Opening this weekend is Silent Hill: Revelation 3D.  The film is a sequel to 2006’s Silent Hill, and centers on a daughter and father who are on the run from dangerous forces that remain unknown to the young girl.  When her father (Sean Bean) goes missing, the young girl (Adelaide Clemens) must set out to discover what happened.  When she becomes trapped in a demonic world, the girl learns she’s not who she thinks she is. For me, there are two seminal video game horror franchises:  Resident Evil and Silent Hill.  Both came out for the original PlayStation, and they each had a niche.  Resident Evil was the haunted house story, and Silent Hill was the psychological horror.  When it comes to their film adaptations, Resident Evil has veered wildly away from the original games, and also become a huge franchise.  Meanwhile, Silent Hill was adapted in 2006, but it failed to leave an impression.  This month, Director Michael J. Bassett (Solomon Kane) will try to bring the franchise back to life with Silent Hill: Revelation 3D.  The film had a panel at this year’s New York Comic-Con with Bassett, producer Samuel Hadida (who also produced the first film), and stars Adelaide Clemens and Kit Harington.

The first theatrical trailer for Silent Hill: Revelation 3D has been released.  The film is a sequel to 2006’s Silent Hill, and centers on a daughter and father who are on the run from dangerous forces that remain unknown to the young girl.  When her father goes missing, the young girl (Adelaide Clemens) must set out to discover what happened.  I’m not familiar with the video game series or the first film, but Game of Thrones fans might get a kick out of seeing Sean Bean and a clean-shaven Kit Harington.  The pic also looks to have some interesting creature design, and it’s obvious from the footage that the 3D will be put to heavy use.

A new clip and image from the upcoming video game adaptation Silent Hill: Revelation 3D have landed online.  The pic is a sequel to 2006’s Silent Hill, and stars Adelaide Clemens and Sean Bean as a daughter and father who are on the run from dangerous forces that remain unknown to the young girl.  I’m not familiar with the game franchise nor the 2006 film, but this clip features a bunch of creepy nurses threatening to slice-and-dice Clemens and Game of Thrones star Kit Harington.  The follow-up is apparently based on the story of the video game Silent Hill 3.

Based on the fan-favorite video game franchise, 2006’s Silent Hill was panned by critics and never made a profit from domestic sales. However, reaching nearly $100 million in sales internationally and making Box Office Mojo’s Top 10 video game adaptations was apparently enough to elicit a sequel. Silent Hill: Revelation 3D creeped us out a couple of months ago with some carnival-themed set pieces.

Today we have some new images from the set, ones that take a closer look at some of our favorite characters and monsters. Sharp-eyed viewers among you might be able to spot Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix) looking creepier than I’ve ever seen her before. Hit the jump to check out the photos.
