Exclusive: Check out Marko Manev and Bottleneck Gallery’s STAR WARS Triptych Set; Timed Release Goes on Sale Friday

by     Posted 337 days ago

One of the biggest complaints I hear from screenprint/poster collectors is the inability to purchase items when they go on sale.  Nowadays, if you want to score an online drop from your favorite gallery or artist, you either need to be really fast on your computer, know someone that is, or have sold Satan your soul.  In a coordinated effort to keep more people from Satan, every once in awhile a gallery or artist will offer something as a timed release.  That means if you place an order during the designated amount of time (sometimes one hour and up to a few days), you are guaranteed to get a copy.

Which brings me to Marko Manev and Bottleneck Gallery’s upcoming Star Wars triptych set. Starting Friday, January 17th at 12pm eastern and ending on Sunday, January 19th at midnight, the gallery will be selling Manev’s very cool Star Wars triptych set for $100 for a matching numbered set or $35 for one of the individual posters.  The prints are 12 x 24 inches each and they’re all going to be signed by Manev.   Hit the jump for more info and pictures.  I’m a big fan of Manev’s work and really dig the colors.  Let me know what you think about the posters in the comments.

Hero Complex Gallery in Los Angeles is currently running a show called Young Guns of Print.  It’s a show dedicated to up and coming artists who all were able to exhibit multiple prints in their own mini-theme.  The show was fantastic, however there was a curious omission.  A sign on the wall held a spot for a Lord of the Rings theme from artist Marko Manev, but unfortunately the art didn’t make it in time for the opening.  Well the art is finished and in conjunction with the closing of the show, it is time for it to be revealed.  Not just one print, but a glow-in-the-dark triptych, and it’s great.  Check out the exclusive images and when/where you can get a set for yourself after the jump.

On Friday, July 5th, Hero Complex Gallery in L.A., along with Planet Pulp, opened their new gallery show “RED”.  As the name implies, the art was done in the theme of the color, and the walls of the gallery were covered with some great work by over fifty artists.

A few minutes before the show opened, I was able to take pictures of everything on display and after the jump you can check it out.  In addition, in case you’re not able to stop by the gallery, everything is now onsale on Hero Complex’s website, so if you see something you like, you can buy it online.

On Friday, July 5th, Hero Complex Gallery in L.A., along with Planet Pulp, will open their new gallery show “RED”.  As the name implies, the art will be done in the theme of the color.  With at least 50 artists contributing, there is going to be quite a bit of new art to take in.  So far, there seems to be quite a diverse interpretation of the theme, which should make for a very interesting show.  I am particularly interested to see Marie Bergeron’s Apocalypse Now piece in person.  J.P. Valderrama has two new Akira pieces, one for Kaneda and the other for Tetsuo, which are sure to be fan favorites.  Also, Marko Manev brings another great piece, this time for Dexter, just in time for the start of the final season.

Check out some previews after the jump.

Limited Paper: Hero Complex Gallery’s ARCH NEMESIS Opens Friday with New Art by Craig Drake, Laurent Durieux, Marko Manev, Tim Anderson and More

by     Posted 1 year, 209 days ago

Despite what Hero Complex Gallery’s name might lead you to believe, not every HCG show is superhero-related.  Often clever, generally awesome, and featuring a consistently talented pool of artists?  Yes, for sure.  Wall-to-wall prints featuring spandex-clad mutants, Kryptonian refugees, and/or unkillable Canadians with razor-sharp claws?  Not so much.

Their next show– Arch Nemesis, which opens this Friday at the gallery’s Los Angeles location—falls somewhere in-between.  Yes, you’ll get all the Batman, Fantastic Four, and Justice League posters you can handle…but they’ll be rubbing elbows with new prints based on geek-friendly properties like Predator, The Wizard of Oz, and Masters of The Universe.  Wanna see some preview images from the show (and find out how you can win one of two extremely rare variant prints)?  Meet me after the jump, folks.

We’re expecting some bigger news to come down the pike later today (fingers crossed), but who knows if that’ll pan out as expected?  While we’re waiting to see how that shakes out, why don’t we take a quick peek at a few other stories that crossed Limited Paper’s desk over the past few days?  I’ve got news regarding a new series from artist Marko Manev called Superhero Noir (which Steve wrote about last week), a look at a collection of Bioshock Infinite posters (that we really wish were screenprinted), and a head’s up regarding the second helping of Hero Complex Gallery’s Weapon of Choice showcase.  It’s all waiting for you after the jump, folks.

Check Out Some Fan-Made Posters for WORLD WAR Z

by     Posted 1 year, 317 days ago

I was unimpressed by the Super Bowl spot for World War Z, and the behind-the-scenes disasters don’t give me much hope for the flick, but eight artists are keeping the hope alive, or at least they care enough to make some great posters.  It’s fascinating to see how different artists have approached a movie they haven’t seen, although I assume that at least some of the artists have Max Brooks‘ novel.  I don’t know if Paramount is legally allowed to purchase these posters for their marketing materials, but the studio should at least take note of the kind of styles that are available to them.

Hit the jump to check out the posters.  The film stars Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Matthew Fox, James Badge Dale, and David MorseWorld War Z opens on June 21st.

10 Superhero Noir Posters Featuring Batman, Hulk, Spider-Man, Silver Surfer, Iron Man, Thor and More

by     Posted 1 year, 318 days ago

It’s tough making one cool superhero poster.  But making ten of them, each one is as cool as the last, that’s almost impossible.  But that’s what Marko Manev has managed to do with his new black and white superhero noir posters featuring Batman, Hulk, Captain America, Spider-Man, Silver Surfer, Thor, Iron Man, Superman, Dr. Manhattan, and Wolverine.  As you’ll see after the jump, every poster captures an iconic scene for the superhero featured.  And while all of them are extremely well done, I think the Silver Surfer is my favorite.   Let me know which is your favorite in the comment section.
