Conan O’Brien is passing time until the November 8 premiere of his new TBS show with the 30-city Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour, but you won’t have to wait until then to see his influence on the cable network. Andy Richter, live show opener Reggie Watts, and a bevy of Conan writers will tape a special tentatively titled Team Coco Presents Conan’s Writers Live in Chicago on June 17th, which TBS will air a week and a half later on June 27th. I believe that Conan’s legal obligations will preclude an appearance, but a night of comedy from the men who help make him funny is a delightful consolation process. For you Chicagoans, tickets for the Bank of America Theater event go on sale Friday May 28th at 10:00 AM.

The big news to come out of the Turner networks upfront presentation today is the announcement that Conan O’Brien’s new late night TBS show will premiere at 11:00 PM on November 8. O’Brien’s debut on TBS will end a nine-month hiatus from television, punctuated by a 30-city live tour, the creation of a Twitter account, and a somber appearance on 60 Minutes.
The upfront also gave TNT and TBS a chance to brag about their new series, like the 1980s-set comedy Glory Daze and the buddy lawyer series Franklin & Bash. Hit the jump for the full press release.

Conan O’Brien, recently out of work since NBC decided they didn’t need a funny Tonight Show host anymore, is about to start his 30-city live comedy/music tour entitled The Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour. Deadline is reporting that Rodman Flender (Idle Hands) may be coming on board to document the tour for a feature film. It’s an event that many fans of Team Coco will be looking for on stage and eventually in the theatre.
The tour and film are legally allowed under the severance package that Conan took after leaving NBC. This is his plan to keep his staff from the Tonight Show working and busy. I am totally into seeing Conan perform live comedy again and admire the guy even more because of some of the reasoning behind it all.

As we reported last month, Conan O’Brien will be exercising a loophole in his contract with NBC that prohibited him from being on television until September. Instead of being hilarious on TV, he’s going to be hilarious on stage with The Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour. O’Brien has announced the 30 cities that will enjoy an evening of his company (he’ll also be visiting two Canadian provinces). The tour will launch not in New York or LA but in Eugene, Oregon because O’Brien is random and awesome. Oh, and he’ll also be joined by Andy Richter and the Tonight Show Band. Sadly, I don’t think the stage is conducive to Max Weinberg’s deadpan facial expression.
I imagine these tickets will sell out fast so click here and get yours now. As for me, I’m running over to the Fox Theater and getting mine because fuck Ticketmaster.
