The cast for director Adam McKay’s sequel Anchorman: The Legend Continues has grown by two, even though production on the film is already underway in Atlanta.  Deadline reports that Greg Kinnear and Josh Lawson (The Campaign, House of Lies) have signed on to the follow-up in a couple of unspecified roles.  They join returning castmembers Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner, and Christina Applegate as well as newcomers Harrison Ford, Kristen Wiig, James Marsden, Meagan Good, and Dylan Baker.  Kinnear doesn’t get to flaunt his comedic prowess enough, in my opinion, so I’m looking forward to seeing him play around in the Anchorman universe.  The film hits theaters later this year on December 20th.

A full cast listing for the indie ensemble comedy Growing Up (and Other Lies) has been announced.  Adam Brody, Amber Tamblyn, Wyatt Cenac (The Daily Show), Josh Lawson (The Campaign), Danny Jacobs (Batman: The Dark Knight Returns), and Lauren Miller (For a Good Time, Call…) round out the cast of the film.  The story centers on a 30-year-old (Lawson) “who on his last day in New York City before he moves back home to the Midwest recruits his three oldest friends to help him retrace their greatest adventure: walking the entire, 260-block length of the island of Manhattan in one day.”

Variety reports that Jacobs and Darren Grodsky (Humboldt County) are directing the pic from their own script.  Production is currently underway in New York City on what sounds like a fairly promising premise with a strong ensemble cast.

The trailer and Comic-Con poster have gone online for Charles de Lauzirika‘s psychological noir Crave.  The film stars Josh Lawson as a crime scene photographer who begins to fall deeper into his dark fantasies about becoming a vigilante who can save the world from evil.  Judging by the trailer, I like the contrast between Lawson’s gentle, everyman look (he comes off as a guy you could chill out with at a party), and the violent, aggressive character he’s portraying.

Crave will have a panel in Hall H tomorrow, July 11th with de Lauzirika and Lawson presenting the trailer along with an exclusive 7-minute clip from the movie.  Attendees will also be getting the limited edition Comic-Con poster while supplies last.  Hit the jump to check out the trailer and poster.  The film also stars Emma Lung, Edward Furlong, and Ron Perlman.  Crave will world premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal on July 24.  Click here for all of our Comic-Con coverage.

Already renewed for Season 2, the hit Showtime comedy series House of Lies closes out its first season with unexpected twists and surprises, as Marty Kaan’s (Don Cheadle) management consultant team at Galweather & Stearn fight the MetroCapital acquisition. Actor Josh Lawson plays Doug Guggenheim, the brilliant, Harvard-educated member of the team, who is also a quintessential math geek with mad analytical skills, but no skills in the dating department.

During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, Josh Lawson talked about how strong he felt the ending of the season was, how much the cast loves each other, what it’s like to work with the super-talented Don Cheadle, how much of his character was initially on the page versus what developed over the course of the season, his favorite moments on the show, that he’s rooting for Doug to meet a nice girl in Season 2, and how the fan support is inspiring them to push the boundaries even further. He also talked about the role he recently wrapped as Zach Galifianakis’ brother in The Campaign, also starring Will Ferrell, what it was like working with that cast and director Jay Roach, and why he also loves writing and directing his own projects. Showtime has released the first promo for their new comedy House of Lies.  It doesn’t tell you anything about the show, which centers on “a team of cutthroat management consultants who will do anything in their pursuit of money.”  In fact, it’s just stars Don Cheadle, Kristen Bell, Ben Schwartz, Josh Lawson, and Dawn Oliveri in one of those bare, grayish sets designed for promo shoots.  But the clip (and Cheadle especially) are so infectiously silly, I got a big laugh out of it.  The cast drew me in, but now I definitely want to see more.

House of Lies premieres on January 8.  If you don’t mind a bit of juvenile humor, watch the promo after the jump.

Ron Perlman (“Hellboy”), Josh Lawson (“$quid: The Movie”), and Emma Lung (“The Boys Are Back”) have all signed on to Charles de Lauzirkia’s indie thriller, “Crave”.  According to THR, the story “centers on a troubled photographer (Lawson) whose dangerous visions wreak havoc when his romance with a young woman (Lung) ends and he is pursued by a world-weary detective (Perlman).”  I love the “troubled photographer” character because I always like to imagine him down at Sears about to take a family’s Christmas photo and suddenly he screams, “The demons are coming to rape us all!”  And isn’t that really what Christmas is all about?

This is de Lauzirkia’s feature debut which he also co-wrote the script with Robert Lawton (“Sex & Sushi”).  If you don’t know who de Lauzirika is, take a look at the DVDs and Blu-rays on your shelf.  You see the ones with the greatest extra content?  Lauzirika probably did those.  He is responsible for the special features on such DVDs as the “Alien Quadrilogy”, “Blade Runner”, “Kingdom of Heaven: 4-Disc Director’s Cut”, “Spider-Man 2″, “Twin Peaks” and many other special edition DVDs and Blu-rays that should be in your collection if you cherish additional content.  We wish him well on his directorial debut.
