Netflix Picks Up LONGMIRE; Fourth Season Will Premiere In 2015

Longmire wrapped up its third season earlier this year on A&E.  Apparently it wasn’t renewed at that time since Netflix has just announced that Longmire Season 4 is on the way.  The 10 episode arc is set to hit the streaming service in 2015 and will be produced in conjunction with Warner Horizon Television.

The contemporary crime thriller set in Big Sky country is based on the Walt Longmire mystery novels by best-selling author Craig Johnson. The series stars Robert Taylor (The Matrix) as Walt Longmire, the charismatic, dedicated and unflappable sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming, along with Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar GalacticaRiddick), Lou Diamond Phillips (SouthlandLa Bamba), Bailey Chase (Damages), Cassidy Freeman (Smallville) and Adam Bartley (Justified).   Hit the jump for more on Longmire Season 4.

In Season 3 of the A&E series Longmire, Sheriff Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) has had to deal with a series of devastating traumas, from his best friend, Henry Standing Bear (Lou Diamond Phillips), going to prison on murder charges to Deputy Branch Connally (Bailey Chase) being shot by a mysterious “white warrior” to Vic Moretti (Katee Sackhoff) being unsure if she has shaken a stalker from her past. As Walt unravels the dark, mysterious secrets of Absaroka County, he will get closer to uncovering who is really behind his wife’s murder.

Katee Sackhoff Talks OCULUS, Being a Fan of Mike Flanagan’s Work, Concerns about Physical Intensity with Younger Actors, RIDDICK, and LONGMIRE

The horror flick Oculus tells the story of a beautiful antique mirror whose most recent owners, siblings Kaylie (Karen Gillan) and Tim (Brenton Thwaites), are struggling to rebuild their relationship after the gruesome demise of their parents, 10 years earlier.  While the two attempt to uncover the truth, they also begin to turn on each other, as the malevolent supernatural force of the mirror infects their minds and reflects their own insecurities.

At the film’s press day, Collider spoke to actress Katee Sackhoff (who plays the mother of the siblings in flashbacks) for this exclusive interview about what attracted her to Oculus, being a fan of director Mike Flanagan’s work, how she approached this character, her concerns about having to be intensely physical with the younger actors, and the technical challenges of the show.  She also talked about how Season 3 of her A&E drama series Longmire is going, and how fun it would be to get to further explore her Riddick character, if they make another movie.  Check out our Katee Sackhoff after the jump.

The Season 2 finale of the A&E drama series Longmire premieres on August 26th and things are sure to be explosive.  Detective Fales (Charles Dutton) returns with warrants, forcing Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor) and Henry Standing Bear (Lou Diamond Phillips) to face what happened in Denver, while Vic Moretti (Katee Sackhoff) will have to deal with what she’s been running from.

During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, actress Katee Sackhoff talked about how excited she was to really sink her teeth into Vic’s journey this season, why she thinks Vic and Walt are able to trust each other, what’s it’s been like to work with co-star Robert Taylor, that the finale will wrap up some storylines while raising new questions, that she hopes to hear about whether Season 3 might happen early enough that they can avoid shooting in New Mexico during the hottest time of the year, and that she loves the serialized aspect of the show and is hoping for more of that, in the future.  She also talked about why she’s nervous about the reaction to her work in Riddick, and how great it was to get to be a part of the “Women Who Kick Ass” panel at this year’s Comic-Con.  Check out what she had to say after the jump, and be aware that there are some spoilers.

Known as the Acting Outlaws, actresses Katee Sackhoff and Tricia Helfer (who both worked on Battlestar Galactica together) participate in a variety of charity events, in an effort to raise money and awareness for causes they feel strongly about.  With a merchandise store (at www.ActingOutlaws.org) that includes various t-shirts and a documentary of the motorcycle ride they took from Los Angeles to Louisiana, they now have a 2013 calendar that features 12 months of exclusive photos of the women in classy and provocative poses.

During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, Katee Sackhoff talked about how the Acting Outlaws came about, what made them decide to do their first-ever calendar, where her interest in and love for motorcycles started, and more.  She also talked about returning to her A&E drama series Longmire for Season 2, which starts shooting again in the middle of March, her experience making the next Riddick film with Vin Diesel, for which she had a nude scene that she needed to get her father’s permission for first, that she’s seen bits and pieces of the film while recording ADR and said that it’s bloody but that the R rating is definitely more for the language, how she’s attached to do the all-female Expendables movie with Gina Carano and that she’s excited about all of the women that they’re talking to for roles in it, and what it was like to work with Karen Gillan (Doctor Who) on the horror film Oculus.  Check out what she had to say after the jump.
