Lionsgate has released a teaser trailer for director Patrick Hughes’ action sequel The Expendables 3. The follow-up finds Sylvester Stallone’s Barney Ross and his Expendables crew squaring off against Ross’ old partner Conrad Stonebanks, played by Mel Gibson. There’s no hint of that story in this first teaser trailer as the cast is simply too large to give everyone screentime in the time allotted. Taking that into account, everyone and their mother is wheeled out to strike an action pose in what’s essentially a cast introduction.
Hit the jump to watch the teaser trailer. The film also stars Wesley Snipes, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kelsey Grammer, Antonio Banderas, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Victor Ortiz, and Glen Powell. The Expendables 3 opens on August 15, 2014.
With director Patrick Hughes’ The Expendables 3 due August 15, 2014, I’d imagine we’re getting close to seeing the first trailer/footage from the film. As most of you know, the next installment has Sylvester Stallone’s Barney Ross and his Expendables crew squaring off against Ross’ old partner Conrad Stonebanks, played by Mel Gibson. Returning for the sequel are Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews and Arnold Schwarzenegger, with Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, and Harrison Ford joining the all-star cast along with Kellan Lutz, MMA star Ronda Rousey, welterweight boxing champion Victor Ortiz and Glen Powell. No matter what you think of The Expendables franchise, you have to admit it’s a hell of a cast, and one I can’t wait to see kicking ass next summer.
So while we wait for the first footage to hit, we were sent a promo poster which you can check out after the jump. It’s got the tag line, “Never send a boy to do a man’s job.”
Ten new images have been released from Robert Rodriguez’ Machete Kills. The film centers on Machete’s (Danny Trejo) quest to stop an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has plans to spread war and anarchy across the planet. Judging by what we’ve seen so far, it looks like more of the same, so if you liked the original Machete, then Machete Kills should be right up your alley of violence and mayhem. The movie is set to screen this evening as the opener of Fantastic Fest 2013, so expect some reactions to start hitting the Internet later tonight.
Hit the jump to check out the images. The film also stars Sofia Vergara, Michelle Rodriguez, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Alex Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror, and Mel Gibson. Machete Kills opens October 11th.
A new red-band trailer for director Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming sequel Machete Kills has been released online, and it’s just the right amount of silly. The film centers on Machete’s (Danny Trejo) quest to stop an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has plans to spread war and anarchy across the planet. The trailer shows off plenty of unbridled carnage at the hands of Trejo’s Machete, but we also get to see more of Mel Gibson’s villainous character, who describes himself as a “fucker-people-upper.” It remains to be seen whether the film will be fun and absurd rather than just absurd, but it looks like we’ll get to see one hell of a Mel Gibson performance regardless.

The film also stars Sofia Vergara, Michelle Rodriguez, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Alex Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding Jr., William Sadler, and Marko Zaror. Machete Kills opens in theaters on October 11th.
Today’s pleasant surprise is brought to you by Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills. We have 11 new images and one wacky poster from the upcoming sequel that show off the cast’s crazy looks while only hinting at the insanity that’s sure to come. On display are the title hero, Danny Trejo himself, in addition to Amber Heard, Michelle Rodriguez, Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson, Charlie Sheen and Jesse James. Sadly, no new looks at Sofia Vergara or Alexa Vega, but beggars can’t be choosers.

Lionsgate and Millennium Films have announced that principal photography on The Expendables 3 has begun in Bulgaria and at Nu Boyana Studios in Sofia. The upcoming film pits Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) and his team against his old partner Conrad Stonebanks (Mel Gibson). Stonebanks is out for revenge, and so Barney must round-up a gang of younger team members to join the Expendables. This is an odd synopsis considering that the high-profile new names are veterans Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, and Harrison Ford. The younger additions consist of Kellan Lutz, Glen Powell, MMA fighter Ronda Rousey, and boxing champion Victor Ortiz. The most notable aspect of the press release is the omissions. Deadline had previously reported that Nicolas Cage, Jackie Chan, and Milla Jovovich were on board, but they’re not mentioned in this press release. Additionally, Stallone had said that Mickey Rourke would return, but he’s also absent. Perhaps their roles were…dispensable.

The cast for The Expendables 3 continues to take shape. A few days ago, Sylvester Stallone revealed that Bruce Willis was out of the film, but that Harrison Ford had now joined the cast. Today, The Wrap reports that Mel Gibson has been confirmed to play the baddie in the pic and Antonio Banderas has signed on to join the action ensemble. Gibson was previously rumored to play the film’s antagonist after Stallone initially reached out to him about possibly directing, and now it appears that the deal has been closed. There’s no firm word on who Banderas will be playing, but one assumes it’ll be a middle-aged character proficient in badassery.
Red Hill director Patrick Hughes is taking the helm this time around, and other cast members include Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, Kellan Lutz, and Milla Jovovoich. The Expendables 3 opens in theaters on August 15, 2014.
A new trailer has been released for Robert Rodriguez’ Machete Kills. The film centers on Machete’s (Danny Trejo) quest to stop an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has plans to spread war and anarchy across the planet. This new trailer provides more of a “plot” synopsis, but mostly gives us a look at the supporting cast, which includes Lady Gaga, Cuba Gooding Jr., Antonio Banderas, and Mel Gibson as the villain. Judging by this new trailer, Rodriguez has run out of ways to make Machete fun and interesting, and is now just making a really long Funny or Die video where celebrities briefly take on ridiculous roles.
Hit the jump to check out the trailer. The film also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Sofia Vergara, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Alex Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, William Sadler, and Marko Zaror. Machete Kills will open Fantastic Fest 2013, and opens in wide release on October 11th.
We heard last month that Mel Gibson was eying the villain role in The Expendables 3. The intersection between Expendables fans and those who somehow remain in Gibson’s corner will find Sylvester Stallone‘s latest tweet interesting: “Mad Max vs Barney Ross……” Although the Lethal Weapon series is more in line with the Expendables approach to life, Stallone’s wording is slightly catchier than “Martin Riggs vs Barney Ross……” Notice that Stallone did not tweet “Mel Gibson has officially signed on to play the villain in The Expendables 3……,” so this is far from official. Stallone knows more than we do, but we will wait for more information on the nature and size of Gibson’s role, if he’s in the sequel at all.
Starring Stallone, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Jackie Chan, Nicolas Cage, Wesley Snipes, and Milla Jovovich, The Expendables 3 opens August 15, 2014.
As The Expendables 3 puts together its requisite cast of 80s and 90s action stars, it was probably only a matter of time before Mel Gibson joined the party. According to Showbiz411, sources are saying that Mel Gibson might play the villain in the third installment of the action franchise. Back in April, Sylvester Stallone tweeted/joked that Gibson should direct “EXPENDABLES FIVE”, but it wouldn’t surprise me if there was a place in the franchise for the rage-filled, anti-Semitic former movie star. He’s already playing his first villain role in Robert Rodriguez‘ Machete Kills, and these supporting baddies may be the only parts Gibson can get for the foreseeable future. Could anyone buy him as a hero again, and would any studio take the risk to find out? Considering that his last movie, the surprisingly entertaining Get the Gringo, went straight to VOD/DVD, probably not (and even in that movie, he played an anti-hero).
The Expendables 3 will star Stallone, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Jackie Chan, Nicolas Cage, Wesley Snipes, and Milla Jovovich. The movie opens August 15, 2014.
Open Road Films has released the first trailer for director Robert Rodriguez’s sequel Machete Kills. The film centers on Machete’s (Danny Trejo) quest to stop an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has plans to spread war and anarchy across the planet. This trailer was released on Yahoo!’s Spanish-language site, but the dialogue is in English. It looks like fun, but so did Machete, which made Trejo a supporting character in his own movie. A large cast is fun, but Rodriguez always seems to have trouble finding the right balance (he had the same problem with Once Upon a Time in Mexico). Hopefully, Machete Kills will be an improvement on the first film. [Update: We've added the English-language version, which is the same except now English-language speakers can understand the narration]

The film also stars Sofia Vergara, Michelle Rodriguez, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Alex Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror, and Mel Gibson. Machete Kills opens September 13th.
Director Robert Rodriguez’s sequel Machete Kills now has a release date, as the continued adventures of the titular Machete will commence on September 13th of this year. The pic is the second in a planned trilogy (the third film supposedly takes place in space) and centers on Machete’s (Danny Trejo) quest to stop an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has plans to spread war and anarchy across the planet. On the September release date, the pic will open opposite the dancing film Battle of the Year and the Aaron Eckhart-led action horror adaptation I, Frankenstein.

The second installment in a planned trilogy features Trejo as the former Mexican federale out to stop a madman and a billionaire arms dealer from unleashing war across the globe.
The crazy cast which crowds Trejo out of his screen time features Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demian Bichir, Alexa Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding, Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror and Mel Gibson. Filming is currently underway on Robert Rodriguez‘ Machete Kills, and the TV show Extra got to visit the set. They sat down with the director, and one of the film’s many stars, Mel Gibson. Gibson plays the movie’s villain, a dangerous arms dealer who is threatening the U.S. with nuclear attacks. In the fluff-piece interview with Extra, Gibson said he only spent a week filming his entire role, and his character is “an evil genius, kind of like a Bond villain, but also a gourmet chef.”
The large cast also added yet another actor with the talented William Sadler (The Shawshank Redemption) tweeting an image of the poster for his character, Sheriff Doakes. Hit the jump to check out the set video and poster. The film also stars Danny Trejo, Jessica Alba, Edward James Olmos, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Demian Bichir, Michelle Rodriguez, Lady Gaga, Alexa Vega, and Charlie Sheen.
