A rough trailer for Frozen Ground has leaked online.  The crime thriller stars Nicolas Cage as an Alaskan detective who sets out to end the murderous rampage of Robert Hansen (John Cusack), a serial killer who has gone unnoticed for 13 years after one of his victims (Vanessa Hudgens) escapes.  It looks like another low-budget Cage thriller, and in this one he’ll get to have a glower-off with Cusack while Hudgens tries to make everyone forget that she was in the High School Musical movies.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film also stars Dean Norris and 50 Cent.   Frozen Ground is currently set to hit theaters on November 30th.

Opening this weekend is director James McTeigue‘s (V for Vendetta, Ninja Assassin) The Raven.  If you’re not familiar with the film, the story takes place in 1840s Baltimore where a series of grisly murders appear to have been inspired by the works of Edgar Allan Poe (played by John Cusack).  Poe and a detective (Luke Evans) must team up to find the killer before he takes out the woman Poe loves (Alice Eve).  The film also stars Oliver Jackson-Cohen, and Brendan Gleeson.   For more on the film, here’s the trailer and 40 images.

Last week I got to sit down with John Cusack for an extended video interview.  We talked about how The Raven came together, his research, Twitter (you can follow him here), which of his previous films people always want to talk about, if we’ll ever get a sequel to Hot Tub Time Machine, his upcoming projects like The Paperboy, The Frozen Ground, filming the experimental No Somos Animales in Argentina, and a lot more.  Hit the jump to watch.

We’ve got a couple of casting stories for you this morning. First up, Kelly Reilly (Sherlock Holmes) is in negotiations for the lead female role in Robert Zemeckis’ Flight.  The Polar Express director’s return to live-action following his ten-year stretch of motion-capture movies stars Denzel Washington as an airline pilot who is heralded as a hero after he flies a damaged plane to safety. Washington’s heroic achievement becomes overshadowed by an investigation into whether or not he had been drinking before the flight.

Deadline reports that Reilly was one of three actresses that were shortlisted for the role of Nicole, a drug addict who befriends Washington’s character as each tries to get their demons under control. Olivia Wilde and Dominique McElligott (Moon) were the other two actresses in the running, but Reilly ultimately came away with the part. Flight starts shooting this October. Hit the jump for the casting news of Vanessa Hudgens in the serial killer drama Frozen Ground.

Nicolas Cage and John Cusack in Talks to Star in Serial Killer Drama THE FROZEN GROUND

Any day that involves a Con Air reunion is a good day. Nicolas Cage and John Cusack, who were the stars of the 1997 action film centering on a prison-hijacked plane (genius!), are in negotiations to reteam on The Frozen Ground. The film is based on the true story of an Alaskan family man who, for 12 years, abducted over 24 women and flew them to the wilderness where he hunted them for sport. Detective Glenn Flothe teamed up with the serial killer’s only escaped victim to eventually bring him to justice.

If you thought you knew who would play what role, you’re probably wrong. Deadline reports that Cage is eyeing the part of Detective Flothe while Cusack would play Robert Hansen, the serial killer. Scott Walker wrote and will make his directorial debut on the project. If both actors sign on, this’ll make for one hell of a creepy project.
