Director Kathryn Bigelow’s Zero Dark Thirty has stirred up quite a lot of awards buzz lately, thanks in part to Jessica Chastain’s performance. Chastain is front and center in this final trailer for the picture. There’s plenty of new footage to go around in addition to the reveal of more side-plots, since we already know how the operation to kill Osama bin Laden worked out. The added musical accompaniment of a children’s choir singing Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” puts this thing over the top; I wish it was in theaters right now.
Written by Mark Boal, Zero Dark Thirty also stars Kyle Chandler, Chris Pratt, Mark Strong, Scott Adkins, Joel Edgerton and James Gandolfini. The film opens in limited release on December 19th, then expands nationwide on January 11th. Hit the jump to watch the powerful final trailer.

A new red-band trailer has gone online for writer/director John Hyams’ Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning, starring Dolph Lundgren, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Scott Adkins and Andrei Arlovski. This trailer leans heavily on the psychological mind-fuckery that comes with being turned into a universal soldier, but it’s equally focused on the action as well. The only downside is the intermittent blasts of seizure-inducing strobes that flicker over cast intros or quotes from movie sites. If you can get through that without experiencing an epileptic event, then you’ll be sure to enjoy the brutality of this red-band trailer. Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning is available On Demand starting October 25th with a theatrical release on November 30th. Hit the jump to watch the new trailer.

A new trailer for director Kathryn Bigelow’s (The Hurt Locker) thriller Zero Dark Thirty has been released. The film documents the decade-long hunt for Osama bin Laden, culminating in the now-famous SEAL Team Six operation. The new cut is heads above the first trailer, in which a war room speech presided over the trailer with scenes of covert operations taking place. This time around, we actually see the words being spoken in the war room as well as the soldiers in the thick of it, with their boots on the ground. And the sense of tension here is much more palpable, as it should be.
Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The film stars Jessica Chastain, Chris Pratt, Mark Strong, Scott Adkins, Joel Edgerton, James Gandolfini, and Kyle Chandler. Zero Dark Thirty opens on December 19th.

The live-action series Metal Hurlant Chronicles has finally solidified a debut date; unfortunately it won’t be in the States. Based on the French comics anthology Metal Hurlant (translated directly as “screaming metal” and known in the States as Heavy Metal), Metal Hurlant Chronicles will debut in France with talks to expand into the UK and Germany. Each 26-minute long episode will center on one heroic arc in a world that combines a Game of Thrones-type fantasy setting with sci-fi elements. Directed by Guillaume Lubrano and starring Scott Adkins, Michael Jai white, Rutger Hauer, Darren Shahlavi and Matt Mullins, Metal Hurlant Chronicles is finally seeing the light this month. The military drama looks to tell the story behind the story of Osama bin Laden’s death on May 2, 2011 during an operation by the Navy’s SEAL Team Six. The trailer hints at a more intimate breakdown of the events leading up to bin Laden’s death rather than making it a more distant political thriller.

If action movies of the 80s and 90s are my religion, then The Expendables 2 just gave me my last rites. Lionsgate is letting us premiere a new poster that features the entire kick-ass cast assembled along one of the most famous tables in artistic history. While scholars have deciphered Da Vinci’s painting “The Last Supper” for centuries, the companion image from The Expendables 2 is more my style, complete with guns, skulls and plenty of booze.
Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Chuck Norris, Dolph Lundgren, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Liam Hemsworth, Scott Adkins and Yu Nan star in the sequel to Stallone’s bone-breaking 2010 original film. Directed by Simon West, The Expendables 2 opens August 17th. Hit the jump to see the exclusive poster.

I make no apologies for being excited about The Expendables 2, regardless of how over the top and absurd it might look. Actually, I’m excited because of that, not in spite of it. So now that we’ve got a look at the first clip from the film, I’m happy to say that it’s more or less what you would have expected if you were a fan of the first film. It features Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) and Lee Christmas (Jason Statham) trading bullets, explosions and one-liners with a gang of mercenaries. Lucky for the expendable duo, they brought backup.
Simon West’s The Expendables 2, also starring Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Liam Hemsworth, Yu Nan, Chuck Norris, Scott Adkins and Jean Claude Van Damme, opens August 17th. Hit the jump to check out the clip.

And we’ve got mutual friends in The Monocular Group, who have put this awesome fan trailer together for The Expendables 2. These men include Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris, Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Jet Li, Randy Couture and Terry Crews. The Expendables 2 also stars Liam Hemsworth, who has something to prove, and Scott Adkins, who should feel right at home with this crew.
