Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting Talks Playing a Bridezilla, Ad-Libbing, Comparison to BIG BANG THEORY, and More on the Set of THE WEDDING RINGER

by     Posted 9 days ago

The Wedding Ringer (due out in theaters on January 16, 2015) is a comedy about lovable but socially awkward groom-to-be Doug Harris (Josh Gad), who needs to impress his in-laws and pull off the perfect wedding.  With less than two weeks until he marries the girl of his dreams (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting), Doug is referred to Jimmy Callahan (Kevin Hart), owner and CEO of Best Man, Inc., a company that provides best men for socially challenged guys in need.  As the two of them try to fool everybody, a real friendship forms between Doug and his fake best man.

Back on October 17, 2013, Collider was invited, along with a handful of other press, to visit the set of The Wedding Ringer while they were shooting the big wedding scene at the Hollywood Methodist Church, and we were able to chat with some of the cast and filmmakers.  During a group interview, actress Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting talked about playing a bit of a Bridezilla, working on a set with so much ad-libbing, how lucky she feels to work with so many funny people, both in this film and on her hit TV series The Big Bang Theory, getting the role after co-writer/director Jeremy Garelick’s wife (who she takes spin class with at the gym) suggested her, the process for finding her character’s wedding dress, and that she’d like to see her TV show run as long as possible.  Check out what she had to say after the jump.

Kevin Hart Is a Best Man for Hire in New THE WEDDING RINGER Trailer

by     Posted 85 days ago

Sony Pictures has released a new The Wedding Ringer trailer for director Jeremy Garelick’s upcoming comedy.  The story revolves around an introverted yet successful tech entrepreneur (Josh Gad) who hires the owner of The Best Man Inc. (Kevin Hart) to be the perfect best man, assemble fake groomsmen, and throw a killer wedding party.  The movie has a lot going for it—a promising comedic duo, a fun premise, and a heartfelt friendship story at its center—and this trailer is quite funny.  I imagine this will be a sizable hit in the empty January moviegoing landscape, and it’s certainly nice to see Lost alum Jorge Garcia onscreen again.

Watch the new The Wedding Ringer trailer after the jump along with a few new images.  The film also stars Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Ken Howard, Olivia Thirlby, Cloris Leachman, Jenifer Lewis, and Mimi RogersThe Wedding Ringer opens in theaters on January 16, 2015.

THE BIG BANG THEORY Renewed for Three More Seasons

by     Posted 282 days ago

In a big yet unsurprising move, CBS has renewed ratings juggernaut The Big Bang Theory for three more seasons.  Though networks typically renew shows on a season-by-season basis, there are a few cases in which multiple-season pick-ups have been ordered (most notably Fox’s Glee), and in the case of The Big Bang Theory it feels quite warranted given its ratings performance.  The CBS sitcom just so happens to be the highest-rated comedy on television and has been for some time, and its current seventh season has been scoring the show’s highest ratings yet.

Variety reports that the three-season renewal for The Big Bang Theory will keep the series on air through the 2016-17 season, and contract renewal negotiations with key cast members are ongoing.  The Big Bang Theory is executive produced by Chuck Lorre, and the report notes that CBS is also expected to renew Lorre’s other sitcoms on the network: Two and a Half Men, Mike & Molly, and freshman series Mom.

The Cast and Crew of THE BIG BANG THEORY Surprise Audience and Showrunners with Flash Mob

by     Posted 2 years, 33 days ago

The audience at a recent taping of the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory was treated to a bit of a surprise, as the show’s cast and crew spontaneously broke into a flash mob just before a scene was set to begin.  Set to that song that will not go away, “Call Me Maybe,” the ratings-dominating comedy’s crew was joined by cast members Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, and more in what was actually planned as a surprise for the series’ showrunners, Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady, and Steven Molaro.  The video is worthwhile if only to see Blossom’s Mayim Bialik get down behind a very enthusiastic Kaley Cuoco.  Hit the jump to watch the video.

PSA Sunday: Kaley Cuoco’s “Slave Leia Fatigue”

PSA Kaley Cuoco Slave Leia Fatigue slice

With news being slow on the weekends, I started a column called PSA Sunday.  As you can probably deduce from the title, every Sunday we post a PSA featuring TV or movie characters and/or celebrities telling you not to do something.  The first few weeks focused on vintage Star Wars PSA’s (the Cantina aliens in a “Friends don’t let friends drive drunk” campaign, C3P0 and R2D2 talking about the dangers of whooping cough, C3PO and R2D2 warning you about smoking) Clint Eastwood telling you not to do crack cocaine, and the Transformers warning kids about running away from home and not to bike without reflectors.  In addition, the other week we posted Nathan Fillion talking about Swamp Ass.

For this weekend’s PSA, we’ve got Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory) addressing an important issue affecting cosplay girls across the globe: Slave Leia fatigue.  Hit the jump to watch.

The cast and creators of TV’s “smartest, funniest and now Emmy-nominated” The Big Bang Theory dropped in on Comic-Con today to talk about the upcoming 5th season of the popular series. Executive producers Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady and Steve Molaro joined principal cast Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch on stage. In a nice touch for fans of the show, Carol Ann Susi provided the disembodied voice of Mrs. Wolowitz to introduce the panel. Kaley Cuoco Interview HOP

by     Posted 3 years, 267 days ago

In the family comedy Hop, actress Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory) plays Sam O’Hare, the ambitious and driven younger sister of the directionless Fred (James Marsden). In her mid-20′s, Sam only wants the best for 30-year-old Fred and constantly encourages him to get his act together while he figures out what his passion in life is. When she sets him up with a house-sitting gig at her boss’ mansion, Fred has a chance meeting with E.B., the teenage son of the Easter Bunny, and none of their lives will ever be the same again.

At the film’s press day, Kaley Cuoco talked about shaking things up from her day job at The Big Bang Theory, how she loved the sweetness of her character, acting opposite a bean bag for her scenes with E.B., torturing her co-star James Marsden, and how she loves doing comedy. Check out what she had to say after the jump:

7 Clips from Universal’s HOP

by     Posted 3 years, 275 days ago

Universal Pictures has released seven clips from director Tim Hill’s (Alvin and the Chipmunks) CG/live-action family film, Hop.  The film, which comes from Illumination Entertainment (the same company that made Despicable Me), stars James Marsden (Enchanted) as a slacker who finds himself taking care of the Easter Bunny (voiced by Russel Brand) after he accidentally injures him.  Hop also stars (or features the voice of) Kaley Cuoco, Gary Cole, Elizabeth Perkins, David Hasselhoff, Chelsea Handler, Hank Azaria and Hugh Laurie.  Hit the jump to check out the clips:

New Trailer and Images for HOP

by     Posted 3 years, 313 days ago

Universal has released a full-length trailer for their upcoming live-action/CGI family comedy Hop.  The film features Russell Brand as the voice of the Easter Bunny scion who doesn’t want the gig of delivering candy to people.  Also, he shits jelly beans.  I never expected to see a trailer where a character shits out jelly beans on to the roof of James Marsden’s car, but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer along with some new images.  Hop opens April 1st.

First Trailer for HOP

by     Posted 4 years, 26 days ago

Universal Pictures has released the first teaser trailer for Tim Hill’s (Alvin and the Chipmunks) upcoming CG/live-action family film, Hop.  The film, which comes from the same company who made this summer’s Despicable Me, stars James Marsden (Enchanted) as a slacker who finds himself taking care of the Easter Bunny (voiced by Russel Brand) after he accidentally injures him.  Instead of letting you know what the film is going to be about, the teaser instead features a cute CGI rabbit playing the drums to Song 2 by Blur.  Why?  I don’t really know.   Hop opens on April 1, 2011.  You can hit the jump to watch the trailer and to read a plot synopsis for the film.

THE BIG BANG THEORY: Season 3 Blu-ray Review

by     Posted 4 years, 55 days ago

“The Nerd Empire Strikes Back” for season three of The Big Bang Theory and the gang is back and up to their usual shenanigans.  Raj is still too nervous to talk around Penny, Howard is willing to try anything to get laid (even almost get a tattoo), Sheldon is still a hilarious and neurotic mess, and Leonard and Penny are dating.  Wait a minute, that’s a new development…  Now Sheldon has to deal with being the third wheel to Penny and Leonard’s tumultuous and severely awkward relationship.  This season delivers the same amount of laughs as the last two and Sheldon is still the NERD KING, but the flaws of the more standard sitcom jokes and some performances are starting to stick out more this time around.

Kaley Cuoco Moves to the Silver Screen – Secures Roles in I HOP and THE LAST RIDE

by     Posted 4 years, 263 days ago

Kaley Cuoco image slice (1).jpg

Kaley Cuoco is making her move. The female star of the CBS hit show, The Big Bang Theory, has won the lead female role in I Hop, a live-action/CG-animation comedy produced by Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures. I Hop marks Cuoco’s first major studio feature role, an important distinction considering her last few films have been straight-to-DVD fare like Killer Movie, Cougar Club and the Lifetime classic, To Be Fat Like Me. In I Hop, Cuoco helps take care of the Easter Bunny’s (voiced by Russell Brand) son after her unemployed and irresponsible brother (James Marsden) accidently injures the child. Tim Hill (Alvin and the Chipmunks) will direct.

To counter-balance the broad comedy of I Hop, Cuoco will also be appearing in Harry Thomason (The Hunting of the President) independent film, The Last Ride. She will play a gas-station owner who has a brief fling with the man (Jesse James) who is responsible for driving Hank Williams (Henry Thomas) from Alabama to Canton, Ohio to play what might be the singer’s last gig. Cuoco has managed to stay afloat in the TV business for about 10 years now but the film industry is a different animal. Time will tell if Cuoco can transition successfully but, at the very least, she seems to be playing it smart by taking divergent roles.

The Big Bang Theory CBS tv show image (1).jpg

Look out! Nerds are taking over movies and TV! Suddenly I’m the cool one because I know the alternate and conflicting origins of Wolverine and just how badly the new movie screwed them up.  All my friends that were the “cool” ones would be eaten alive at Comic-Con, which if you were lucky enough to bare witness to, you would know that Hollywood is really into “Geek Chic” right now.  When every comic book from “Thor” to “Green Lantern” to “Green Hornet” is being picked up to be another franchise opportunity, a show that centers around social outcasts with a plethora of nerd-knowledge is bound to be a hit in the current market trends.  I’m a self-proclaimed nerd and because of that and because “The Big Bang Theory” relishes in its nerd-dom it is easily one of the funniest shows on TV right now and definitely keeping the “traditional sitcom” alive.  More after the jump:

The Big Bang Theory CBS tv show image.jpg

I love this show. I’ve loved it from the first episode. I’m not a scientist but I am a nerd and so every science fiction, comic book, nerd reference, in fact every piece of trivia tossed aside ’causes me to break out laughing and always has. But even as I type this I can’t help wonder if this show works for the non-nerds/scientists? I mean, does everything body get a thrill of excitement when the entire male cast of a series dresses up like The Flash? Do they even know who The Flash is? When a joke is dependent on an understanding of the DC multiverse is any but me and people like me, gonna be rolling in the aisle? More after the jump:
