If you’re one of those people who loved all of The Matrix movies (okay, or at least a couple of them), and especially Agent Smith, have we got some good news for you. Fans will be happy to hear that Australian actor Hugo Weaving has reprised his role of the mysterious agent.

Well, sort of.

Okay, so it’s not a new Matrix movie, but fans can still get to see Agent Smith again. Weaving is appearing in a new GE commercial for software and other medical equipment that is designed to make patient care better in hospitals.  Hit the jump to check out the commercial.

There’s zero empirical evidence to back up the theory, but here at Limited Paper we tend to think that there aren’t a lot of hard-core collectors out there with big Valentine’s Day plans.  Quite frankly, when the vast majority of your spending money is being pushed towards one fancifully-colored 24x36” sheet of paper after another, there isn’t much budget left for schmoozing the ladies (or the gents, if that’s your thing).  Sure, you could’ve bought her that diamond-encrusted toaster she’s always wanted, but there’s something like 400 prints dropping this week:  one has to prioritize.

Every year, The National Film Preservation Board selects 25 films to be added to the National Film Registry.  These movies will be housed in the Library of Congress, and will be carefully preserved as part of American history.  This year, the Board’s selections included Dirty Harry, The Matrix, Two-Lane Blacktop, Slacker, The Spook Who Sat By the Door, A Christmas Story, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and A League of Their Own.  Personally, I’m surprised The Big Lebowski and Die Hard still haven’t made it in, especially when a movie like A League of Their Own can make it in.  I love A League of Their Own, but it hasn’t had anywhere near the cultural impact as Lebowski or Die Hard.

Sure, the whole Google Maps 8-bit for NES thing might haven been an April Fool’s gag, but there’s something wonderfully timeless about the 8-bit era, when there was a limited color palette and characters moved around realms without bending their knees.  Not only is it still quite fun to pop in a Nintendo cartridge (in my case, with a Game Genie still attached), but 8-bit gaming has evolved into an art form and artist Eric Palmer is embracing it, using the 8-bit style to put a new spin on some iconic films.  Some examples are Jurassic Park, 300, Harry Potter, Office Space, Star Wars and The Matrix. While there is a decent chance you’ll one day be able to file this under “Internet movie rumors that never amounted to anything,” we’d be remiss not to at least pass this along.  A report has filed in from a “Q & A” at the London International School of Performing Arts which claims that star Keanu Reeves spoke at moderate length about returning to The Matrix for two more sequels.  Per the account, Reeves claims to have had lunch with The Wachowski Brothers over Christmas during which they briefed him on a two-film treatment they had finished for the Matrix franchise.

Obviously, keep in mind that the purported eye-witness account of the “Q & A” is, as of yet, unconfirmed.  Nevertheless, if you’d like to here more about what Reeves purportedly had to say about reprising his role as Neo, hit the jump. [Update: It looks as if the lead in the write-up has been proven true as sources from both the Reeves camp and the London International School of Performing Arts claim the "Q & A" never even happened.]

As you know by now, I regularly record video blogs with Peter from Slashfilm. This past weekend, we found ourselves at the New Orleans airport hours before our flight home, and decided it would be a perfect time to record a video blog.

However, we didn’t have a topic in mind, so we reached out to our twitter followers and asked for some ideas. After just a few submissions, Peter and I realized we would love to talk about a variety of these submitted topics, and changed the idea to a reader q & a. We told everyone that we’d answer every question submitted, however we were only able to cram 25 or 30 questions in before we had to board the plane. We even answered questions about Prop 8 and eating competitions. That’s enough, right?

Sadly, that video blog will never ever be seen by the public as Peter recorded it on his new iPhone 4 and somehow it failed to record the audio. As you might expect, it was very frustrating. But we moved on. So during our layover in Denver we decided to rerecord the Q&A using some of the same questions and we also mixed in a few new ones. When movies are being put together, often the first actor the studio or director offers the part to doesn’t want to star in the movie.  Sometimes it’s a good thing, but often we’re left wondering what would the film have been like if that person had agreed to be in it.

While we might not have any video evidence, you can see some re-imagined movie posters for these films after the jump.  Included are The Matrix, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Fabulous Baker Boys, Footloose, JFK, Lord of the Rings, and a few others.

Agent Smith in The Matrix.  Elrond in Lord of the Rings.  V in V for Vendetta.  And the voice of Megatron in the Transformers movies.

To say I’m a huge fan of Hugo Weaving would be a gigantic understatement.  Since I first saw The Matrix and heard him say “Mr. Anderson”, I’ve thought Hugo Weaving needs to be in more movies.  Thankfully, directors like Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings) and Joe Johnston (The Wolfman) noticed his work and since The Matrix, Weaving has made both small indies and big budget blockbusters.

And speaking of big budget blockbusters, with Universal’s The Wolfman in theaters this weekend, I was able to speak with this great actor as a reporter for our partners at Omelete.  Weaving plays a Scotland Yard inspector investigating the murders.

While you never know how an interview will turn out, I’m extremely happy to say this was a great one.  Not only did we talk about Wolfman, he gave me some very interesting info on why The Hobbit should be a lot different than Lord of the Rings.  If you’re a fan of this great actor, it’s an interview not to be missed:

The up and coming rereleases of “Toy Story” 1 and 2 in the 3-D format have the industry abuzz in regards to the potential of hitting up popular library titles of the different studios to also give the 3-D treatment.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lightstorm Entertainment is claiming that a 3-D release of the world’s most successful box-office film “Titanic” is itself less than a year away.  With that in mind, the eventual consideration of your favorite mega-action blockbusters to get revisited seems more of a forecast now than just wishful thinking.  Click the jump to daydream about Rivendell, the Death Star, and/or Keanu Reeves in the third dimension.

Keanu Reeves is known for many things.  He’s so zen that many consider his brain is on stand-by.  He will always be known for fantastic action movies like “Point Blank”, “Speed”, and “The Matrix”.  I also know him because I come to his defense every time someone says he can’t act and then I have to tell them to watch “The Gift” even though I don’t think it’s a very good film but I think Reeves is one of the few positive contributions.

But I wouldn’t say Keanu is known for comedy.  Oh, he’s had some hilarious films but I’m pretty sure movies like “Johnny Mnemonic”, “The Watcher”, and “Chain Reaction”, weren’t intentionally comedic.  Now it looks like Keanu is going to try and make us laugh with “Henry’s Crime”.  Find out if you can enjoy Keanu without irony after the jump.
