We have a new trailer today for Sexy Evil Genius, the feature debut from TV series director Shawn Piller (Haven).  Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) stars as Nikki, the ex-girlfriend with severe abandonment issues who invites all of her former lovers out to a bar and lures them into a sadistic game of revenge.  If nothing else, this trailer is worth a watch for Sackhoff’s fantastic evil laugh.

If you’re tired of George Lucas capitalizing on his Star Wars brainchild with countless new projects, you won’t be happy to hear about Star Wars: Detours. On the other hand, if you like new ideas and original programming that exist in the Star Wars universe, the new kid-friendly animated series will be sure to please.  From the creators of Robot Chicken comes Star Wars: Detours, a new comedy series that casts your favorite characters in a storyline that’s less concerned with warring throughout the galaxy and is content to show their day-to-day escapades.  Hit the jump to check out the series trailer and a few clips from Star Wars: Detours, as well as more on how it got started.

The cast and creative team of Fox’s Family Guy were on hand at Comic-Con today to raunch up the jokes and completely ignore the sign that panelists should respect that there are folks under the age of 18 in the audience.  As creator and star Seth MacFarlane quipped, “If you’re under 18 and you’re in this room, it’s already too late for you.”  Joining him were Alex Borstein, Seth Green, Mike Henry, Mila Kunis and executive producer Steve Callahan. Seth Green and his crew behind Robot Chicken have already skewered the Star Wars universe several times over with entire specials dedicated to mocking George Lucas and the classic sci-fi saga. Now the stop-motion animated comedy series has their sights set on DC Comics as Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim will present a Robot Chicken special featuring Seth Green as Batman, Robin and Aquaman, Paul Reubens as The Riddler, Neil Patrick Harris as Two-Face, Alfred Molina as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion as the Green Lantern, Megan Fox as Lois Lane, and Breckin Meyer as Superman. Seth Green lives a life that would make many geeks sell their souls to El Diablo Robotico. He’s been a part of multiple defining franchises ranging from Austin Powers to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He’s gotten George Lucas to laugh at the excesses of Star Wars. And, for the past five years, he’s been getting paid to play with dolls on camera. It’s hard to believe Robot Chicken has been around for that long, but the season five DVD is here. More on the new set after the jump.

Alonso Mayo has started principal photography on his feature directorial debut, The Story of Luke, in Ontario, Canada.  Lou Taylor Pucci stars as Luke, “a young man with autism who, after being sheltered his whole life, embarks on a quest for a job and a girl.”  Tonight it was revealed Seth Green will co-star alongside Cary Elwes, Kristin Bauer, Kenneth Welsh, Tyler Stentiford, and Mackenzie Munro.

Producers Nina Leidersdorff, Julien Favre, and Fred Roos are doing their best to get the word out on the indie coming-of-age comedy.  The official site and Facebook page are packed with material, including production stills, a lengthy synopsis, and even the first ten pages of the screenplay.  Check it out after the jump.

I can’t imagine what an alien visitor, new to our culture, would make of the Robot Chicken Star Wars series. It steeps itself so deeply in Lucas minutia – relying so completely on our innate pop culture knowledge of that galaxy far, far away – that non-fanboys will likely find themselves more baffled than amused. If you understand the phrase “Han Shot First,” however, or know the difference between Tatooine and Dantooine, then the latest Robot Chicken Star Wars special may be the funniest thing you’ve ever seen in your life. Robot Chicken is an ADHD-riddled show with 15 jokes a minute and a sadistic sense of humor, so too was this year’s panel. Never a place to go for actual news on the show, the Robot Chicken crew showed up on stage to show clips, answer fan questions and riff endlessly.

Other than the fact that the Seth Green apparently actually had a meeting with Hasbro about making a real line of My Little Pony Apocalypse action figures (it ain’t happening in this lifetime), there was no real information in this panel. There were, however, plenty of laughs.  Read on for choice quotes.

We’ve got quite a few casting stories for you today. First up, Susan Sarandon has joined the cast of the Adam Sandler/Andy Samberg comedy I Hate You Dad. The comedy revolves around a father who moves in with his son and his son’s fiancé just before they’re about to get married, with Leighton Meester set to play Samberg’s fiancée. THR reports that in addition to Sarandon, Will Forte, Milo Ventimiglia, Eva Amurri (Californication), Blake Clark, Meagan Fay (Party Down), Tony Orlando, Dan Patrick and previously announced James Caan are all in negotiations to join the Sean Anders-directed comedy. Sarandon will play a sexy teacher who is the mother of Samberg’s character.

Additionally, Jennifer Hudson is the latest actor to join the cast of the Farrelly brothers’ The Three Stooges. The film stars Will Sasso as Curly, Sean Hayes as Larry, Chris Diamantopoulos as Moe, Jane Lynch, Larry David, Stephen Collins and Craig Bierko. Deadline reports that Hudson will play Sister Rosmary at the orphanage that the Stooges are raised. Lynch and David play two other (presumably evil) nuns at the orphanage. The Three Stooges is currently filming. Disney has released the first trailer plus new images for their upcoming animated film Mars Needs Moms.  The plot centers on a young boy who goes to rescue his nagging mother after she’s abducted by Martians since, as the you probably gleamed from the title, the red planet requires responsible caretakers for their young.  If you like easy vomit jokes, poop jokes, and characters swimming in the uncanny valley, then this may be the movie for you.

I always enjoy it when our poster articles have something for all tastes, and in this instance, I think we can deem the gamut run.  In one corner we have The Fighter, the adult boxing drama/awards contender which stars Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, and Amy Adams.  In the other waits Mars Needs Moms, the family-friendly sci-fi animated comedy which features the voices of Seth Green, Dan Fogler, Elisabeth Harnois, Mindy Sterling, Kevin Cahoon, and Joan Cusack.  Check out the new posters for both after the jump.

The guys responsible for the Emmy award-winning Robot Chicken are setting their sights on reality television.  Per THR, creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich are preparing to launch an “online reality experiment in which viewers decide every major decision a person makes for six weeks.”  The experiment, known as ControlTV, will begin this fall on the DBG Video Network and will consist of a twenty-something man being told what to do (i.e. what to eat, wear, who to date, etc.) in real-time by online users.

Lucasfilm Animation is developing a Star Wars animated comedy TV series with Robot Chicken creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich.  In his 90-minute review of Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, I think Mike Stolkasa did a good job of explaining that George Lucas isn’t an artist but a businessman and he sees his job as expanding the Star Wars brand as far as it will go.  He’s had a gigantic hit with the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated TV series, so it’s not surprising he would move ahead with a Star Wars television show geared towards making fun of the property.  Outrage among fans about treating the franchise so cheaply has obviously fallen on deaf ears.

You can read a statement from Green after the jump [via The Live Feed], but I think he fails to understand that it’s better when fans lovingly poke fun at the Star Wars universe rather than the behemoth of Lucasfilm trying to lampoon that universe.  Fans already do a good job of creating humor Star Wars so why does Lucasfilm feel the need to do it themselves?  Because there’s always more money the company could make.

That Robin Williams and John Travolta made a terrible comedy together is no surprise, the only notable aspect is that it was made in 2009 and called Old Dogs. Neither is above doing shit, and shit is what they made. But it’s interesting to think of how many times the two could have been paired: It could have been done in the early 80′s as a miss-matched partners comedy. It could have been done any time in the 1990′s post-Pulp Fiction. And had this film come out in the mid-to-late 90′s, it would have been almost the same film too. The two star as ad execs with Williams finding out the woman (Kelly Preston) he married on a lark had twins and is about to go to jail. The kids need looking after and these long time bachelors have to find out if they can be parents. My review of Old Dogs after the jump.

With Robot Chicken being its highest rated show, it should really come as no shock that [adult swim] has ordered more episodes of the hit animated program, but the size of the renewal might surprise you.

[adult swim] has handed the insanely fast and often just as funny stop-motion animation show from creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich an order of 40 more episodes, meaning it will be on the air for at least a fifth and sixth season. Though the show can often make you feel like you have adult ADD much of the time and would probably go down best while stoned (I can’t attest to that, at least lately), it still hits its many targets much more often than it misses.
