The success of The Avengers feature is set to continue in its transition onto the small screen if ABC Entertainment President Paul Lee can be believed.  At the ongoing Television Critics Association event, Lee spoke about the upcoming S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot at length and seemed confident that the TV series would be taken to order.  Screenwriter Joss Whedon has reportedly gone beyond writing just the pilot and ABC is coordinating his schedule around the upcoming Marvel movies even though no official series order has come in just yet.  You’ll find lots more on the S.H.I.E.L.D. series after the jump.

While Disney and Marvel’s The Avengers has owned movie screens this year, ABC is looking to bring the peacekeepers of S.H.I.E.L.D. to the small screen.  The network (owned by Disney) has greenlit a live-action pilot to showcase the Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate (or is it the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division?).  And who better to co-write and possibly direct the pilot than the man behind The Avengers, Joss Whedon himself.  Whedon will of course be spearheading The Avengers 2, as well as being involved with other features in the Marvel universe.  Hit the jump for much more on the first live-action Marvel TV project to be greenlit.
