Fox unveiled their new lineup for fall 2012 earlier this morning, and we recently posted full trailers for the network’s new comedy shows.  Now it’s time to take a look at Fox’s new dramas, and Kevin Williamson’s (Scream, The Vampire Diaries) serial killer series The Following is most certainly a standout.  The trailer is genuinely chilling, and Kevin Bacon stars as an FBI agent who is reeled back into the department after a notorious serial killer (James Purefoy) he put away years ago escapes from death row. The serial killer creates a network of communicating with other active serial killers in the country, thus creating quite the problem for Bacon’s character.  Sadly, the series doesn’t debut until midseason so we’ll have to wait a while to check out the full pilot, but I’m beyond intrigued by this trailer.

The other new Fox drama, The Mob Doctor, is decidedly less promising.  Jordana Spiro (My Boys) stars as a Chicago surgeon with a lifelong debt to the Southside mob.  I wasn’t particularly taken by any of the characters, but I presume the series could eventually prove promising.  Hit the jump to watch the trailers.

We’ve got a trio of TV casting stories to share with you this evening. First up, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (the Swedish one) star Michael Nyqvist has landed the villain role in ABC’s drama pilot Zero Hour. The show comes from Prison Break scribe Paul Scheuring and centers on a skeptics magazine editor who is pulled into “one of the most compelling conspiracies in human history.” ER vet Anthony Edwards is set to play the magazine editor, and THR reports that Nyqvist will play one of the villains at the heart of a global conspiracy. He’s a mercenary who shares a special connection to the show’s protagonist.

Nyqvist has already done the “foreign star takes on American villain role” bit in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, but Zero Hour will make his US television series debut. I’m a big fan of Edwards and the premise sounds interesting enough, so it’s safe to say I’m sold on checking out the pilot should ABC pick the show up to series. With Trespass set to wrap its nine-week shoot in Shreveport, Louisiana this weekend, we have a slew of new images from the film as well as quotes from Nicolas Cage, Nicole Kidman, and director Joel Schumacher to share with you today.  For those in the dark about the thriller, Trespass takes place over the course of one day and tells the story of a wealthy husband and wife (Cage & Kidman) who fall victim to a home invasion.  In addition to Cage and Kidman, the film also stars Cam Gigandet, Ben Mendelsohn, Jordana Spiro, and Liana Liberato.  It is currently looking at a 2011 release.

While it’s no secret that Schumacher has put out some clunkers in the past (I’m mostly looking at you, “Nipple Batman,” although I’ve heard less than stellar things about Twelve as well), it is equally true that the director has been responsible for solid offerings such as The Lost Boys and Falling Down.  This in mind, with every new Schumacher release, I find myself willing to give it a chance with the hope that he’ll make something with the type of lasting value his best films possess.  Though I wouldn’t say I’m waiting on pins and needles for Trespass, my approach here will be no different.

There was talk that the early pickups wouldn’t end with Undercovers over at NBC and the network responded in a big way today.  NBC ordered Outsourced, The Event, and Love Bites for the fall lineup.

Single-camera comedy Outsourced centers on “a customer service manager in Kansas city who’s sent to India to train his replacement when his department is outsourced.”  The high-octane conspiracy thriller The Event explores multiple points of view with a cast includes star Jason Ritter (Parenthood) and Emmy-winner Željko Ivanek (Damages).  Cindy Chupack (Sex and the City) developed the romantic anthology series Love Bites, which stars Becki Newton (Ugly Betty) and Jordana Spiro (My Boys) as single women among a sea of married friends.

I had a sneaking suspicion I would like “The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard”.  Yes, Jeremy Piven has become tiresome both with his stale Ari Gold character and his personal diva-like behavior in the public sphere.  But the film had a strong bench and when you surround yourself with reliable comic talent, you can get something really fantastic.

With “The Goods”, that’s an understatement.  Hit the jump to find out why this is one of the funniest comedies I’ve seen all year.
