It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen anything from Jack Black and Kyle Gass’ greatest rock band of all time, Tenacious D, but the dry spell has now come to an end. The duo has released a video chronicling their return and teasing their new album, Rize of the Fenix. The video begins with an Extra special covering the demise of Tenacious D following the box office failure of Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny, then brings on a slew of celebrity cameos (Val Kilmer! Dave Grohl! Josh Groban?) that help bring the band back to its former glory. It’s pretty funny and definitely worth your time, especially for the Val Kilmer awesomeness.
Hit the jump to watch the video. The band’s new album, Rize of the Fenix, will be released on May 15th.

The comedy website CollegeHumor has been p0sting quality original video content for some time now—many a clip has found its way to Collider. So it is with joy that we welcome CollegeHumor to the feature film business, as CH co-founder Ricky Van Veen sets up their first movie, Coffee Town. The cast features a few notable TV comedians, including Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Steve Little (Eastbound & Down), and Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation). Also Josh Groban, who has proven himself a perfectly capable comedic actor in Crazy Stupid Love and The Office. The script by director Brad Copeland (Wild Hogs) centers on underachieving thirtysomethings who “must come together when their freeloading existence is threatened.” More after the jump:

Warner Bros. has released the first image from director’s Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (I Love You Phillip Morris) Crazy, Stupid, Love which features Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, Emma Stone, Jonah Bobo John Carroll Lynch, Marisa Tomei, Kevin Bacon, Analeigh Tipton, Josh Groban, Liza Lapira, and Joey King. The premise is Steve Carell has been living the dream life (good job, nice house, great kids) when he finds out his wife wants a divorce. Since he’s been out of the dating scene for decades, he starts spending his time with a thirty something player (Ryan Gosling) and he becomes his wingman and protege. As you might imagine, comedy ensues.
While many of you missed I Love You Phillip Morris, it’s a gem that deserves your time. In addition, Ficarra and Requa wrote Bad Santa, so anyone thinking Crazy, Stupid, Love might be a cookie cutter Hollywood release, I think it’s safe to assume it won’t be. Personally, I can’t wait to check this out. I’d imagine a trailer will hit soon. Until then, hit the jump for the full synopsis and the image.

If you watch movies, you’re heard the music of James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmer. That’s because between the two of them, they’ve composed the music for over two hundred movies. Take a look at their IMDB pages. You’ll be blown away.
Anyway, the other night was the Saturn Awards and the two won for Best Music for “The Dark Knight”. After they won, I was able to speak with them for a few minutes backstage and after the jump is the interview. We talked about what winning meant to them, composing the music, and what they’re working on now.
