First PAN Trailer Reveals Joe Wright’s Reimagining of the Classic Story Featuring Hugh Jackman

by     Posted 24 days ago

Warner Bros. has released the first Pan trailer for director Joe Wright’s (Hanna) reimagining of the classic J.M. Barrie story Peter Pan.  The film finds newcomer Levi Miller’s young Pan, along with other young wartime orphans, being kidnapped by the men of the dreaded pirate Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman), thus beginning a series of adventures in Neverland that shape the boy into the hero known to generations as Peter Pan.  I think Wright is a talented director, but it looks like he made a prequel to Hook. I couldn’t help but laugh at the part in the trailer when kids from the Oliver Twist Home for Orphan Boys are abducted onto a flying ship.  “What happened to Peter?”  “He was kidnapped by Cirque du Soleil.”

Check out the first Pan trailer after the jump.  The film also stars Garrett Hedlund as Hook, Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily, Amanda Seyfried as Mary, as well as Adeel Akhtar, Jack Charles, Taejoo Na, Nonso Anozie, Kathy Burke, Kurt Egyiawan, Lewis Macdougall, and Leni ZieglmeierPan opens in theaters on July 17, 2015.

New CINDERELLA Trailer, Poster, and Images: Disney Classic Comes to Live-Action with Lily James, Richard Madden, and Cate Blanchett

by     Posted 30 days ago

Disney has released a new Cinderella trailer and poster along with new images for director Kenneth Branagh’s live-action iteration of the classic story.  The movie is the traditional rags-to-riches story we know with a few twists like Cinderella (Lily James) meeting the prince (Richard Madden) before knowing he’s a prince, and the fairy godmother (Helena Bonham Carter) appearing in the guise of an old, beggar woman.  But the nefarious evil stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and wicked stepsisters (Sophie McShera and Holliday Granger) are still in place.  It looks like Branagh has stayed incredibly faithful to the 1950 Disney animated film, and this trailer is basically a condensed, live-action version of that entire movie.  I guess if you’re more into flesh-and-blood actors combined with lots of CG, then this will be the Cinderella for you.

Hit the jump to watch the new Cinderella trailer, poster, and images.  The film also stars Nonso AnozieDerek Jacobi, and Stellan Skarsgard, and opens in theaters on March 13, 2015.

Amanda Seyfried, Nonso Anozie, and More Join Joe Wright’s PAN Starring Hugh Jackman; Production Begins April 28th

by     Posted 239 days ago

Filming on Joe Wright‘s Peter Pan prequel, Pan, begins in a few days, and now the production has rounded out the cast.  The film “tells the untold story of how a young orphan boy from London is spirited away to the magical Neverland where he finds great adventures that shape him into the hero known to generations as Peter Pan.”  New additions to the film include Amanda Seyfried as Mary; Jack Charles (Mystery Road) as The Chief/Tiger Lily’s father; Taejoo Na (The Kick) as Kwahu; Nonso Anozie (Ender’s Game) as Bishop; Kathy Burke (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) as Mother Barnabas; Kurt Egyiawan (Skyfall) as Murray; Lewis MacDougall (In the Name of the Children) as Nibs; and newcomer Leni Zieglmeier as Wendy Darling.

These actors will join the already announced cast members—Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard; Garrett Hedlund (TRON Legacy) as Hook; Rooney Mara (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) as Tiger Lily; Adeel Akhtar (The Dictator) as Smee; and Levi Miller as Peter.  With so many characters, I’m not sure how closely Wright’s version will resemble the Peter Pan we all know, but knowing Wright, I’m sure it will at least be a visual feast.  Hit the jump for the press release.  Pan opens July 17, 2015.

First Clip from JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT Features Chris Pine, Kevin Costner and Nonso Anozie in Action

by     Posted 350 days ago

The first clip from Kenneth Branagh’s Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit is now online and it’s a doozy.  Since Chris Pine (Star Trek) is stepping into the title character’s shoes for the first time, his toughness has to be established right off the bat; this clip does just that.  Not only does it show that Ryan can handle himself as a CIA analyst turned operative, it highlights his greatest asset: not a physical attribute, but rather his strategic mind.  I also like the fact that this extended clip shows the repercussions of Ryan’s actions rather than just sweeping them under the rug.

Also starring Kevin Costner, Keira Knightley, Nonso Anozie, Colm Feore and Branagh himself, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit opens January 17th.  Hit the jump to watch the extended clip and for more commentary from the actors.

Filming Begins on Kenneth Branagh’s Live-Action CINDERELLA; First Image and Official Synopsis Released

by     Posted 1 year, 87 days ago

Principal photography has begun on Kenneth Branagh‘s live-action version of Cinderella, and Disney has provided a press release containing the first image and official synopsis.  For the most part, it’s the story we all know: nice girl, treated badly by step-mothers and step-sisters, eventually gets to a happily ever after with the prince.  Looking at the synopsis, there are two big changes: she meets the prince in the woods one day without knowing he’s the prince, and “a kindly beggar woman” is probably the fairy godmother considering she’s “armed with a pumpkin and a few mice.”  Because if a beggar woman comes to you with a pumpkin and some mice, she’s clearly going to make your dreams come true.

Hit the jump for the image and the press release.  The film stars Lily James, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Richard Madden, Sophie McShera, Holliday Granger, Nonso Anozie, Derek Jacobi, and Stellan SkarsgardCinderella opens March 13, 2015.

6 Character Posters for ENDER’S GAME Starring Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, and Harrison Ford

by     Posted 1 year, 155 days ago

Summit Entertainment has released six new character posters for Ender’s Game.  The film tells the story of Andrew “Ender” Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a young boy sent away to Battle School to hone his military skills in order to save the world from an impending alien invasion.  Rather than give you the names of the actors, these new posters provide the character names, so these are more for the fans of the book since the name “Hyrum Graff” doesn’t really mean anything to the uninitiated other than “Harrison Ford is playing a guy named Hyrum Graff.  That’s an odd name.”  Fans will note that Major Anderson’s gender has been changed to female for the movie, which isn’t a big deal, especially when you have a talented actress like Viola Davis for the role.

Hit the jump to check out the posters.  The film also stars Hailee Steinfeld, Nonso Anozie, and Ben KingsleyEnder’s Game opens November 1st.

ENDER’S GAME to be Released in IMAX, Plus New Production Updates

by     Posted 2 years, 130 days ago

For a project that has the epic scope of Ender’s Game, it’s only fitting that the film be released in IMAX.  Fans can look forward to seeing the adaptation of the beloved Orson Scott Card novel in IMAX format when it debuts in theaters November 1st, 2013.  The sci-fi film from director Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) follows Andrew “Ender” Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a boy trained at a military battle school in the hopes that he’ll develop a strategy to defeat the alien menace known as the Formics.  This will make two big features for Lionsgate being released in the same month (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire releases November 22nd), two properties the studio hopes will continue to bear box-office fruit.  But before Catching Fire can sweep Ender’s Game aside, the sci-fi film will have three weeks to build up a big payday and, hopefully, a bigger following.  Hit the jump for more updates on Ender’s Game from the film’s production blog.

What’s Filming Where, Including IRON MAN 3, DJANGO UNCHAINED, THE TOMB, ENDER’S GAME and More

You’re driving down the street, and it’s suddenly blocked off.  You notice these weird yellow signs with nonsensical letters or numbers.  There’s unusual glow lighting up a neighborhood you can’t usually see from your house.  What you might have here is a film company shooting in your town.  It happens a lot, and you never know where they might pop up…until now.

The following is a semi-comprehensive list of films currently shooting, what they’re shooting, and where they’re shooting.  We’ll be telling you where you might get to see the very famous, the kinda famous and (if all goes well) the soon-to-be famous. While we can’t list every single movie, television show, or student film in production, you’ll get a pretty good idea of what the heck is going on where all those people are buzzing about.  Want to know where in the world are Matt Damon, Harrison Ford, Sylvester Stallone, Woody Harrelson, and Leonardo DiCaprio? ENDER’S GAME Updates from Producer Roberto Orci; Talks About Kubrick Influence, Favorite Scene, Zero G Battles and More

by     Posted 2 years, 215 days ago

Harrison Ford reportedly called Ender’s Game, “one of the most emotional science fiction movies he has ever seen.”  If you’re a fan of Orson Scott Card’s award-winning novel, this article should let you breathe a little easier about the upcoming Gavin Hood adaptation.  While I was a bit leery about Hood’s attachment to my beloved property (see X-Men Origins: Wolverine), the Ender’s Game production blog has been shedding some interesting light on the filmmaker’s approach.  Hood and producer Roberto Orci (Star Trek) really seem to get the gist of the novel; that should elicit a sigh of relief followed quickly by a jolt of excitement from fans.  Orci recently participated in a Q&A on the blog in which he commented on the tone of the picture, the relationship between Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and Ender (Asa Butterfield), as well as his favorite scenes.

Ender’s Game tells the story of Andrew “Ender” Wiggin, a young boy sent away to Battle School to hone his military skills and, hopefully, save the world from an impending alien invasion.  Also starring Abigail Breslin, Sir Ben Kingsley, Hailee Steinfeld, Nonso Anozie and Viola Davis, the picture opens November 1st, 2013.  We’ve also got some images from the production, so hit the jump to check it out!

John Turturro Circles PAIN AND GAIN, Adrianne Palicki Goes to COFFEE TOWN and Nonso Anozie Joins ENDER’S GAME

by     Posted 2 years, 305 days ago

In between rebooting his own series with Transformers 4 and producing a live-action reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Michael Bay has finally managed to find some time for his passion project, Pain and Gain. John Turturro, a familiar face to the Transformers franchise, is reportedly circling a role. The dark comedy is based on the true story of two Miami bodybuilders who get caught up in an extortion scam and a kidnapping gone awry.

Other casting news reports that Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights) will join Glenn Howerton (Always Sunny in Philadelphia) for the R-rated CollegeHumor picture, Coffee Town. Production is set to begin next week in Los Angeles. Finally, the most recent addition to the superb Ender’s Game cast is The Grey’s Nonso Anozie. Hit the jump for details on each project.

THE GREY Unleashes New Clips and Poster Featuring Liam Neeson

by     Posted 2 years, 342 days ago

Pop quiz, hot shot: you have a choice between facing a pack of hungry wolves protecting their territory in the Alaskan wilderness or Liam Neeson armed with broken-bottle glass-knuckles. Before you answer, you should check out these new clips from Neeson’s upcoming “man vs nature” flick, The Grey. In it, Neeson leads a crew of oil rig roughnecks in a race for survival after their plane crashes in the barren north. We’ve previously brought you two different trailers and even marked the film as one of “Collider’s Most Anticipated” of early 2011. What else do you want from us? Oh, right. The clips.

The Grey, by director Joe Carnahan, also stars Frank Grillo, Dermot Mulroney, Dallas Roberts, Joe Anderson, James Badge Dale and Nonso Anozie. It opens in theaters January 27th. Hit the jump to check out the clips and a new banner poster.

New Trailer for THE GREY

by     Posted 3 years, 17 days ago

A new trailer has gone online for Joe Carnahan’s survival-action flick The Grey.  Once again, Liam Neeson plays a man with a very special set of skills, but this time it’s about surviving against the wild rather than surviving Paris.  Neeson’s character must help a group of oil-rig roughnecks after their plane crashes in the Alaskan wilderness.  I’ve enjoyed all of Carnahan’s previous movies (Narc, Smokin’ Aces, and The A-Team) and I can’t remember the last time we saw a solid men-vs-wild movie (maybe The Edge?  It has Anthony Hopkins rasslin’ grizzly bears).  I continue to hope that this movie delivers with the force of broken-bottle knuckles.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film also stars Frank Grillo, Dermot Mulroney, Dallas Roberts, Joe Anderson, James Badge Dale, and Nonso AnozieThe Grey opens January 27, 2012.

Trailer for Joe Carnahan’s THE GREY Starring Liam Neeson

by     Posted 3 years, 89 days ago

The first trailer for Joe Carnahan’s men vs. wolves drama The Grey has gone online.  The story centers on a group of oil-rig roughnecks who are stranded in the Alaskan wilderness after their plane crashes.  They must battle to survive their injuries, the cold, hunger, and wolves.  The wolves apparently play a big role.  This trailer mostly highlights Liam Neeson and distributors Open Road are hoping they can net him an Oscar nomination for his performance.  There’s also a little bit of Carnahan’s trademark insanity on display when you see Neeson breakout the broken-bottle knuckles to fight wolves.  The trailer is selling the film as a drama but there’s definitely some fun to be had.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer who leads a cast that includes Frank Grillo, Dermot Mulroney, Dallas Roberts, Joe Anderson, James Badge Dale, and Nonso Anozie.  The Grey opens January 27, 2012, but there may be a brief Oscar-qualifying run in December if Open Road thinks it has a serious shot at putting Neeson in the awards race.

The first image from Joe Carnahan’s upcoming wolf-vs-man thriller The Grey has gone online.  The film stars Liam Neeson, Dallas Roberts (Rubicon), James Badge Dale (Rubicon), Dermot Mulroney (Inhale), Frank Grillo (My Soul to Take), Nonso Anozie (RocknRolla), and Joe Anderson (The Crazies) as a group of oilmen who have crash landed in the hunting zone of a rogue pack of wolves in the Alaskan tundra.  As for making the wolves come off as threatening, Carnahan says he plans to take the “I know that if you look at a wolf for too long, it’s just a [cuddly] malamute. So we’re doing the Jaws approach. They’re like the slasher in a slasher movie.”

Joe Carnahan’s THE GREY Gets the Green Light; James Badge Dale, Dermot Mulroney, and More Join Cast

by     Posted 3 years, 348 days ago

After the big-budget, dumb-fun fare of The A-Team, director Joe Carnahan is going back to gritty indie fare with The Grey.  The film centers on a group of oil-rig roughnecks who survive a plane crash.  Normally, that makes you one of the luckiest people on the planet.  Unfortunately for this group, their plane happens to crash right in the middle of a hunting zone of a rogue pack of wolves in the Alaskan tundra.  As we previously reported, Liam Neeson will lead the film, and according to Deadline, he’ll be joined by Dallas Roberts (Rubicon), James Badge Dale (Rubicon), Dermot Mulroney (Inhale),  Frank Grillo (My Soul to Take), Nonso Anozie (RocknRolla), and Joe Anderson (The Crazies).

The film now has a green light and production will begin next week.  Hit the jump for what Carnahan had to say about the film.
