Filming Begins on PARANOIA Starring Liam Hemsworth, Gary Oldman, and Harrison Ford; Official Synopsis Released

Filming has begun on Robert Luketic‘s thriller Paranoia.  The film stars Liam Hemsworth as a telecom employee who is blackmailed by his boss into spying on a rival company.  I don’t know if Hemsworth can lead a film, but he’s got a strong supporting cast backing him up on Paranoia.  The film also stars Gary Oldman, Harrison Ford, Lucas Till, Amber Heard, Embeth Davidtz, Julian McMahon, Josh Holloway, and Richard Dreyfuss.  While I think Hemsworth has leading man potential, I have far less faith in Luketic, whose previous films include 21, The Ugly Truth, and Killers.  However, the corporate-espionage world of Paranoia is a far cry from anything else Luketic has done, so maybe he’ll have his first good film since his feature debut, 2001′s Legally Blonde.

Hit the jump for the press release, which includes the official synopsis.  Paranoia is due out September 27, 2013.

Ernest Borgnine Video Interview RED; Plus He Talks About His Previous Movies Like MARTY and FROM HERE TO ETERNITY

by     Posted: October 14th, 2010 at 8:05 am

At the New York City press junket for Red, I got to participate in a press conference with Ernest Borgnine.  While it was great to be able to talk with Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich, the chance to hear Borgnine reminisce about his decades in the movie business was also extremely cool.  Also, with Borgnine being 93 years old, I’m well aware this might have been my last chance to interview him.

During the press conference, Borgnine talked about how he first got into the “picture” business, making such films as Marty and From Here to Eternity, working with Frank Sinatra, what really went on behind the scenes of McHale’s Navy, and a lot more.  Hit the jump to watch what he had to say:

Helen Mirren Exclusive Video Interview RED; Plus an Update on ARTHUR

by     Posted: October 13th, 2010 at 6:23 pm

Opening on October 15 is the really fun movie Red. Featuring an all-star cast that’s more impressive than The Expendables, Red stars Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, Morgan Freeman, Mary-Louise Parker, Karl Urban, Richard Dreyfuss, Julian McMahon, Brian Cox, and Ernest Borgnine. Based on the graphic novel Red (Retired Extremely Dangerous), the movie is about a group of retired black ops agents that get back together to try and figure out why some former agents are getting killed.

I was recently in NYC for the press junket and I was able to sit down with Helen Mirren.  During the interview we talked about whether or not her fans are ready to watch her fire a 50 caliber machine gun (I think they are), are there any challenges working in different movie genres, what was it like with the rest of the cast, and she gave me an update on how Arthur was going with Russell Brand.  Hit the jump to see what she had to say and make sure to see Red this weekend:

Bruce Willis and Karl Urban Exclusive Video Interview RED; Plus Updates on Rian Johnson’s LOOPER and Pete Travis’ JUDGE DREDD

Opening on October 15 is a really fun movie called Red. You can watch some clips from Red here.

A few days ago I was in NYC for the press junket and I was able to sit down with Bruce Willis and Karl Urban.  During the very relaxed interview, Willis and Urban talked to me about making the movie, using fake names at Starbucks and on dressing room doors, filming on location, their fight scene, and Willis talked about why he wanted to make Rian Johnson’s Looper and Urban talked about Pete Travis’ Judge Dredd.

Finally, one last thing before watching…while my interview was supposed to end after three minutes, you’ll see Willis tell me to keep asking questions even though the person running the interview wanted it to stop.  I’ve never had a big movie star tell me to keep asking questions after my time was over.  For my first time getting to ask Bruce Willis some questions on camera…it was very cool.  Hit the jump to watch.

4 Movie Clips from RED Starring Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich

by     Posted: September 28th, 2010 at 11:47 am

Summit Entertainment has released four clips from their upcoming action flick Red.  The cast alone is impressive: You’ve got Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, and Morgan Freeman as retired black ops agents out to clear their names before the agency kills them.  Also along for the ride are Mary-Louise Parker, Karl Urban, Richard Dreyfuss, Julian McMahon, Brian Cox, and Ernest Borgnine.  I’m also digging the action and humor that’s been shown off in the trailers and clips.  Let’s hope that the film delivers.

New Images from RED (Retired Extremely Dangerous)

by     Posted: August 22nd, 2010 at 5:40 pm

Summit Entertainment has released almost a dozen new images from director Robert Schwentke’s Red.  Since we’ve been covering the film extensively the past few months, you probably know Red is based on the three issue comic book mini-series by writer Warren Ellis and artist Cully Hamner and it’s about a group of former CIA agents that are framed for assassination so they must get back together to clear their names.  Red stars Bruce Willis, Mary-Louise Parker, John Malkovich, Morgan Freeman, Karl Urban, Helen Mirren, James Remar, Julian McMahon, Brian Cox, Ernest Borgnine, Rebecca Pidgeon, and Richard Dreyfuss.

I visited the set earlier this year and thought it looked great.  On top of that, the trailer is fantastic and I’ve heard the film is testing extremely well.  That’s probably why Summit was willing to do some additional filming this weekend to add a bit to the ending. Anyway, hit the jump for the new images.  Red opens October 15.

Collider Goes to the Set of RED (Retired Extremely Dangerous) – Plus Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura On Set Interview

by     Posted: May 7th, 2010 at 9:00 am

Bruce Willis is standing next to some very large shipping containers.  He’s wearing a black leather coat with a gun in one hand.  Next to him is Mary-Louise Parker.   She’s frightened because someone is firing a gun in their direction.  Across from the two of them is John Malkovich.  He’s also wearing a long coat…but he’s holding a large stuffed animal that looks exactly like a pink pig. It’s very funny to look at. More gun fire.  Malkovich then says, “Can we kill her now?”

The date is April 5, 2010 and I’m in New Orleans on the set of Summit Entertainment’s Red.  We’re in a shipping yard on production day 56 of 60 and the normal heat and humidity of New Orleans is somehow a beautiful sunny afternoon. It’s a perfect day to watch Bruce Willis and company try and kill some bad guys.

Thanks to a press release from Summit Entertainment, I can tell you principal photography has begun in Toronto on Summit Entertainment’s spy-thriller Red, based on the DC Comics graphic novel of the same name by Warren Ellis.

Loaded with an all star cast (Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Karl Urban, Brian Cox, Richard Dreyfuss, Ernest Borgnine, Julian McMahon, James Remar and Rebecca Pidgeon) this is a film I’m extremely excited to see later this year. Here’s the synopsis:

Red is the story of Frank Moses (Willis), a former black-ops CIA agent, who is now living a quiet life.  That is, until the day a hi-tech assassin shows up intent on killing him.  With his identity compromised and the life of the woman he cares for, Sarah (Parker), endangered, Frank reassembles his old team (Freeman, Malkovich and Mirren) in a last ditch effort to survive.

John Malkovich Replaces John C. Reilly in RED Starring Bruce Willis

by     Posted: January 10th, 2010 at 11:31 pm

slice_john_malkovich_red_01.jpg

Heat Vision reports that John Malkovich is replacing John C. Reilly in Robert Schwentke’s upcoming adaptation of Warren Ellis’ graphic novel, Red.  The story follows a retired black-ops agent (played by Bruce Willis) who has to go on the run when younger assassins attempt to assassinate him.  Malkovich will get to show off his comedic skills as the role has him playing a paranoid and erratic contemporary of Willis’ character.  Malkovich’s character suspects everyone is out to kill him and so joins Willis on his quest to find out who wants them dead.  I hope Willis comes to the conclusion its some shady figure from his past, while Malkovich comes to the conclusion it’s the checkout clerk at the Safeway.

Malkovich will have the pleasure of not only acting along side Willis, but almost every other actor in Hollywood.  Allow me to once again rattle off Red‘s ridiculous cast: Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, Mary Louise Parker, Julian McMahon, Ernest Borgnine, Richard Dreyfuss, and Brian Cox.  Filming begins this week in Toronto where they have flown in every trailer that exists.  Red is scheduled to hit theaters on October 22nd.

Summit to Release RED, Starring Bruce Willis and Everyone Else in Hollywood, on October 22nd

Variety reports that Summit Entertainment has penciled in October 22, 2010 as the day they’ll release the upcoming action-thriller, Red.  Directed by Robert Schwentke (Flightplan) and based on the graphic novel by Warren Ellis and Cully Hammer, the film stars Bruce Willis as a retired black ops agent who has to contend with younger, more high-tech assassins who show up to kill him with the White House some how involved in this nefarious endeavor.  The film co-stars (deep breath) Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, John C. Reilly, Mary Louise Parker, Julian McMahon, Ernest Borgnine, Richard Dreyfuss, and Brian Cox.  We have writers on call if any more actors try to cram into this movie.

RED Cast Continues Expanding with Julian McMahon, Ernest Borgnine, Richard Dreyfuss, and Brian Cox Joining Willis, Morgan, and Mirren

slice_red_brian_cox_julian_mcmahon_ernest_borgnine_richard_dreyfuss_01.jpg

The Hoeber Brothers script for Red must be downright brilliant because the movie now has nine talented actors on board.  In the beginning, there was Bruce Willis and Morgan FreemanThen came Helen Mirren.  Then John C. Reilly and Mary Louise Parker joined the project.  Today comes the news that Julian McMahon, Ernest Borgnine, Richard Dreyfuss, and Brian Cox all want a piece of the action as well.  This is an epic cast which may indicate a much larger film than the plot synopsis has led us to believe.  Hit the jump to try and figure out the appeal or if this is just a massive Communist operation hiding in plain sight.
