Written by Erica Oyama and directed by Ken Marino, the web series Burning Love, which can be watched on the Yahoo! Comedy Channel, follows fireman Mark Orlando (Marino) as he searches for the perfect woman.  The scripted comedy series features an impressive line-up of comedic actors from film and television, including Malin Akerman, Kristen Bell, Michael Ian Black, Adam Scott and more. Viewers will get a front row seat to the champagne toasts, candles, heartbreak, bubble baths, chocolate, hair extensions, betrayal and spray-tans.  And if that’s still not enough, you can follow its leading man on Twitter at @burninglovemark.

During this recent exclusive interview with Collider, actor/writer/producer/director Ken Marino talked about how this whole idea came about, why he wanted to direct it, the appeal of doing a web series, how they got such a great line-up of actors (including a hilarious A-lister cameo), how much improvisation went on, and whether anything was too outrageous.  He also talked about what he’s writing now, how his dream project would be to do an adaptation of the comic book Axe Cop, gave an update on the Party Down movie, and said how much he’s looking forward to Comic-Con.  Check out what he had to say after the jump.

Although he’s currently playing a big bad vampire on HBO’s True Blood, Christopher Meloni is now set to play a big, bad CEO in David Wain’s rom-com spoof, They Came Together. The picture reunites the Wet Hot American Summer director with stars Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler. Poehler’s character runs a small knick-knack shop that is about to go out of business thanks to Rudd’s company.  THR reports that Meloni will star as Rudd’s boss, the CEO of CorporateCo Coporation and Co, Inc.  Written by Wain and Michael Showalter, the picture plans to wrap up casting and shoot this July.  They Came Together also stars Ed Helms, Michael Ian Black, Jason Mantzoukas, Cobie Smulders and Noureen DeWulf.

Wet Hot American Summer director, David Wain, is adding some heat to his rom-com spoof They Came Together by way of Cobie Smulders (The Avengers) and Noureen DeWulf (Ocean’s Thirteen).  Michael Ian Black joins the reunion of Wain, Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler, as he too was part of 2001′s Wet Hot American Summer. The new film, which Wain calls “a spoof/homage/deconstruction/love letter to Romantic Comedies,” was also written by Wain and Michael Showalter, again pairing the former Wet Hot scribes.  Hit the jump to read more about They Came Together and less about Wet Hot American Summer.

We’ve been provided with 11 movie clips from director Michael Dowse’s Take Me Home Tonight.  The 80’s based comedy stars Topher Grace, Anna Faris, Dan Fogler, Teresa Palmer, Chris Pratt, Michelle Trachtenberg, Lucy Punch, Michael Ian Black, and Demetri Martin.  The film centers on a recent MIT grad (Grace) who gets invited, along with his best friend (Fogler) and twin sister (Faris), to an epic, end-of-summer 1988 party by his high-school crush (Palmer).  I caught a screening and while the film is by no means perfect, I laughed a lot.  If you’re a fan of movies from the 80’s, it’s definitely worth seeing.  Also, the soundtrack is great.  Hit the jump for the clips:

TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT Trailer and Poster

by     Posted: December 14th, 2010 at 5:25 pm

The trailer and poster for Take Me Home Tonight have been released.  Set in 1988, the film follows Matt Franklin (Topher Grace) through a crazy Labor Day weekend party as he chases after the girl of his dreams while encountering some bumps along the way (classic formula for a quasi-spiritual coming of age comedy). The trailer’s soundtrack was enough to get me excited, but I’ve also got a feeling that this film might prove to be more than just a Garden State set in the 80’s.  Take Me Home Tonight also stars Anna Faris, Dan Fogler, Teresa Palmer, Chris Pratt, Michelle Trachtenberg, Lucy Punch, Michael Ian Black, and Demetri Martin.  Hit the jump to check out the trailer and a synopsis of the film:

THE STATE The Complete Series DVD Review

A lot of time when you’ve waited anxiously for something for a long period of time, when that special something finally arrives in your greedy little paws, it turns out to be a bit of a disappointment. I was worried that my rose-colored glasses might have the better of me after the decade and a half wait for The State to come out on DVD.  About five minutes into viewing, I realized the worry was for naught – this collection can still make me laugh all these years later.  The nice thing – it will make you laugh too. My review is after the jump:
