Well, that didn’t take long. Filming on director Jose Padilha‘s Robocop reboot began in Toronto today and already the first images of Joel Kinnaman as the part man/part machine in his new coat of armor have surfaced online. As a diehard fan of Paul Verhoeven‘s original, it’s likely that no design for RoboCop’s new suit would have been able to escape my scorn. In an attempt to remain as civil as possible, though, I’ll say the sleek, trimmed down design looks to give Murphy a more lightweight approach than the original. In terms of contemporary design comparisons, I’m thinking Dredd 3D meets Pacific Rim. Check out both images of Kinnaman and his new suit after the jump.
Currently slated to hit theaters on August 9th, 2013, Padilha’s Robocop reboot also stars Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Jay Baruchel, and Jackie Earle Haley. [Update: Click here to check out the new hi-res teaser banner for the film]

The Counselor is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated films of 2013. Ridley Scott is directing, the film marks the screenwriting debut of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Cormac McCarthy (No Country for Old Men, The Road), and the cast is insane: Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, and Breaking Bad’s Dean Norris. The story centers on an attorney (Fassbender) who gets in over his head when he teams with Bardem’s character to sell $20 million worth of cocaine. Though this may seem a simple premise, we can reasonably expect a great deal of depth given that this comes from the mind of McCarthy.
Production is now firmly underway and the first image of Pitt on the London set has hit the web. This marks a reteaming of sorts for the actor and his Thelma and Louise director, and in this first image Scott looks to have Pitt back in the cowboy hat. Hit the jump to take a look and to see what Pitt had to say about his involvement in the film.

Production on the long-gestating sequel to The Chronicles of Riddick is finally underway, and star Vin Diesel kicked things off right by giving fans a look at himself in full costume on set. David Twohy returns to write and direct Riddick, and quite a few exciting new names have come onboard the project. Battlestar Galactica’s Katee Sackhoff plays Dahl, a Nordic mercenary tasked with tracking down the titular anti-hero, and Jordi Molla (Bad Boys II) plays Santana, a leader of an eight-man crew bent on killing Riddick (long story short, everyone wants to kill Riddick). Karl Urban is reprising his role as Lord Vaako, and Diesel looks comfortably familiar back in his Riddick garb.

To be completely honest, I quietly hope to myself that set artifacts from Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises will hit when I’m off of work so that I can avoid them at all cost. Up until now, I’ve been pretty lucky to have missed a majority of the images, videos, and/or image/video descriptions. However, tonight my luck has run out.
A new pic snapped around the Wabash Tunnel in Pittsburgh has surfaced and it reveals some sort of new Bat-vehicle. If you simply cannot wait to feast your eyes on the newest detail to come out of The Dark Knight Rises‘ Pittsburgh shoot, check out the set photo after the jump. Also, if more spoils are what you’re after, click here to check out new set videos featuring the first look at Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the film. The Dark Knight Rises opens July 20, 2012.
UPDATED with video after the images.

The first image of Glenn Close on the Dublin set of Albert Nobbs has landed online. In the film, Close plays an English woman who disguises herself as a male (pretty convincingly, I might add) so as to land a job as a butler in 19th century Ireland. In addition to starring, Close is also credited as a producer and co-writer. Joining the five-time Academy Award nominee in the film are Michael Gambon (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I), Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Showtime’s The Tudors), Aaron Johnson (Kick-Ass), and Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland). Rodrigo García directs (HBO’s In Treatment).
Hit the jump to check out the image as well as an official synopsis. Albert Nobbs is based on the short story by George Moore and is currently looking at a 2011 release.

New set photos and a new set video for Michael Bay’s Transformers 3 have popped up online. The set photos won’t blow your mind unless you find lead actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley attractive (she doesn’t do much for me, personally). However, one of the images has her wearing a bizarre/great apron that’s worth checking out.
There’s also another video of the moving platform set that we reported on a couple weeks ago. This new video is of the “tilting” set during a night shoot. You see something like that or a memo to the production office that “stuntmen skydiving from helicopters and deploying parachutes at low altitudes while being filmed from a second helicopter,” next Sunday in Chicago, and you don’t really need any reminder that Michael Bay is making this movie. Hit the jump to check out the photos and the video. Transformers 3 hits theaters on July 1, 2011.

The first images from Tarsem’s greek gods film Immortals have come online along with a series of behind-the-scenes clips. The images are pretty sweet, especially the one of Mickey Rourke as the villainous King Hyperion. For those just tuning in, Immortals is “a mythological tale set in war-torn ancient Greece where the young warrior, Theseus (Henry Cavill), leads his men into battle with the immortal Greek Gods to defeat evil and the powerful elder gods the Titans in order to save mankind.” The film also stars Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire), Kellan Lutz (Twilight), Isabel Lucas (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen), Stephen Dorff, and John Hurt.
There are also six behind-the-scenes featurettes available on iamrogue.com that you can check out.
Hit the jump to see all the images. Immortals is due out in 2011.

The first image of Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond, the villain of Green Lantern, has leaked online. It is a prime example of why studios should try to keep a tight lid on movies like this. When the photo of Abin Sur’s crashed spaceship landed online, it was interesting, but doesn’t ruin anything. This photo from Sky Showbiz [via AICN] of Sarsgaard as Hammond does. Hammond is a weird-looking character in general so to have his first look without proper lighting, and context, (or perhaps even costume—unless Hammond is a mad genius who likes to dress casual). On the plus side, no one will be able to get a shot of Ryan Reynolds in Green Lantern garb since the costume will be almost entirely CGI.
Hit the jump to see the image of Sarsgaard as Hammond plus details on the character for those who are unfamiliar with him. Green Lantern hits theaters June 17, 2011.

The first official image from Anton Corbijn’s The American has debuted on the film’s official Facebook page [via The Playlist]. The film stars George Clooney as an assassin traveling the Italian countryside as he seeks out his final target on what he vows will be his last assignment.
Also, the fine folks over at Just Jared have some set photos from Joe Wright’s upcoming thriller Hanna. The film stars Cate Blanchett as a CIA agent hunting down a young girl named Hanna (Saoirse Ronan) and her ex-CIA agent father (Eric Bana) who trained his little girl to be a killer. I know fathers sometimes have trouble finding common ground with their daughters, but coupled with Kick-Ass, I believe there has to be a better way.
Hit the jump to see the images and the official synopsis for each film. The American hits theaters on September 1st. Hanna hits theaters sometime in 2011.

A set photo from Martin Campbell’s Green Lantern shows an unidentified non-flying object in the middle of a body of water. I think it’s fair to call the object a spaceship seeing as that’s what test pilot Hal Jordan (played by Ryan Reynolds) stumbles upon and leads to him becoming the titular hero. Specifically, Jordan was chosen as the successor to Green Lantern Corps member Abin Sur when Sur’s ship (possibly pictured in the set photo) crash-landed on Earth. Before he died, Sur bestowed his power ring to Jordan, making the young pilot a part of the intergalactic peacekeeping organization, the Green Lantern Corps.
Or it could just be a tricked out Hyundai Sonata. I’m just making educated guesses.
Hit the jump to check out the full photo. The film also stars Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, and Mark Strong. Green Lantern is set to hit theaters on June 17, 2011.
