Andy Samberg's first TV project since his departure from Saturday Night Live will be the six-part comedy series Cuckoo, in which he will co-star with the fantastic Welsh comedian Greg Davies (The Inbetweeners) as "a slacker full of outlandish, New Age ideas."

Executive producer of Cuckoo Ash Atalla (The Office) says, "We hope Cuckoo cements the special relationship between our two great countries. I  imagine [Barack] Obama and [British Prime Minister David] Cameron will  be watching closely." For more on the project, hit the jump

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the series, created and written by Robin French and Kieron Quirk for Roughcut Television, will film this summer and air later this year.

Samberg will play the new husband of Greg Davies' daughter, who married him secretly during her gap year abroad. The  character is described by the network as "a squared-jawed,  self-appointed spiritual ninja" (which sounds utterly horrendous, though  potentially amusing, especially when paired with Greg Davies' straight  man act).  The series will also star veteran British TV actress Helen Baxendale and another Inbetweeners alumn, the charming Tamla Kari.

Hopefully the collaboration will be as comedically successful as another recent U.K.-Hollywood project, Veep, which brought the unparalleled talents of political satirist Armando Iannucci (In The Loop)  and his U.K. writing staff to HBO for the otherwise wholly American  series, which just finished its inaugural run (pun intended) Sunday  night.
