teen-wolf-season-4

MTV has renewed its fan-favorite drama series Teen Wolf for a fourth season, but the network is also ordering an additional companion series to run alongside the werewolf redo.  Wolf Watch will have its series premiere on Monday, January 6th at 11pm ET, directly following the premiere of the second half of Teen Wolf’s current third season.  The talk show is no doubt a reaction to AMC’s success with the Chris Hardwick-hosted Talking Dead and Talking Bad, which delved into the most recent episodes of two of the network’s most popular series.

Teen Wolf cast member Jill Wagner will host Wolf Watch, and the half-hour talk show will cover pertinent topics from the current season while also featuring guest appearances by the show’s stars and behind-the-scenes looks at the series.  Season four of Teen Wolf will debut on MTV next year.  Hit the jump to read the full press release.

One of the movies under most people’s radar is director Wes Ball‘s The Maze Runner.  Based on the James Dashner’s young adult novel of the same name, the story centers on a group of teens who appear in an area known as “The Glade” but have no memory when they wake up.  The only way out appears to be through a shifting maze of massive walls that harbor dangerous creatures known as Grievers.  Only one of the teens, Thomas (Dylan O’Brien), holds the secret to their escape.  With the film hitting theaters February 14, 2014, you can expect a trailer in the coming months, and a lot more info on the film.  Until then…you’ll just have to trust me when I say it’s a film that could be very cool.

While at Comic-Con, I landed an exclusive interview with O’Brien.  He talked about being the lead in a movie for the first time, making Maze Runner, the tough shoot, what will surprise fans of the book, Comic-Con, the success of Teen Wolf, DreamWorks’ Glimmer, and more.  Hit the jump for what he had to say.

Developed by Jeff Davis, the hit MTV drama series Teen Wolf is back for a super-sized, 24-episode third season.  Season 3 finds teen werewolf Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) and his friends Stiles (Dylan O’Brien), Lydia (Holland Roden) and Allison (Crystal Reed) in their junior year of high school, while having to deal with a new threat has arrived in Beacon Hills – a deadly pack of Alpha werewolves intent on bringing Derek (Tyler Hoechlin) into their fold, and who are clearly willing to stop at nothing to meet their goals.

During this exclusive phone interview with Collider, showrunner Jeff Davis talked about how the characters are different this season, who has grown and changed the most, the overall themes of the first half of Season 3, what made this season the right time to delve into Derek’s family history, just what Peter (Ian Bohen) is up to, developing the twin transformation, which actors like to ask the most questions about their character, the challenges of maintaining the show’s quality on their budget, thinking of the 24-episode season as two separate but interconnecting stories, and that they’re already planting seeds for a possible Season 4.  Check out what he had to say after the jump, and be aware that there are some spoilers

With the filming relocated to Los Angeles, Collider was invited to check out the set and chat with the cast for a series of exclusive interviews, and one of the episodes being shot that day (they tend to film more than one, at a time) was Episode 6, which premieres on July 8th.  During this recent exclusive phone interview with Collider, the episode’s writer/director Christian Taylor (the former head writer for Clone Wars) talked about how he came to the show in Season 2, how the super-sized Season 3 is being approached as two sets of 12 episodes, how he came to write and direct this particular episode, that it’s more of a stand-alone episode that feels like a ghost story/horror movie within the show, how difficult it is to kill off characters, the biggest challenges in pulling off this show with the budget they have, and how he’d like to continue his partnership with Jeff Davis.  Check out what he had to say after the jump.

Comic-Con 2013 Schedule for Wednesday’s Preview Night and Thursday, July 18th Includes SHERLOCK, ENDER’S GAME, DIVERGENT, and More

Comic-Con has released their schedule for Wednesday’s preview night and for Thursday, July 18th.  For those who haven’t attended Comic-Con before, “Preview Night” is when the Exhibitor’s Floor is opened, and collectors fight tooth and nail for exclusives.  Studios also screen pilots for TV shows that are set to premiere in the fall.  Then on Thursday, we have one of the strangest Hall H line-ups I’ve ever seen.  It begins with a line-up of animated shorts followed by the sci-fi indie Europa Report, and I have no problem with that, but Hall H is usually reserved for stuff that will pack the house.  Granted, that will come later in the day, especially with what’s sure to be an amazing panel: Entertainment Weekly’s The Visionaries, which will be an hour-long conversation between Edgar Wright, Marc Webb, and Alfonso Cuaron.  As for Ballroom 20, the powerhouse of the day is Sherlock, although I would have switched that with Dexter, which is finishing out the day in Hall H.

Hit the jump to check out everything from Hall H, Ballroom 20, and other highlights from the Comic-Con 2013 schedule for Wednesday, July 17th and Thursday, July 18th.
