You can tell Sylvester Stallone is having a helluva good time with The Expendables franchise, but the writer/director/actor wants to bring a bit more humor into the mix.  Taking to Twitter this evening, Stallone commented on the tone of The Expendables 3which he is currently writing, and hopefully getting Jackie Chan into the cast as was previously rumored.  He also gave a brief update on an action star who would not be making the cut and alluded to an injection of “young blood” into the franchise.  Hit the jump to see what he had to say.

Video of Every Bone Steven Seagal Has Ever Broken

If you’re in a Steven Seagal movie, it would be wise to keep your bones away from Mr. Seagal because he has a tendency to break them.  Every action hero has their signature and Seagal’s is the destruction of his enemies’ bones.  A new mash-up from Oliver Noble has collected every single bone-break from every Seagal movie and it even starts out with a fun quiz: how many bad guy bones has Seagal broken over the course of his film career? There’s no prize for guessing correctly, but if there was, I assume it would be Seagal coming to your house, breaking your arms, and then rummaging through your fridge.

Hit the jump to check out four minutes of Seagal bending folks in ways they shouldn’t be bent.

MACHETE Blu-ray Review

Machete_movie_image slice

The film Grindhouse included a number of fake trailers for (mostly) awesome looking movies. At that time, Robert Rodriguez’s trailer for the then imaginary film “Machete” offered a lot of awesome images of asskickery, but what made it great was that it had Danny Trejo in a leading role. Trejo has been kicking around Hollywood for over twenty five years, starting as an extra and moving up to “that guy” status after turns in films like Desperado and Heat. 2010’s Machete then is Trejo’s first starring role as an ex-federale turned day-laborer hired by Michael Booth (Jeff Fahey) to kill Senator John McLaughlin (Robert De Niro). It turns out the shooting is a double cross, and Machete must then get revenge.

Joined by an all star and random cast of actors that range from Steven Seagal, Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan, the aforementioned De Niro and Fahey, Cheech Martin, Michelle Rodriguez, Don Johnson and Tom Savini, it’s a weird collision of actors all making a film that was born of a fake trailer. The results are mixed, but it’s hard to hate a film like this. My review of Machete on Blu-ray follows after the jump.

MACHETE Review

by     Posted: September 3rd, 2010 at 7:31 am

Robert Rodriguez’ Machete could use some serious cuts.  Despite adopting the tone of a lean, mean exploitation flick, the film feels flabby and is burdened with too many characters and a convoluted plotline that reduces the screen-time of its Mexploitation hero.  It’s particularly frustrating when what works in the movie works so damn well.  The action is exciting and the jokes are hilarious.  But Rodriguez runs up against the same problem he had with Once Upon a Time in Mexico when he reached for an epic and neglected the power of the angry little bloodbath at his disposal.

4 Movie Clips from MACHETE

by     Posted: August 21st, 2010 at 2:58 pm

One of the highlights of 2007′s Grindhouse was the fake trailer for Machete.  Shortly after the film got released, Robert Rodriguez’ started  talking about turning the trailer into a feature film with Danny Trejo reprising the role of Machete - a Mexican ex-Federale with a gift for wielding a blade.  With fandom excited, production moved ahead.

Since filming wrapped over a year ago on the feature, we’ve gotten a few trailers and a lot of images.  But with the film getting released on September 3, we’ve finally been given our first real look at the movie as Fox has provided us with four clips and you can check them out after the jump – along with the synopsis. With a cast that includes Danny Trejo, Steven Seagal, Robert De Niro, Cheech Marin, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan, Don Johnson, and Jeff Fahey, I can’t wait to finally see the finished film next month:

20th Century Fox has unveiled a new red band trailer for Robert Rodriguez’s Machete, and it depicts just as much debauchery as you’ve come to expect the revenge flick.  Danny Trejo stars, with a crazy supporting cast of Steven Seagal, Jeff Fahey, Robert De Niro, Michelle Rodriguez, Cheech Marin, Jessica Alba, and Lindsay Lohan.  You can check out the trailer after the jump, but be warned that it’s immensely NSFW.

SHOWGIRLS and MARKED FOR DEATH Blu-ray Reviews

Showgirls-Maked-For-Death-Blu-ray-slice

Showgirls has attained the cult status that it was always destined for, fifteen years after release. It is rightly infamous. Elizabeth Berkley’s performance as Nomi, the dancer who’s not a stripper, has inspired thousands to re-watch the film over and over, to see her tussle with Gina Gershon and Kyle Maclachlan, to see her push things over and act pouty. It’s a career-defining performance, that’s for sure, as her Nomi Malone comes to understand the machinations of the Las Vegas showgirl life. It was also the beginning of the end for Paul Verhoven, who directed another masterpiece in Hollywood that was misunderstood (Starship Troopers), and then turned to lesser titles before heading back to Europe to write a book and direct Black Book (great film, btw.)

Whereas Steven Seagal has achieved a different sort of cult following for his film Marked for Death. Battling Jamaican drug lords who went after his family, here Seagal teams with Keith David to fight evil. My reviews of both Showgirls and Marked for Death on Blu-ray follow after the jump.

Danny Trejo Talks MACHETE. Could the Sequels be Called MACHETE KILLS and MACHETE KILLS AGAIN?

machete_movie_image_danny_trejo__1_.jpg

The other day I got to talk with Danny Trejo on the set of Predators along with a number of other online journalists.  While we are embargoed from talking about Predators, we’re allowed to cover other projects.

As most of you know, Danny recently shot Machete with director Robert Rodriguez.  The film is based on the trailer that was featured in Grindhouse and it’s loaded with an all star cast like Robert De Niro, Steven Seagal, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan, Don Johnson, and Rose McGowan.

So when we talked to him about Machete, he talked about what it was like to work with such an all star cast and he confirmed the rumors that it might be getting released this April.  Also, when we asked him if Machete was a one off or did he think there could be sequels, Trejo replied, “we want Machete, Machete Kills, and Machete Kills Again.  Every time I text him, he’ll text me back, Machete 2, coming up.”  While those titles might be jokes between Trejo and  Rodriguez, I kind of like them and hope they’re real.

First Look at Tom Savini in MACHETE

Tom Savini MACHETE movie image - slice.jpg

The first images of horror icon Tom Savini in “Machete” have hit the net. If you don’t know who Savini is, click here. His resume is kind of insane. Anyhow, Savini is only one part of the eclectic cast which includes Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba, Steven Seagal, Cheech Marin, Don Johnson, and Jeff Fahey.  You can see the pictures after the jump.

Full Cast for MACHETE Announced

slice_machete_danny_trejo_01.jpg

A few weeks ago we got some speculation on who might be in Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis’ upcoming “Machete”, based on Rodriguez’ fake trailer in “Grindhouse” and starring Danny Trejo (as all movies should).  The previous news got 2-out-of-3 right which isn’t bad.

Hit the jump to find out which ones signed on along with the rest of the cast.

Katherine Heigl Exclusive Video Interview THE UGLY TRUTH – And we talk Steven Seagal!

I always try to ask an unusual question. The reason is the monotony of press junkets. Imagine being asked the same question again and again and again for hours upon hours. After awhile, everyone looks and sounds the same. If you’re not careful, it’s easy to start saying the same thing over and over.

That’s where I come in.

Instead of repeating what has already been asked, if you’ve watched my many interviews on Collider, I always ask something different. With Katherine Heigl, I went back to early in her career….I asked her about Steven Seagal! Of course we also talked about “The Ugly Truth”, her new romantic comedy with Gerard Butler…

DRIVEN TO KILL DVD Review

by     Posted: June 5th, 2009 at 1:18 pm

head.jpgSadly, Steven Seagal is not really driven anywhere in Driven to Kill. The man is getting older, fatter (well, not that much fatter), and I thought this might be a geriatric revenge film on par with Death Wish 3. I wish someone had to drive him someplace so he could go kill someone, but the title is misleading on that front.

Steven Seagal. Direct to video. What do you need to know? You need to know that this is a fairly efficient and brutal action movie that manages to make the most of Seagal. There’s not much else to look for in this movie, though he does have an effective antagonist in Igor Jijikine, who is best known for being eaten by ants in Indiana Jones and the Terrible Movie. Seagal plays a father with mod ties who comes home for his daughter and he upcoming marriage. But his ex-wife (who he’d still fuck) gets murdered and his daughter ends up in a coma. Bad move, bad guys.
