Relativity Media has released the trailer and poster for Limitless (previously titled “The Dark Fields“).  The film centers on a struggling writer (Bradley Cooper) who takes a special drug that allows him to utilize his entire mental capacity.  Setting aside the fact that your brain doesn’t work on capacity but instead handles various functions, the film looks like it could be an interesting thriller…or a complete garbage.  While I liked Cooper back when he was on Alias, I don’t know if he can carry film.  Also, I’m not crazy about rooting for a protagonist whose “perfect” life is simply being disgustingly rich.  Hopefully director Neil Burger (The Illusionist) can pull it all together, although this is his first feature where he didn’t also write the screenplay. The script was penned by Leslie Dixon (Pay It Forward) based on the book by Alan Glynn.

Jonathan Demme is reportedly considering directing the Paul Haggis-scripted Honeymoon With Harry, giving the project a good shot at finally getting made after spending six years stalled.  According to Deadline, Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro read the lead roles at a New Line read-through several weeks ago.  The film is described as a “James Brooks style” story of two characters who hate each other and are stuck together out of desperation, and it’s based on an unpublished novel by Bart Baker that Paul Haggis adapted and was previously attached to direct with Vice Vaughn and Jack Nicholson potentially starring.  De Niro and Cooper are reportedly already attached, though no deals have been made.  Hit the jump for a more detailed synopsis.

Universal has announced new release dates for its upcoming films.  The biggest change is moving the Matt Damon/Emily Blunt sci-fi-thriller The Adjustment Bureau from September 17th all the way back to March 4, 2011.  Bureau will now be squaring off against Gore Verbinski’s animated comedy Rango.

Taking Adjustment Bureau‘s September 17th release date will be the M. Night Shyamalan-produced Devil.  The horror-thriller will be going up against the animated family film Alpha and Omega, the romantic comedy Easy A starring Emma Stone, and Ben Affleck’s crime-drama The Town, which is his directorial follow-up to the fantastic Gone Baby Gone.

Robert De Niro has signed on to join the cast of the upcoming suspense-thriller The Dark Fields.  Bradley Cooper (The Hangover) has already been cast as the lead, as was previously reported here.  The film will be directed by Neil Burger (The Illusionist) and produced by Scott Kroopf, Leslie Dixon and Ryan Kavanaugh.  Dixon (The Heartbreak Kid) also wrote the screenplay.

The film is about ‘a down-and-out Gotham writer (Cooper) who comes into possession of a designer drug that gives him newfound intelligence and success‘.  According to Variety, De Niro will be playing the role of the brilliant financial mogul that’s chasing after Bradley Cooper’s character.   The film will begin shooting in May in Philadelphia.
