4

Two new clips to share with you today: one comes from director Rich Moore’s animated arcade game homage, Wreck-It Ralph; the other hails from Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman’s Paranormal Activity 4.  The previously released clip from Wreck-It Ralph showed our titular hero (voiced by John C. Reilly) meeting Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman).  This time around, Ralph meets up with “Hero’s Duty” drill sergeant, Calhoun (Jane Lynch).  The Paranormal Activity 4 clip gives more frantic looks at creepy stuff like dead-eyed kids skulking about and a girl levitating off of her bed. So, there’s that.

Wreck-It Ralph, also featuring the voices of Jack McBrayer, Alan Tudyk, Mindy Kaling and Adam Carolla, opens November 2nd.  Paranormal Activity 4, starring Katie Featherson and Kathryn Newton, opens October 19th.  Hit the jump to see both clips.

Two of our most anticipated films of the last quarter of 2012 just so happen to be Sam Mendes’ Skyfall and Rich Moore’s Wreck-It Ralph.  Today, we have a new TV spot for the latest and greatest James Bond movie that features Bond (Daniel Craig), his antagonist Silva (Javier Bardem) and lots of guns and action.  Things get a bit more subdued in the first clip from Wreck-It Ralph, in which we see our titular hero, voiced by John C. Reilly, meeting Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman).

Skyfall, also starring Judi Dench, Benwhishaw, Helen McCrory, Ralph Fiennes, Berenice Marlohe and Naomie Harris, opens November 9th stateside.  The animated Wreck-It Ralph, which features the voices of Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch, Alan Tudyk, Ed O’Neill and Adam Carolla, opens a week earlier on November 2nd.  Hit the jump to see the new spots.

New International Trailer for WRECK-IT-RALPH

Disney has released a new international trailer for the upcoming animated film Wreck-It-RalphJohn C. Reilly voices the eponymous character, a plays a bad guy in the video game “Fix-It Felix”, who leaves the game so he can be the hero for once.  However, his actions end up causing chaos throughout the arcade world.  While other trailers and posters have been playing up the gaming references and cameos, this international trailer relies mostly on showing the story, and even reveals a few new plot points.  I wouldn’t say it necessarily spoils anything, but this might be the time the start unplugging from trailers and TV spots.

If you still want to see a bit more of the movie, you can check out the trailer after the jump.  The film also features the voices of Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, and Jane LynchWreck-It-Ralph opens in 3D on November 2nd.

New Full-Length Trailer for Disney’s WRECK-IT RALPH [Updated with Poster]

A new trailer for Disney’s gamer-centric animated film Wreck-It Ralph has been released.  The story centers on the eponymous bad guy (John C. Reilly) from the arcade game “Fix-It Felix Jr.” who decides he wants to be the hero, and escapes to other video game worlds.  There are some great jokes in this trailer (mostly involving Jack McBrayer’s Fix-It Felix), but also a few that land flat (poop jokes, really?).  The soundtrack is also a bit schizophrenic, but we get a look at quite a few new scenes that look really great. Ralph’s world-jumping allows for a varied palette of colors and character structures, and I’m really looking forward to seeing them up on the big screen.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer, and be sure to check out Steve’s very geek-friendly interview with director Rich Moore as well as our coverage from the film’s preview dayWreck-It Ralph also features the voices of Sarah Silverman and Jane Lynch and opens on November 2nd.  [Update: We've added a new poster after the jump.]
