Pixar has released the first full-length trailer for Inside Out. From director Pete Docter (Up, Monsters, Inc.), the film explores the inner world of an 11-year-old girl, Riley Anderson (Kaitlyn Dias), where the personifications of her emotions run the show. When Riley is uprooted from her home in the Midwest so her father can take a new job in San Francisco, Fear (Bill Hader), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling), and Joy (Amy Poehler) try to help her cope with the sudden change. This trailer is a fantastic introduction to the world of the film, as we see how the emotions inside Riley and both of her parents react to tense situation around the dinner table. This really feels like the kind of inspired, unique, and funny filmmaking that we came to expect from the folks at Pixar before their run of somewhat disappointing releases, and I’m really hoping Inside Out acts as a sort of return to form for the studio. Judging by this swell trailer, I’d say the odds are very, very good.
Watch the first Inside Out trailer after the jump. The film also stars Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan as the voices of Riley’s parents and hits theaters in 3D on June 19, 2015.
