Hasbro brought a wide variety of KRE-O newcomers to Toy Fair this year, representing characters from the Transformers franchise as well as G.I. Joe and Dungeons & Dragons.
Hasbro is clearly ramping things up for the June 27, 2014 release of Transformers: Age of Extinction because those characters were easily the most striking of the bunch. The display included all 24 unique Kreon figures inspired by the movie as well as the Kreon Micro Changers Combiners assortments, four-figure sets that unite to form one larger robot. The G.I. Joe line-up showed off loads of new Kreon characters including Lowlight, Atomic Man, Lady Jaye, Scrap-Iron, Night Creeper and loads more as well as the extensive Terror Drome building set. And as for Dungeons & Dragons, that brand new line rocks 75 different Kreon characters as well as a number of other play elements all designed to reflect the experience of the fantasy game by facilitating competitive action battling. Catch our images of all three lines after the jump.
While Toy Fair 2013 doesn’t open its doors until tomorrow at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, earlier today Hasbro held a special press only event where they revealed a number of upcoming toys from Iron Man 3, Transformers, Kre-o G.I. Joe (Hasbro’s version of Lego), Star Wars, Star Trek and much more.
In the coming hours we’ll be posting tons of new photos, but until then, you can check out the official images that Hasbro sent over. Included in the official press packet are images and info on Iron Man 3, Kre-o G.I. Joe, Iron Man Micro Mugg’s, some Transformers, and more. Hit the jump to check them out and look for a ton of new toy/action figure images in the coming days.
With New York Comic-Con starting tomorrow, Hasbro invited a number of reporters to a private reception where they showed off some of their upcoming toys that will be on the convention floor. Included were toys from Iron Man 3, Angry Birds Star Wars, Kre-o Star Trek and Kre-o G.I. Joe (Hasbro’s version of LEGO), a Transformers: Prime – Beast Hunters toy, and they even had some My Little Pony stuff.
While I would have liked to have seen more Iron Man 3 and Marvel toys, I’ll admit it’s a bit early to be pushing IM3. In addition, with everyone really busy once Comic-Con starts, this preview is a smart way to get early press. Hit the jump for over 50 images including pictures of the party.
As we’ve previously reported, Hasbro’s LEGO-style toy line KRE-O has the license for Star Trek. The company will be premiering their upcoming playsets at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, but today Hasbro has released an image of the KRE-O version of the U.S.S. Enterprise. I’m not sure how many pieces it has, but it’s hopefully one of those sets that takes an entire afternoon to build (if not longer). Hasbro has also released a teaser trailer that’s almost a shot-for-shot remake of the original movie’s teaser trailer, but with KRE-O blocks. There will also be a KRE-O Star Trek digital short produced by Bad Robot at Comic-Con.
Hit the jump to check out the image, teaser trailer, and press release. The 2012 San Diego Comic-Con runs from July 12 – 15th. The KRE-O toys will hit shelves in spring 2013 to coincide with the release of Star Trek 2, which opens May 17, 2013.
In February, we reported that Hasbro had picked up the toy license for Star Trek beginning in 2013. Specifically, Hasbro would be bringing Kirk, Spock, and the rest of the Enterprise gang into the toy company’s “Kre-O” line of LEGO-style playsets. The image with the press release was more of a slapdash, “Hey, these will exist” work, but a new image shows a better representation of what we can expect next year. As you can see, these figurines will really nail down the chiseled jaws and Kirk’s patented smirk. While these figures are all well and good, I’m interested in seeing how Kre-O will handle the Enterprise.
