J.J. Abrams Could Be Involved with a PORTAL or HALF-LIFE Movie

by     Posted 1 year, 317 days ago

It appears as though spearheading both the Star Trek and Star Wars franchises just might not be enough for J.J. Abrams.  Though it’s been clear that Abrams is keen on juggling multiple producorial projects at once by way of his Bad Robot banner, he might eventually have his hands on yet another couple of geek-friendly properties: Portal and Half-Life.  Speaking during a keynote conversation for DICE earlier today with Valve co-founder Gabe Newell, the prospect of feature film adaptations of the wildly popular video games Portal and Half-Life came up, and Newell expressed his desire to have Abrams involved with the films.  Hit the jump for more.

Cosplay at London Comic-Con: Check Out Over 100 Pictures Featuring STAR WARS, DOCTOR WHO, BATMAN, PORTAL and More

by     Posted 2 years, 53 days ago

One of my favorite things about Comic-Con are all the people that cosplay.  Since I’d never been to a convention outside the United States, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I went to London Comic-Con yesterday afternoon.  Would anyone dress up?  Are fans in London the same as the rest of the world?  After spending hours walking around the convention, I’m happy to report geeks and nerds are the same no matter where you live.

However, while many at London Comic-Con cosplay, I found more people dressed up as their favorite anime/manga/video game character instead of a movie/TV show character.  Since I only attended London Comic-Con yesterday, it’s possible that over the weekend, the percentage would be the same.  Either way, some of the costumes were pretty great, so hit the jump to check out about 100 pictures including Doctor Who, The Last Airbender, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Thor, Portal, Batman, Zelda, Mortal Kombat, and a lot more.

New York Comic-Con: Guillermo Del Toro Talks PACIFIC RIM and the Prequel Graphic Novel

by     Posted 2 years, 68 days ago

We only saw a little bit of Pacific Rim at San Diego Comic-Con, but what we saw looked terrific.  It was the unique vision and boldness that could only come from a director like Guillermo Del Toro.  Del Toro is known not only for the richness of his stories, but for the detailed worlds he sets those stories in.  Pacific Rim will be no different, and Del Toro and screenwriter Travis Beacham came to New York Comic-Con to appear on Legendary Comics’ panel, so they could talk about the movie as well as the prequel graphic novel that was announced yesterday.

Hit the jump for what Del Toro and Beacham had to say about the graphic novel, turning the movie 3D, the personality of the monsters, a minor Portal reference, and more.  Click here for all of our New York Comic-Con coverage.
