The first trailer for the action thriller Stolen has been released. Previously referred to as Medallion, the film reteams Nicolas Cage with his Con Air director Simon West. Cage plays a former master thief who only has a few hours to find his daughter when she is kidnapped and locked in the trunk of a New York taxi cab. Malin Akerman plays Cage’s ex-girlfriend with whom he teams up to find his daughter, while a long-haired Josh Lucas plays the antagonist, Cage’s former partner who’s gone a bit off the deep end. Despite the cheesy “movie trailer man” voice over, the film actually looks like it could be a fun ride. The Taken comparisons can’t be ignored, but under the direction of West Stolen doesn’t seem to be taking itself too seriously. And was that a stuffed animal I saw in Cage’s arms or was I dreaming?

Actor Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) has joined the cast of director Simon West’s (When a Stranger Calls) upcoming action-thriller Medallion. The Playlist reports that Huston will join Nicolas Cage in the flick, which centers on a former master thief (Cage) who has only a few hours to find his daughter when she is kidnapped and locked in the trunk of a New York medallion taxi cab. Malin Akerman will portray an ex-girlfriend of Cage’s who teams up with him to find his daughter. The Taken-esque flick has a script from David Guggenheim (Safe House) and marks the re-teaming of Cage and West after their previous collaboration on Con Air.

Nicolas Cage is starring in yet another action film, and it looks like Malin Akerman will be along for the ride. Akerman is in negotiations to take on the female lead in Medallion, from director Simon West (When a Stranger Calls). The Taken-esque story centers on “a former master thief (Cage), who has only a few hours to find his daughter when she is kidnapped and locked in the trunk of a New York medallion taxi cab.”
Heat Vision reports that Akerman will star as Cage’s former girlfriend/bankrobber who, of course, teams up with Cage to help him find his daughter. David Guggenheim (Safe House) wrote the script, while McG is producing, sigh. West and Cage previously teamed up for the fantastically ridiculous Con Air, and one can only hope that working together on this project will get the ball rolling on that Con Air sequel that West wants to do. Akerman recently replaced Lindsay Lohan in the Linda Lovelace biopic Inferno.

Nicolas Cage has signed on to star in Medallion, an action thriller not dissimilar to 2008′s Taken. The story centers on “a former master thief (Cage), who has only a few hours to find his daughter when she is kidnapped and locked in the trunk of a New York medallion taxi cab.” Simon West (When a Stranger Calls) is on board as director with a script from David Guggenheim.
The project has making the rounds for a while. Heat Vision links Clive Owen and Jason Statham to the lead role in prior iterations. Medallion represents a reunion between West and Cage, who last teamed for Con Air in 1997.

Action maestro Simon West is attempting to jump back into the Hollywood spotlight. Having just wrapped the Jason Statham starrer The Mechanic for release next year, West will tackle Medallion based on a script from David Guggenheim, according to LA Times. No other details have emerged as to who will star in the action-thriller, though both Nicholas Cage and Clive Owen are rumored to have been attached to the project at one point. Fellow action-director McG will produce.
Guggenheim’s script focuses on a father searching for his kidnapped daughter, who has been locked in the back of an unidentified taxi cab. The father has only a few hours to locate his daughter, and save the day. West is next set to direct Protection with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, after which he will turn his attention to Medallion. Guggenheim recently scripted Safe House, which landed the star power of Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds. Hit the jump for more.
