Vin Diesel Talks GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, His Reaction to the Finished Film, Another RIDDICK Sequel, KOJAK, XXX 3, His HANNIBAL Trilogy, More

by     Posted 144 days ago

Opening this weekend is director James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy.  As most of you know, the story follows five intergalactic misfits—Peter Quill aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), and Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper)—as they set out to protect a powerful and mysterious orb from the villainous Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace).  Loaded with great performances, an extremely funny script, and some fantastic action sequences,Guardians of the Galaxy should be a big hit with moviegoers and it helps to explain why Marvel was so quick to announce that a sequel is coming July 28, 2017.

At the recent Los Angeles press day, I landed an exclusive video interview with Vin Diesel.  He talked about his reaction to watching Guardians of the Galaxy for the first time, taking his kids to the screening, the status of another Riddick sequel, upcoming projects like Kojak, his Hannibal trilogy, xXx 3, and more.  Hit the jump to watch.

While not every project in Hollywood actually comes to fruition, despite the years of development put into it, there are a few projects that Vin Diesel has been attached to for some time that he remains focused on getting made.  It may have taken nine years, but the Chronicles of Riddick follow-up Riddick finally came to pass last year, and now Diesel says he’s tackling two long-talked-about projects in the near future.  Steve recently spoke with Diesel in anticipation of the release of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, in which he voices Groot, and the actor revealed his next three projects.  After the fantasy-actioner The Last Witch Hunter, which Diesel is making next, the actor says he will move on to Kojak, followed by xXx 3.

Hit the jump for more, including news on the addition of Michael Caine to The Last Witch Hunter and a status update on the long-developing Hannibal.

Vin Diesel Wants Ang Lee to Direct KOJAK Because of Course He Does

by     Posted 1 year, 25 days ago

Vin Diesel loves his fans, and he has no hesitation about teasing them regarding future projects.  His relentless self-promotion is kind of grating if you’re not a Diesel devotee, but hustling is part of Hollywood.  He’s supposedly voicing Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy, and has talked about “merging brands” with Marvel (whatever the hell that means).  Diesel may be content to be part of ensemble films, but since the most successful thing about Riddick is that it got made, he could be looking for another solo franchise.

About a year ago, Diesel signed on to play the lead in a film adaptation of the TV show Kojak.  The series ran from 1973-1978, and starred Telly Savalas as New York City Police Department Detective Lieutenant Theo Kojak.  The tough but good-hearted cop was a colorful character and returned to TV in 2005 as a short-lived series starting Ving Rhames.   So what are Diesel’s thoughts on the film adaptation?  When asked by a fan on Facebook “what director would you like to work soon?” he replied, “Kojak… New York… Ang Lee…”  Hit the jump for more.

Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, two members of the writing team for Skyfall, have been set to pen the Kojak feature for Universal with Vin Diesel attached to star in the title role. The picture is based on the 1970s crime drama television series of the same name, which starred Telly Savalas as a tough and witty New York City detective with a bald head and a penchant for Tootsie Pops. Diesel, who has just wrapped on Fast and Furious 6, will also produce with Samantha Vincent for their Universal-located One Race Films. “Who loves ya, baby?” Hit the jump to find out more.
