With Hurricane Sandy bearing down on the East Coast, a perfect storm of indifference hit the domestic box office. Blame it on the weather or on a weak crop of new studio releases, the outcome is the same: a slow weekend that fell behind 2011 by more than 10%. Only Argo found a silver lining in the storm, pulling into first place after two weeks in theatres. As for Cloud Atlas – the most closely watched newcomer of the frame – the forecast is a little, um, cloudy.

Well, today is the day for supernatural sequel clips it seems, because we have two to share with you. First up from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, this new clip features newly-turned vampire, Bella (Kristen Stewart) arm wrestling against Emmett (Kellan Lutz). They amazingly assembled everything about this property that sets my teeth on edge (bad dialogue, terrible make-up, impromptu musical cues, etc) into one concise clip. Directed by Bill Condon, the film also stars Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Mackenzie Foy, Peter Facinelli, Ashley Greene, Elizabeth Reaser and Jackson Rathbone. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 opens November 16th.
We’ve also got a clip from Michael J. Bassett’s Silent Hill: Revelation 3D. This one centers on Heather Mason (Adelaide Clemens) calling her father (Sean Bean) in fear that someone is following her. He gives her some sage fatherly advice and then OH NO LOOK OUT SEAN BEAN! The film opens on October 26th. Hit the jump to watch the clips

Opening this weekend is Silent Hill: Revelation 3D. The film is a sequel to 2006’s Silent Hill, and centers on a daughter and father who are on the run from dangerous forces that remain unknown to the young girl. When her father (Sean Bean) goes missing, the young girl (Adelaide Clemens) must set out to discover what happened. When she becomes trapped in a demonic world, the girl learns she’s not who she thinks she is. Silent Hill: Revelation 3D also stars Kit Harington, Carrie-Anne Moss, Radha Mitchell, and Malcolm McDowell. For more on the film, here’s Matt recap of the NYCC panel, some clips, a TV spot, and the trailer.
Shortly before her panel at Comic-Con, I got to sit down with Adelaide Clemens for an exclusive video interview. We talked about how she got involved in Silent Hill, what it’s like to be at Comic-Con, what she geeks out about, what it was like to work with Malcolm McDowell, and more. In addition, she also talked about working on The Great Gatsby with Baz Luhrmann, Generation Um with Keanu Reeves, and more. Hit the jump to watch.

Shortly before his panel at Comic-Con, I got to sit down with Kit Harington for an exclusive video interview. We talked about how he got involved in Silent Hill, did he play the game, what it’s like to be at Comic-Con, what he collects, starring opposite Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore in The Seventh Son, and more. In addition, for all the Game of Thrones fans, Harington talked about the bigger budget for season three and how the season compares to seasons one and two. Hit the jump to watch.

Halloween is right around the corner and with it comes Michael J. Bassett’s Silent Hill: Revelation 3D. The follow-up to Christophe Gans’ 2006 original adaptation of the horror survival game, Silent Hill: Revelation 3D picks up on the even of protagonist Heather Mason’s (Adelaide Clemens) 18th birthday. This new clip features Clemens and co-star Deborah Kara Unger talking as an air-raid siren signals their approaching doom.
And in case you missed our earlier exclusive clip from director Robert Zemeckis’ Flight, we have a bonus one for you this evening. The clip features post-plane crash pilot, Whip Whitaker (Denzel Washington) in his hospital room being visited by his friend (John Goodman) who must have been pre-Pharmacy in college. For me, there are two seminal video game horror franchises: Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Both came out for the original PlayStation, and they each had a niche. Resident Evil was the haunted house story, and Silent Hill was the psychological horror. When it comes to their film adaptations, Resident Evil has veered wildly away from the original games, and also become a huge franchise. Meanwhile, Silent Hill was adapted in 2006, but it failed to leave an impression. This month, Director Michael J. Bassett (Solomon Kane) will try to bring the franchise back to life with Silent Hill: Revelation 3D. The film had a panel at this year’s New York Comic-Con with Bassett, producer Samuel Hadida (who also produced the first film), and stars Adelaide Clemens and Kit Harington.

This weekend, I will be attending the New York Comic-Con for the first time. I’m not exactly sure what to expect in terms of the convention’s vibe, but there’s definitely some interesting stuff on deck including a first look at the remakes of Carrie and Evil Dead plus new footage from other horror flicks Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, The Bay, and The Conjuring as well as a panel for the supernatural love story, Beautiful Creatures. There will also be panels for geek-favorite TV series The Walking Dead and Robot Chicken. I’ll be reporting from these panels and more, so be sure to stay tuned to Collider this weekend. Steve will also be at NYCC doing 1-on-1 interviews.
Hit the jump for a line-up of panels I’ll be attending at NYCC. The 2012 New York Comic-Con runs from October 11 – 14th at the Javits Center. Click here to visit the official website and check out the schedule.

As far as horror survival game adaptations go, it’s easy to see that Resident Evil has proven more successful than Silent Hill; that won’t stop a sequel to the 2006 horror thriller from coming out later this month. Director Michael J. Bassett’s Silent Hill: Revelation 3D follows nearly-18-year-old Heather Mason (Adelaide Clemens) and her father (Sean Bean) as they attempt to escape the living nightmares that plague them. When her father disappears (and for Bean, disappearing > dead), Heather becomes trapped in a demonic world and learns she’s not who she thinks she is.
Silent Hill: Revelation 3D also stars Carrie-Anne Moss, Radha Mitchell, Malcolm McDowell and Kit Harington, and opens October 26th. Hit the jump to see the posters.

The first theatrical trailer for Silent Hill: Revelation 3D has been released. The film is a sequel to 2006’s Silent Hill, and centers on a daughter and father who are on the run from dangerous forces that remain unknown to the young girl. When her father goes missing, the young girl (Adelaide Clemens) must set out to discover what happened. I’m not familiar with the video game series or the first film, but Game of Thrones fans might get a kick out of seeing Sean Bean and a clean-shaven Kit Harington. The pic also looks to have some interesting creature design, and it’s obvious from the footage that the 3D will be put to heavy use.
Hit the jump to watch the trailer, and if you missed it you can watch the first clip from the film right here. The pic also stars Carrie-Anne Moss, Malcolm McDowell, Radha Mitchell, Deborah Kara Unger, and Martin Donovan. Silent Hill: Revelation 3D opens on October 26th, 2012.

A new clip and image from the upcoming video game adaptation Silent Hill: Revelation 3D have landed online. The pic is a sequel to 2006’s Silent Hill, and stars Adelaide Clemens and Sean Bean as a daughter and father who are on the run from dangerous forces that remain unknown to the young girl. I’m not familiar with the game franchise nor the 2006 film, but this clip features a bunch of creepy nurses threatening to slice-and-dice Clemens and Game of Thrones star Kit Harington. The follow-up is apparently based on the story of the video game Silent Hill 3.
Hit the jump to check out the clip and image. The film also stars Carrie-Anne Moss, Malcolm McDowell, Radha Mitchell, Deborah Kara Unger, and Martin Donovan. Silent Hill: Revelation 3D opens on October 26th, 2012.

San Diego’s Comic-Con has released the schedule of panels and events for Saturday, July 14th. Hall H once again sets the stage for a good amount of first looks at projects like Django Unchained (with Quentin Tarantino and the cast in attendance!) and Pacific Rim, Man of Steel, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and Iron Man 3. While Saturday is the biggest day of the con for the biggest hall, there are plenty of other panels to see elsewhere, including Grimm, True Blood, Metal Hurlant Chronicles and Glee.

Open Road Films announced today that they have acquired distribution rights to the sequel Silent Hill: Revelation 3D and have slated the film for release on October 26th. Adelaide Clemens stars in the film as a young girl who, on the eve of her 18th birthday, is plagued by nightmares and the disappearance of her father. She soon discovers that she’s not who she thinks she is. Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean and Deborah Kara Unger reprise their roles from the first film, and Clemens is joined by series newcomers Kit Harington (Game of Thrones), Carrie-Anne Moss, and Malclom McDowell.
I’m not exactly the biggest fan of the franchise, but I’m assuming those who enjoyed the previous entry will be happy to finally see this sequel after a six-year wait. You can check out some intriguing set photos here and here to appease you until this Halloween. Hit the jump to check out the full press release.

Based on the fan-favorite video game franchise, 2006’s Silent Hill was panned by critics and never made a profit from domestic sales. However, reaching nearly $100 million in sales internationally and making Box Office Mojo’s Top 10 video game adaptations was apparently enough to elicit a sequel. Silent Hill: Revelation 3D creeped us out a couple of months ago with some carnival-themed set pieces.
Today we have some new images from the set, ones that take a closer look at some of our favorite characters and monsters. Sharp-eyed viewers among you might be able to spot Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix) looking creepier than I’ve ever seen her before. Hit the jump to check out the photos.

As a fan of the video games, I’m always interested in seeing how Silent Hill film adaptations turn out. While I thought the visual style that Christophe Gans brought to the 2006 iteration was on par with the creepy atmosphere present throughout most of the games, some new images from the set of writer/director Michael J. Bassett’s Silent Hill: Revelation 3D match said creepiness and multiply it by a factor of a creepy carnival.
Hit the jump to check out the images. Hitting theaters in 2012, Silent Hill: Revelation 3D stars Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Malcolm McDowell.
