One of the films to premiere footage at this year’s New York Comic-Con was director Kimberly Peirce‘s (Boys Don’t Cry) remake of Carrie.  Based on the book by Stephen King, Screen Gems says Carrie is “a reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.”  While many were nervous about the remake, Matt was very impressed with the footage.  Read his recap here and here’s the first trailer.

Shortly before the Comic-Con panel, I did an exclusive interview with Chloë Moretz.  We talked about her experiences with comic-con, why she prefers the PS3 to the XBox 360, video games, how she got the role in Carrie and the audition process, the challenges Hit-Girl faces in the Kick-Ass sequel, whether Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) will make an appearance, what she has planned next, and more.  Hit the jump to watch.

We previously brought you the first looks at Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) in a new version of his RoboCop suit, but now we have a few more looks at Kinnaman as the 100% human Alex Murphy.  Speaking of superhumans, director Jeff Wadlow recently tweeted a number of photos of the Kick-Ass 2 cast in costume.  Though none are as awesome as the first look at Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars, these set photos do have that “official” ring to them.

Director Jose Padilha’s RoboCop also stars Abbie Cornish, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton and Jackie Earle Haley and opens August 9th, 2013.  Kick-Ass 2, starring Aaron Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, opens June 28th of next year.  Hit the jump to see the new images.

Another day, another batch of blurry set photos featuring some of your favorite barely recognizable stars.  Today, we have our first look at Kick-Ass 2 star Christopher Mintz-Plasse in costume as The Motherfucker.  He doesn’t appear to be dressed in the same black-and-orange duds we saw him in at the end of Kick-Ass, but it’s hard to get a decent look in these lo-res images.  We’ve also got first looks at Michael Fassbender and Javier Bardem in Ridley Scott’s The Counselor.  I didn’t think it possible, but Bardem looks even stranger here than he does in Skyfall.  Maybe it’s just the pocket-fan.  Hit the jump to check out the set photos.

Earlier today I got to speak with Christopher Mintz-Plasse.  We talked about his reaction to the finished film, how the script changed along the way, and the recording process.  In addition, with Mintz-Plasse about to leave for London to start filming Kick-Ass 2, he talked about what fans can look forward to in the sequel which he describes as “Warriors meets Kick-Ass.”  He also revealed that he’s part of some of the big action scenes and Chloe Moretz’s character Hit Girl is going into the 9th grade in the sequel.  Hit the jump to watch.

While at Comic-Con for a panel presentation, actor Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Kick-Ass) spoke to the press about the stop-motion animated feature ParaNorman.  Set in the town of Blithe Hollow, 11-year-old Norman Babcock (Kodi Smit-McPhee) unexpectedly learns that a centuries-old witch’s curse is real and about to come true, and that only he can save the world from zombies.

During the interview, Christopher Mintz-Plasse (who plays an obnoxious and insecure bully named Alvin) talked about creating a voice for this character, getting to work with the other voice actors during the recording process, how nervous he gets every time he does a voice-over project, and how well done the anti-bullying message of the film is.  He also talked about how he is currently doing voice work for How to Train Your Dragon 2, that he has the script for Kick-Ass 2 but has not officially signed on for it yet, how he hopes to shoot from September to December of this year, and how happy he is not to have the rape scene with his character from the comic.  Check out what he had to say after the jump.

The drama Savages, from three-time Oscar-winning filmmaker Oliver Stone, follows entrepreneurs Ben (Aaron Johnson) and Chon (Taylor Kitsch), and their shared girlfriend O (Blake Lively), who run a lucrative business raising some of the best marijuana ever developed.  But, the legendary weed of these Laguna Beach heroes soon catches the interest of the Mexican Baja Cartel, headed by the merciless Elena “La Reina” (Salma Hayek).  Along with her brutal enforcer Lado (Benicio Del Toro) and her head attorney Alex (Demian Bichir), Elena demands a partnership which she ensures by kidnapping that which they love most, and what was once a peaceful and easy lifestyle becomes a high-stakes battle of wills.  For more on the film, here’s six clips.

At the film’s press day, actor Aaron Johnson spoke to Collider for this exclusive interview about how Oliver Stone wanted him for the film but didn’t immediately know for which role, how he enjoyed being challenged by the director, and the journey he went on with co-star Taylor Kitsch.  He also talked about the type of roles he wants to play, having read the Kick-Ass 2 script, which he says is definitely a hard R and that he expects will go into production in the Fall, and he addressed the recent statement that American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis made on Twitter about how he would be a good choice for the male lead in the film adaptation of the much-talked-about erotic novel 50 Shades of Grey.  Check out what he had to say after the jump.

This weekend, Collider got to participate in the press junket for Savages, the new film from three-time Oscar-winning filmmaker Oliver Stone.  Based on Don Winslow’s best-selling novel, the story follows two Laguna Beach entrepreneurs, Ben (Aaron Johnson) and Chon (Taylor Kitsch), and their shared girlfriend O (Blake Lively), who run a very lucrative business selling some of the best marijuana ever developed, which attracts the unwanted interest of the Mexican Baja Cartel.  For more on the film, you can watch six clips here.

While we will run the interviews about the film closer to its July 6th release in theaters, we did want to share what actor Aaron Johnson had to say to us about finally going into production on the Kick-Ass sequel, which is set to shoot in the Fall.  He said that he has gotten to see a script, that it keeps the standard hard R feel of the first film, and that he’s excited to get back in the suit.  He also addressed the recent statement that American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis made on Twitter about how he would be a good choice for the male lead in the film adaptation of the much-talked-about erotic novel, 50 Shades of Grey.  Check out what he had to say after the jump.

Even though director Matthew Vaughn (X-Men: First Class) has two upcoming sequel projects on his schedule, he’s chosen to add an original film into the mix.   After landing a sneak peek at the book, Vaughn put up his own money to option Lexicon, a thriller from author Max Barry that is due to hit shelves next year.  Vaughn would also write (or at least co-write) a script he plans to direct if the picture goes through development.  Set in a world where words can literally kill, Lexicon includes Barry’s signature riffs on branding, identity and government control.  Hit the jump for more on Lexicon and a recap of what else Vaughn has on his plate.

Normally, Mark Millar is not the most reliable of sources, but since we recently confirmed the start date of production on Kick-Ass 2, we can lend a bit more credence to the comic writer’s comments in the following interview.  Director Jeff Wadlow (Never Back Down spoke recently on the progress and tone of the sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s 2010 original hit, Kick-Ass.  Millar expands on his comments quite a bit, including a candid talk about Wadlow being chosen as director, the use of Hit-Girl in the sequel, the return of the original cast (including Aaron Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and where the franchise will go from here.  Some spoilers lay in wait ahead, but feel free to hit the jump as I’ll move the spoiler-free updates to the head of the line.

Take any of the following dates, deadlines or confirmations with a grain of salt because Mark Millar (Kick-Ass) is not known to be the most reliable person when it comes to movie news. However, in a recent interview, the comics writer did give an update on a few of his projects possibly being adapted for the big screen, including Kick-Ass 2, American Jesus and Secret Service. While it looks like Matthew Vaughn (X-Men: First Class) won’t be back to direct the sequel to Kick-Ass, Millar suggests that Vaughn may be attached as a producer when they supposedly shoot this summer. In Texas Killing Fields, actress Chloe Grace Moretz plays a local girl in a small Texas town, growing up with a drug addict mother, a loser brother, and no shortage of unsavory men hanging around. When she goes missing, Detective Souder (Sam Worthington) and Detective Heigh (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) find themselves racing against time to catch a sadistic serial killer, in order to save the young girl’s life.

For the film’s press day, Collider spoke to Chloe Grace Moretz, in both a roundtable and a phone interview, about the appeal of doing a role that was different from what she’s done before, how she got to go to a safe house to talk to former and current meth addicts for research, how freaked out she was that this story was inspired by true events, and how much she loved working with her co-stars, Sam Worthington and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. She also talked about the experience of being a part of Dark Shadows, how the dream of working with director Tim Burton far exceeded all of her expectations, that she hopes they’ll still eventually make a Kick-Ass sequel, how she is waiting for a finished script for the Emily the Strange movie, and that she has four or five projects already lined up for next year, and is just waiting to see which one goes first. Check out what she had to say after the jump.
