A new red-band trailer is now online from writer/director Xan Cassavetes’ Kiss of the Damned.  Starring Milo Ventimiglia as Paolo, a screenwriter who falls for the vampiress Djuna (Josephine de La Baume), Kiss of the Damned takes audiences into vampire society and explores what happens when Djuna’s rogue sister Mimi (Roxane Mesquida) threatens to upset the balance.  I can’t tell if the new trailer is a grown up version of Twilight or a more serious take on True Blood, but it’s somewhere in between.  Kiss of the Damned will be available on demand March 28th and in theaters on May 3rd.  Hit the jump to check it out.

The new original series Chosen, available on Sony’s multi-platform online entertainment network Crackle, is a heart-pounding thriller that follows Ian Mitchell (Milo Ventimiglia, who is also an executive producer on the project), a husband, father and lawyer who discovers a mysterious box on his doorstep that contains a loaded gun and a photo of a stranger he is instructed to kill within the next three days.  Transformed into an unwilling assassin, Ian must risk everything to protect his family while looking for a way out of his predicament.

During this recent exclusive interview with Collider, actor/producer Milo Ventimiglia talked about why this web series appealed to him, how he first got involved with Crackle, when he started to see the viability of online programming, how much fun he had exploring such a full arc for his character in only six episodes, and how much he appreciates being in a position where he can contribute more, both creatively and on the business side of things.  He also talked about how excited he is to get back to work on Frank Darabont’s crime drama L.A. TNT is looking to further reshape the television landscape by developing Dean Koontz’s best-selling Frankenstein novels into a series and putting a six-episode series order on L.A. Noir, officially returning Frank Darabont (The Walking Dead) to TV.  James V. Hart (Dracula, Hook) and his son Jake Hart will script the modern-day retelling of the Mary Shelley mythology for the Frankenstein series.  Set in New Orleans, the story centers on a war between Dr. Victor Frankenstein and his monstrous creation, Helios. Each survived a fight in the arctic 200 years ago, but the not-so-good doctor has been busy crafting an army of creatures that answer only to him.  The two sides resume their war with New Orleans caught in the middle. Deadline reports that the elder Hart makes his series writing debut with Frankenstein, making him the most recent feature talent to transition to the small screen.  Hit the jump for more on Frankenstein as well as news on Darabont’s L.A. In today’s casting news, Parker Posey (The House of Yes) and Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes) are poised to join director Olivier Dahan’s Grace of Monaco.  The biopic, which stars Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly, centers on the Hollywood star’s involvement with Monaco’s Prince Rainier III during his financial difficulties under taxation from France’s Charles De Gaulle.

We also have word that Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns) has joined Jason Statham and James Franco in Gary Fledler’s Homefront. The adaptation of the Chuck Logan book centers on ex-DEA agent Phil Broker (Statham) who moves his family to a small town in hopes of a quieter life.  Instead, he runs afoul of a meth-pushing kingpin by the name of Gator (Franco).  Hit the jump for more details on these latest casting assignments.

The raunchy and outrageous comedy That’s My Boy tells the story of Donny Berger (Adam Sandler), an aimless loser who knocked up his smoking hot teacher when he was a teenager, and was left to raise their love child even though he was completely unprepared to be a parent.  Now, 30 years later, Todd (Andy Samberg) is all grown up and a successful Wall Street executive who hasn’t seen his father in years.  But, with Donny owing tens of thousands to the IRS, he figures that tracking down his son will not only give him the chance to ask for the money he needs to stay out of jail, but to also finally bond with his son.

At the film’s press day, writer/director Sean Anders talked to Collider for this exclusive interview about what made Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg the perfect pairing for this film, what he’d like to see on the DVD, and the collaboration he had with Sandler both in reworking the script and on set during filming.  He also talked about signing on to write and direct Three Mississippi (with partner John Morris), about two Philadelphia neighbors whose annual Thanksgiving game of tackle football has become extraordinarily heated, the possibility of a Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler pairing for the film, and the status of the Dumb and Dumber sequel with Jim Carrey.  Check out what he had to say after the jump.

There are two incredibly infuriating things about Adam Sandler: First, he makes movies that aren’t very good but they make boatloads of cash.  Second, he could make better movies, but he chooses not to since they might not make boatloads of cash.  It’s for these reasons that critics largely brush off Sandler’s movies even though they’re screened for press (which is more than I can say for the films of Paul W.S. Anderson).  There are brief times when Sandler will wander off the beaten track to do something “respectable” like Funny People or Punch-Drunk Love, but everything he does feels like a cynical calculation where he’ll inevitably come back to the safe confines of a lowest-common-denominator comedy.  That’s My Boy, his first R-rated feature since Punch-Drunk, shows brief glimmers of the Sandler we knew at the beginning of his film career, but those moments are drowned out by the lazy comedy for which he’s become infamous.

A couple of new trailers for the upcoming R-rated comedy That’s My Boy have gone online.  The first is a fairly straightforward red-band trailer for the film, and the second is a really funny trailer cut by Andy Samberg himself.  The red-band trailer actually has a few genuine laughs, and it reveals that Adam Sandler, who plays Samberg’s estranged father, pretends to be Samberg’s friend throughout some of the film because Samberg told his soon-to-be-in-laws that his dad was dead.  More fun, though, is a special trailer for the film that Samberg himself cut.  It almost plays like a fake trailer from Funny People, and Samberg appears to know exactly what That’s My Boy looks like from an outside perspective.  Though I’m cautious with every Sandler project nowadays given his recent output, I have to admit that these two trailers actually make That’s My Boy seem somewhat appealing.

Eight clips from the new comedy That’s My Boy have gone online.   The film stars Adam Sandler as rich party animal who tries to avoid going to jail for tax evasion by getting his estranged and independently-wealthy son (Andy Samberg) to front him the cash to pay back the IRS.  What’s more, the dad decides to make this play during the son’s upcoming nuptials.  The film marks Sandler’s first R-rated film since 1996’s Bulletproof, and features a supporting cast that includes Leighton Meester, James Caan, Milo Ventimiglia, Will Forte and Vanilla Ice.

Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes) is making the jump from network to cable television in Frank Darabont’s (The Walking Dead) TNT drama pilot, L.A. Noir. Set in the 1940s and 50s, L.A. Noir is billed as a fast-paced crime drama based on the book, “L.A. Noir: The Struggle for the Soul of America’s Most Seductive City” by author, John Buntin. Darabont will write, direct and produce L.A. Noir and will reunite with a cast member from AMC’s hit series, The Walking Dead. Hit the jump to see more on L.A. The casting of John McClane was never in question, even if the fifth installment in the Die Hard franchise did struggle with landing a director (they settled on John Moore). But McClane can’t keep dodging bullets forever; sooner or later his son will have to inherit the famous one-liner. The shortlist for actors to fill Bruce Willis’s shoes is rumored to be as follows: Ben Foster (The Mechanic), Paul Dano (Little Miss Sunshine), Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes) and Paul Walker (Fast Five). All of the above actors are expected to test with Willis, except for Walker, who Fox has a strong interest in. Plot details are thin at the moment, though we do know the film will be set in Russia and will involve some father/son crime fighting. To see why this will probably be the first Die Hard to make me cry, hit the jump.

The trailer for Xavier Gens’ indie horror flick The Divide has gone online.  The plot centers on a handful of apartment residents who witness a nuclear attack outside their window and take shelter in the building’s basement.  However, they soon have to contend with human threats both external and internal.  Bill found the film effectively dark but a little too draining and limited by its budget.  Outside of Bill’s review, I heard somewhat negative reactions to the film, but the trailer makes it look pretty good (aside from the single-tear shot at the beginning).  The movie also looks like it will be a nice reminder that Michael Biehn should not be kept in confined spaces.

What hasn’t been explored in the post-apocalyptic genre before? Ponder that before you jump into another film in that genre and you will realize how hard writers and directors have to work to just make something memorable. Luckily for The Divide, making a memorable experience is something they have achieved. The question is, will you want to remember your experience? That’s exactly what I thought over after leaving the basement of a bar where the screening too place last Friday in San Diego. Hit the jump for my full review.

We’ve got quite a few casting stories for you today. First up, Susan Sarandon has joined the cast of the Adam Sandler/Andy Samberg comedy I Hate You Dad. The comedy revolves around a father who moves in with his son and his son’s fiancé just before they’re about to get married, with Leighton Meester set to play Samberg’s fiancée. THR reports that in addition to Sarandon, Will Forte, Milo Ventimiglia, Eva Amurri (Californication), Blake Clark, Meagan Fay (Party Down), Tony Orlando, Dan Patrick and previously announced James Caan are all in negotiations to join the Sean Anders-directed comedy. Sarandon will play a sexy teacher who is the mother of Samberg’s character.

Additionally, Jennifer Hudson is the latest actor to join the cast of the Farrelly brothers’ The Three Stooges. The film stars Will Sasso as Curly, Sean Hayes as Larry, Chris Diamantopoulos as Moe, Jane Lynch, Larry David, Stephen Collins and Craig Bierko. Deadline reports that Hudson will play Sister Rosmary at the orphanage that the Stooges are raised. Lynch and David play two other (presumably evil) nuns at the orphanage. The Three Stooges is currently filming. Formerly seen together on-screen as the Petrelli brothers on Heroes, Adrian Pasdar and Milo Ventimiglia will now team up behind the mic under the Marvel Television banner. At their WonderCon panel, Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb announced that Pasdar and Ventimiglia will voice the title roles of the new Iron Man and Wolverine anime series:

“Adrian and Milo are perfect as Iron Man and Wolverine [respectively]. It’s extremely exciting to see these talented guys take on two of the most iconic super hero roles of all time.”

The Iron Man series will feature Tony Stark traveling to Japan to take on the Zodiac consortium while Wolverine, also in Japan, battles the criminal underworld. Each anime series, along with Blade and X-Men will appear exclusively on the G4 network here in the US. G4 will air an exclusive clip from Wolverine on this Wednesday’s Attack of the Show at 7pm ET/PT. Hit the jump for the full press release and an Iron Man anime trailer.

Now that Heroes is dead and buried, the cast has plenty of free time to move on to other projects, potentially even projects that have compelling storylines and logical character motivations.  The Wrap reports that Milo Ventimiglia is moving on to the 3D thriller Static and will join Sara Paxton (Last House on the Left) and Sarah Shahi (The L Word).  The story centers on “a young couple (Ventimiglia and Shahi) who are on the verge of divorce after the loss of their child, but their world changes when a young visitor arrives, bringing supernatural implications to the household.”  So it’s like Rabbit Hole but in 3D with supernatural implications! Score!

Static will mark the feature directing debut of commercial director Todd Levin.  Despite being in 3D, the film’s budget is set at less than $1 million and will control costs by using Sony’s PMW-F3 cameras, which are the company’s answer to the popular RED 3D camera.
