Moneyball director Bennett Miller is filling out the rest of his cast for the drama Foxcatcher, and now Sienna Miller has jumped onboard. The film tells the true story of John du Pont, a paranoid schizophrenic who built a wrestling training facility on his 800-acre Pennsylvania estate where he subsequently shot and killed Olympic gold medal-winning wrestler David Schultz in 1996. Heir to his family’s chemical fortune, du Pont locked himself in his mansion for two days after murdering his friend, and spent the time on the phone with negotiators.
Steve Carell is set as du Pont, Mark Ruffalo is portraying Schultz, and Deadline reports that Miller will play Schultz’s wife. Channing Tatum is also set as Schultz’s brother. As a huge fan of Miller’s Capote and Moneyball, I’m really excited by the impressive cast he’s put together for Foxcatcher and look forward to seeing the finished film. Production is set to begin later this year.

A new full trailer for the HBO film The Girl has landed online. The pic examines legendary director Alfred Hitchcock’s (Toby Jones) obsession with his The Birds actress Tippi Hedren (Sienna Miller). We previously were treated to an amusing teaser for the film, but this full trailer is downright creepy in the way Hitchcock’s brooding fixation with Hedren is portrayed. It looks like we’re going to see plenty of scenes that take place on the Birds set, as well as a strong performance from Miller. I can’t yet tell if Jones’ performance as Hitchcock is the appropriate amount of creepy or just plain weird, but I’m eager to catch the full film when it premieres on HBO.
Hit the jump to watch the trailer. The Girl airs on HBO on October 20th.

It’s been a few years since we’ve heard from director Nick Cassavetes (his last effort was 2009′s My Sister’s Keeper) but now we have a first look at his new film, Yellow. Written by Cassavetes and star Heather Wahlquist (Alpha Dog), Yellow centers on Mary Holmes (Wahlquist), a substitute teacher and mother of four with a drug addiction and a complicated past to say the least. This new video for Yellow features Wahlquist’s protagonist and a few trippy transition scenes that only twenty tabs of Vicodin can provide. Also starring Max Thieriot, Sienna Miller, Ray Liotta and David Morse, Yellow will be screening at this weekend’s 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. We’ve got two Alfred Hitchcock feature films headed our way in the near future, but the first one out of the gate will be HBO’s The Girl. A teaser trailer for the pic has been released, and we get our first look at Toby Jones and Sienna Miller in action as Hitchcock and his The Birds actress Tippi Hedren. Directed by Julian Jarrold, the film examines the legendary director’s obsession with Hedren, and we’ll be seeing a rather unflattering side to Hitch’s personality. Though this teaser is short, we get some of that “creepy Hitchcock” flavor, and Jones looks to be giving quite the performance. I’m eager to see what route the full story takes and how much of the on-set antics from The Birds we’ll get to see play out.
Hit the jump to watch the teaser. The Girl premieres on HBO on October 20th.

A couple days ago, a few new images from HBO’s upcoming Alfred Hitchcock-centered pic The Girl landed online. They gave us some new promo-posed looks at Toby Jones and Sienna Miller as Hithcock and Tippi Hedren, but now HBO has provided us with a batch of images from the actual film, giving us some great looks at Miller in a few iconic poses from The Birds. The Girl examines Hitchcock’s obsessive relationship with Hedren, and the film apparently doesn’t shy away from showing a less-than-appealing side of Hitch. Though Jones may end up being overshadowed by Anthony Hopkins’ iteration of the filmmaker in the feature film Hitchcock, I’m eager to catch The Girl when it airs in just a few months.

We’ve got two Alfred Hitchcock-centric pics headed our way in the near future: one with Anthony Hopkins in the Hitchcock role, and another with Toby Jones taking on the persona of the legendary filmmaker. The latter stars in an HBO film called The Girl, which examines Hitchcock’s obsessive relationship with his The Birds star Tippi Hedren. We got our first impressive look at Jones and Sienna Miller in the lead roles a while ago, and now that production has wrapped a couple of new images have surfaced. The two continue to look pretty damn similar to their counterparts, but it’s going to be seriously hard to top Hopkins’ incredible transformation for Hitchcock.

Late last year we learned that Toby Jones had been tapped to play Alfred Hitchcock in a BBC2 film focusing on the director’s “obsessive relationship” with The Birds actress Tippi Hedren, and today the first image of Jones and Sienna Miller as Hedren has gone online. Julian Jarrold (Becoming Jane) is directing The Girl with Hitchcok biographer Donald Spoto onboard to ensure the film’s accuracy. Hedren has also been in contact with Jarrold and the production, though she recently expressed some concern:
“If I have one reservation about the film it is that I worry they will not portray me as as strong a character as I was – and still am. I had to be extremely strong to fight off Mr. Hitchcock.”
Jones and Miller look fairly excellent as Hitchcock and Hedren, and I’m eager to see the two in action. This isn’t the only film about Hitchcock in the works, as Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho is headed towards production with Anthony Hopkins taking on Hitch. Hit the jump to check out the image of Jones and Miller.

We’ve got a couple of casting stories to share with you this afternoon. First up, Sienna Miller and Brendan Fraser are the latest additions to A Case of You. Justin Long co-wrote, will produce and star in the indie set in the world of online dating. Long plays “a young writer who tries to impress a girl he meets online with an embellished profile, but finds himself in a real mess when she falls for him and he has to keep up the act.” Variety’s report doesn’t specify what roles Miller and Fraser will fill, but they join an impressive cast that includes Peter Dinklage, Evan Rachel Wood, Busy Phillips, and Keir O’Connell. Production is currently underway in new York with director Kat Coiro.

Toby Jones should’ve received more praise for his turn as Truman Capote in the film Infamous, but Philip Seymour Hoffman and the superior film Capote just got more traction and attention when awards season came around. However, now Jones will get a chance to shine for BBC2 as the UK network has announced the actor will play iconic filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock in a TV film called The Girl. Rather than being a standard biopic, the film will focus on the director’s “obsessive relationship” with his The Birds star Tippi Hedren, who will be played by Sienna Miller (The Factory Girl). Julian Jarrold (Becoming Jane) will direct the film from writer Gwyneth Hughes which also features the acting talents of Imelda Staunton (Another Year) and Penelope Wilton (Downton Abbey) with Hitchcock biographer Donald Spoto also working on the film for authenticity and accuracy. More after the jump.

A new trailer for Garry Marshall’s star-studded New Year’s Eve has been released. This trailer isn’t much different from the first one in that it’s basically a montage of all the pretty celebrities and their separate stories set to pop music, though this new look does include inappropriate Abigail Breslin flashing. If you enjoyed Marshall’s Valentine’s Day, then you probably don’t need to be sold on the pseudo-sequel, and if the February-centered first film wasn’t your thing then this New Year’s Eve trailer is probably more than a little cringe-worthy. It looks like Seth Meyers may be the only saving grace for the brave boyfriends who are forced to soldier through this one.
The cast includes Robert De Niro, Ashton Kutcher, Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sarah Jessica Parker, Hilary Swank, Zac Efron, Sienna Miller, Lea Michele, Sofia Vergara, Abigail Breslin, Til Schweiger, Seth Meyers, Jon Bon Jovi, Josh Duhamel, and Carla Gugino. New Year’s Eve opens on December 9th. Hit the jump to watch the trailer.

The first trailer for Garry Marshall’s New Year’s Eve has been released. The follow-up to Valentine’s Day stars every actor ever in the history of acting, whom I can only assume will appear for five minutes of screen time each. The trailer is basically a montage of all the actors making their New Year’s preparations and yearning for somebody to love. Nothing groundbreaking, but if you were a fan of Valentine’s Day it’s a safe bet that this movie is probably your kind of thing.

We have a couple quick casting notes to report. First up, Paul Schneider (Lars and the Real Girl) will star in Broken Lizard’s new movie The Baby Maker. While Broken Lizard will star and the troupe’s Jay Chandrasekhar will direct, the script was penned by Ice Age: The Meltdown writers Peter Gaulke and Gerry Swallow. Per Variety, “Story follows a married couple who fail to conceive after months of trying, prompting the husband to enlist his friends’ help to rob a Pasadena sperm bank, where he made a deposit as a young man. All of the Broken Lizard members are expected to co-star, with Kevin Heffernan playing the protag’s crazy best friend, who hooks him up with an Estonian master thief, played by Chandrasekhar. Other Broken Lizard members include Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske.”
Why the sperm bank wouldn’t simply give him back his own seed is beyond me. I’m also surprised that sperm keeps for that long. Logistics aside, Schneider is terrific actor and it will be interesting to see him play against the Broken Lizard gang. Hit the jump for some casting news regarding the adaptation of Elmore Leonard’s Freaky Deaky.
