The Academy and Gallery1988 Present Posters by Various Artists for the Best Picture Oscar Nominees

by     Posted 1 year, 316 days ago

Last week, BAFTA premiered special posters for their Best Picture nominees.  Today, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences had followed suit by teaming up with Gallery1988 and various artists to create posters for this year’s Best Picture Oscar nominees.  There are some impressive posters, and I’m curious to see if they’re going to go on sale at some point.  The Academy’s website lists the dimensions and type of production (screen print), which leads me to believe that these might be available for purchase some day.  I’m sure there are plenty of readers who would love to get their hands on Mark Englert‘s print for Django Unchained. [Update: Gallery1988 has tweeted the following: "G1988 x The Academy. Official. 2/14 - 2/17. More soon." so it looks like you should get your wallets ready, and keep an eye on their official website.]

Hit the jump to check out the posters.  The Academy Awards will be held on February 24th at 7pm EST on ABC.

60 Pictures from Gallery 1988′s “The Humorist” A Tribute to Woody Allen

If you’re a fan of Woody Allen and live in the Los Angeles area, I strongly suggest heading down to Gallery 1988′s Venice location for their new show “The Humorist.”  The show opened last night and runs until February 2.  Unlike some shows that are mostly screenprints, what’s great about this one is the amount of diversity by the talented artists.  In addition, since Allen has made over forty films, everyone had plenty of choices and I’m glad some of them went with his early work like Sleeper, Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid to Ask, and Bananas.  Like all Gallery 1988 shows, the artwork will be “dropping” later today on their website.  Since everything is limited, if you see something you like, don’t wait too long to purchase.

Hit the jump to check out sixty pictures from the show.

by     Posted 3 years, 9 days ago

Paramount is really hoping to woo people out to see Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol in IMAX and to see it as soon as possible.  To help seal the deal, folks who attend an opening midnight IMAX screening can pick up a special edition poster for the film.  The posters—designed by Matt Owen—come in black-on-red and red-on-black, and cleverly combine the familiar Mission: Impossible fuse with the movie’s major set piece: Tom Cruise dangling off the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.

Hit the jump to check out the black-on-red version of the poster.  Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol opens in IMAX on December 16th, and opens nationwide on December 21st.
