On The CW drama series Cult, investigative journalist Jeff Sefton (Matthew Davis) has learned to live with his younger brother Nate’s obsessions, including his latest rant that a hit TV show intends to harm him. However, when his brother mysteriously disappears, Jeff takes Nate’s paranoia seriously and beings to uncover the dark underworld of the TV show centered on the cat-and-mouse game between a charismatic cult leader (Robert Knepper) and the detective (Alona Tal) who was once a cult member, and its rabid fans.
During this recent exclusive interview with Collider, actor Robert Knepper talked about the unique opportunity of playing both cult leader Billy Grimm and Roger Reeves, the actor portraying that character, finding a balance between the two roles, getting to have moments where he talks directly to the camera, what it’s been like to be a part of shows that have had rabid followings, how much fun he had revisiting his Prison Break character, T-Bag, for an episode of Breakout Kings, getting to be a part of Frank Darabont’s L.A. detective show for TNT (originally titled L.A. Noir, and recently renamed Lost Angels), the experience of working with Jeff Bridges, Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Bacon on R.I.P.D., and how even he still gets a little starstruck sometimes. Check out what he had to say after the jump.

The first trailer for SEAL Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden has gone online. With as historical an event as the death of bin Laden, you would think that either this film or Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty would have provided a sense of tension, raised stakes or even a question of moral ambiguity that surely came with the operation. Neither trailer gives a sense of this, so at least SEAL Team Six isn’t out of its league with Bigelow’s bigger budget.
SEAL Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden, aka Code Name: Geronimo, stars Cam Gigandet, Anson Mount, Freddy Rodriquez, Xzibit, Kathleen Robertson, Eddie Kay Thomas, Kenneth Miller, Robert Knepper and William Fichtner. Written by Kendall Lampkin, SEAL Team Six: The Raid on Osama Bin Laden premieres on the National Geographic Channel on Sunday November 4th, just before election day. TV pilots are always tricky. Even the best show can start out rough. Seinfeld took three seasons before it hit its stride. With this in mind, one has to consider not just what is shown on screen, but what also the potential of what is not. Cult, the new meta-series from Farscape mastermind Rockne S. O’Bannon, has an especially rough pilot, but it also has great potential. Hit the jump for a summary of the pilot and more info on the show.

We have a couple of quick casting stories for you this afternoon. First up, Robert Knepper has joined Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges in Robert Schwentke’s supernatural action flick R.I.P.D. The story centers on two deceased cops (Reynolds and Bridges) who come back to Earth to police rogue spirits (known as “Deados”) who refuse to depart our world. According to Heat Vision, Knepper, who is probably best known for his role as creepy hick Theodore ‘T-Bag’ Bagwell on Prison Break, will play a “Deado” although the size of his character’s role is unknown. The film is currently filming in Boston and also stars Kevin Bacon, Mary Louise-Parker, Stephanie Szostak, Marissa Miller, and James Hong. R.I.P.D. is set to open on June 28, 2013.

With NBC’s “Heroes” set to return next week with its season premiere, we’ve been provided with 6 clips from the two hour episode. So if you’ve been waiting all summer for the return of the show, after the jump you can see some new footage. Since I’ve already written about my thoughts on the show, I’m just going to leave you with the clips. Also, I’m in Toronto at the Film Festival and have got a lot to write about…but I’ll say it again, getting Ray Park on the show was a smart move. In one of the clips you can see his powers.

While I have serious issues with NBC’s “Heroes”, I still watch every week. As I have said repeatedly on Collider, if you put people with super powers on TV, I’ll tune in. I know I have a problem.
Anyway, each season I always think this will be the year “Heroes” gets it right. They’ll finally write the show with some intelligence and come up with an interesting storyline. But then the show premieres, and I get mad that I still watch. So will this be the year “Heroes” turns it around? Probably not. But they have added Robert Knepper and Ray Park, so they’ve at least done something right. Anyhow, NBC has just released the synopsis for the two hour premiere airing September 21st, so if you want to know what the premiere is about, click the jump. When NBC releases clips I’ll post them.
