A trailer leak isn’t really a good thing, but it seems to have worked out well for Avengers: Age of Ultron and for those eager to see as much footage as possible, too!  Marvel just revealed that within the first 24 hours, that new teaser trailer scored 34.3 million global views, which decimates the previous record of 20 million views set by Iron Man 3.

Because the teaser trailer arrived prior to that planned Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premiere, Marvel has decided to offer up even more brand new Age of Ultron material during the October 28th episode.  And the studio isn’t stopping there.  Marvel will air even more exclusive Age of Ultron footage during Marvel 75 Years: From Pulp to Pop! on November 4th as well.  Hit the jump for all the details.   Avengers: Age of Ultron arrives in theaters on May 1, 2015.

According to Marvel’s VP of Visual Effects and Post-Production, Victoria Alonso, Captain America: The Winter Solider had 2,500 VFX shots and Guardians of the Galaxy came in with 2,750.  You know how many Avengers: Age of Ultron may have?  More than 3,000, making it Marvel’s largest VFX count to date.  In order to make that happen, the studio will likely have to team up with seven to 12 VFX vendors in five to seven different countries.

Hit the jump for more on the Age of Ultron post-production process and Alonso’s thoughts on the new bill to increase tax incentives for filming in California.

Captain America has had a variety of costumes over just three movies, and he’ll be getting another one when it comes to Avengers: Age of Ultron.  Filming is currently underway in Seoul, South Korea, and some unofficial video leaked online showing Cap’s new costume.  It’s not too different from one he wears in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and while there are a few tweaks, there’s nothing drastic.

Hit the jump to check out the set video.  The film also stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, and James SpaderAvengers: Age of Ultron opens in theaters May 1, 2015.

High-Quality AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Set Photos Offer Better Look at Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Ultron

Earlier today, we posted unofficial video and photos from the Avengers: Age of Ultron shoot in Italy.  What they boast in cool, they lack in clarity.  Now we can update the collection with higher quality photos of the same scene to give you a clearer look at Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, James Spader (or his stunt double) in what we presume is Ultron, plus a bonus shot of director Joss Whedon.  This photo leak could pressure Marvel to release official images soon, especially in the case of Ultron, who likely has some CG in his character design.

Hit the jump to check out the images.  Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Bettany, and Mark Ruffalo also star.  Avengers: Age of Ultron opens May 1, 2015.

New AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Set Videos from Italy Provide First Look at Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Ultron [Updated]

Avengers: Age of Ultron is currently filming out in the open in Italy, and so unofficial videos and images are leaking out.  In addition to providing a look at Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), the scene shows people fleeing in terror, which includes explosions and the requisite appearances of “Man with Briefcase” and “Woman Holding Baby”.  There’s also a metal humanoid, who is presumably the villain Ultron (James Spader) since you can see in one of the set photos they’re trying to cover him up with a black cloak in order to hide him until they’re ready for a proper unveiling.  Since these photos have leaked, that attempt isn’t going so well.  I’m also a little surprised there’s a practical Ultron on set since I assumed the entire character would be done entirely with motion capture and CGI.  [Update: Check out higher quality photos here.]

Hit the jump to check out the images and video.  The film also stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Bettany, and Mark RuffaloAvengers: Age of Ultron opens May 1, 2015.

If you’re even the most casual of Marvel fans, I’m assuming you checked out ABC’s one-hour special, Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe, or will when it airs in your neck of the woods.  While the bulk of that hour looked back on Marvel’s cinematic universe, we did get snippets of the upcoming films Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, and, of course, Avengers: Age of Ultron.  Since filming just started on the latter picture, we got a cool look at some concept art from the film instead.  The early looks feature artist’s interpretations of Quicksilver, the Scarlet Witch, the Hulk, Black Widow, and a very special version of Iron Man. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. won’t be airing tomorrow, but a one-hour special that offers up a sneak peek at Joss Whedon’s Avengers: Age of Ultron will play instead.  Kevin Feige recently commented on both the superhero sequel’s title villain, and what fans can expect to see in tomorrow’s special.  We’ve also got a clip from the promotional spot that highlights Marvel Studio’s 2008 films The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man, two big gambles that have paid off quite well in recent years.

Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe will premiere Tuesday, March 18th at 8:00pm on ABC.  Hit the jump for Feige’s comments and a peek at the special.

A few weeks ago, we reported that Avengers: Age of Ultron (no time for the definite article) would be shooting “key elements” in South Korea.  According to THR, “parts of the film will be shot from March 20 to April 12 near the numerous bridges on the Han River that cuts through the heart of Seoul, including the landmark Jamsil and Mapo Bridges”.  Specifically, shooting will take place in the upscale locations of Cheongdam Bridge, Teheran Boulevard, and Gangnam Station as well as Sangam DMC and Yongsan, the latter of which is home to one of the U.S. military’s bases.  Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans will be shooting on location, but we don’t know if any other cast members will be joining them.  Shooting has already wrapped in Johannesburg, and has now moved on to principal photography at Shepperton Studios in the U.K.

The film also stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, and James SpaderAvengers: Age of Ultron opens in theaters May 1, 2015.

Kevin Feige Says the AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Script Hasn’t Changed “At All” Due to Scarlett Johansson’s Pregnancy

by     Posted 226 days ago

kevin-feige-avengers-age-of-ultron

With principal photography on the Marvel sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron set to get underway in just a few weeks, the recent news that actress Scarlett Johansson is pregnant had some wondering whether it would impact the production.  Last week, we heard that Marvel planned on “fast-tracking” Johansson’s scenes as Black Widow, which would ensure that the actress could complete her portion of filming in a timely manner.

When Steve was speaking with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently in anticipation of the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier (which also stars Johansson), the executive spoke about moving forward with Age of Ultron in the wake of this news.  Feige said that while they have done a bit of rearranging with the shooting schedule, the script hasn’t changed one bit.  Hit the jump for more.

Chris Evans Talks His Reaction to Reading Joss Whedon’s AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Script

When Marvel was preparing to release of The Avengers in 2012, it was the culmination of a hefty gamble on the studio’s part and not everyone was convinced it would work.  The studio wanted to see if audiences would respond to a series of films set up like comic books, in which certain heroes would get standalone features and then all appear together in one massive team-up film, with everything taking place in the same universe.  The gamble did indeed pay off and audiences responded overwhelmingly to The Avengers, as the result was the smashing of the opening weekend box office record and an overall worldwide gross of $1.5 billion; the Joss Whedon-helmed film now sits at number three on the all-time box office chart.

Marvel is deep into its Phase Two series of films now, and 2014 will kick off with the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier on April 4th.  While recently speaking with Chris Evans in anticipation of the film’s release, Steve also briefly discussed the highly anticipated sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron with the Captain America actor, and he revealed his reaction to reading Whedon’s script for the follow-up.  Hit the jump for more.

Scarlett-Johansson-Avengers-2-Age-of-Ultron-interview

With Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Solider set to invade theaters on April 4th, earlier today Disney started doing press on the film here in Los Angeles.  While reviews are embargoed for another week or so, Disney allowed us to tweet after last night’s screening and as I said on twitter, the movie is phenomenal.   Loaded with incredible action, a great script, and fantastic character moments, The Winter Solider is easily one of the best Marvel movies and it’s going to make fans and casual moviegoers very happy.

While everyone is excited for The Winter Solider, all Marvel fans have another date circled on their calendar: May 1, 2015.  At the beginning of next summer, The Avengers return under the direction of Joss Whedon with Avengers: Age of Ultron.  While the story is under wraps, when I talked to Scarlett Johansson today for Captain America: The Winter Solider, I asked her about her thoughts on the the script.  She said the sequel makes the Marvel Universe feel “very close-knit, cerebral, and progressive” and added that it “feels like the continuation of The Avengers.”  Hit the jump to watch what she had to say.
