Here’s what I can tell you about Twilight Forever: The Complete Saga: no box-set will ever recreate the excitement you had while seeing these movies for the first time among hundreds of your peers.  Having seen every one of them at a midnight showing, I can attest that there is very little a Blu-ray can do to recreate the experience.  Twilight Forever sure tries, however, adding in fan-friendly bonus features and packaging it all up in a photo album flipbook that holds each movie and bonus feature disc in a different cast vignette.  If you’re into Twilight, there’s a good chance you already own all of these movies – but let’s be honest, you’re probably going to want this box-set anyway.  Hit the jump to read my full review of Twilight Forever: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray, the newest addition to your Twilight collection.

Director Bill Condon Reveals He Created a Supercut of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – Parts 1 and 2

by     Posted 1 year, 103 days ago

Although he was in attendance at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival to talk about his great new film The Fifth Estate, when I spoke to director Bill Condon at the press junket, I landed an interesting bit of news about his last two films, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Parts 1 and 2.  Even though there’s a huge box-set for the complete series coming out this fall, Condon revealed the existence of his own personal cut of the last two films that merge them into one, epic supercut.  He says this was to combine both parts into one movie to be more like reading the final Twilight novel in a single issue, and for fans who might be interested in seeing it.  Unfortunately, there’s no word on just when this supercut will see the light.  Hit the jump for more.

Watch the Awkward “Morning After” Deleted Scene from THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 1 Extended Edition Blu-ray

by     Posted 1 year, 345 days ago

Before we get to the home video release of the final installment in the Twilight franchise, Breaking Dawn – Part 2, Lionsgate is readying the release of an extended edition of Part 1 on Blu-ray.  We recently learned that the extended edition includes 8 minutes of deleted and extended scenes put back into the film, and today one such scene has been released online: the “morning after” sequence.  As you may or may not be aware, the entire plot of Breaking Dawn – Part 1 consists of Kristen Stewart’s Bella and Robert Pattinson’s Edward getting married, bumping uglies, and having a baby.  This new scene, which I can only assume was deleted because of its alarming awkwardness-factor, features the two characters conversing over breakfast the morning after Edward deflowered Bella, breaking the bead in half in the process.

If you’re a Twilight fan, you might want to circle March 2nd on your calendars.  That’s because Summit is releasing an extended cut of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 on home video that weekend which includes eight minutes of new and extended scenes added back in by director Bill Condon.   He said in the press release:

“As Twilight series devotees know, there was a lot of ground to cover in adapting Breaking Dawn to the screen.  Between the wedding, the honeymoon, the birth, and everything in between, naturally there were things that didn’t make it into our final cut.  But I wanted to make sure that for all the Twihards out there, there was a chance to see some of these cut scenes – several of which are fan favorites from the book.”

Weekend Box Office: THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PART 2, SKYFALL and LINCOLN Claim Top Three for Third Week in a Row

by     Posted 2 years, 18 days ago

Box office rankings were frozen in time this weekend as the top three films remained unchanged for a third straight frame. Once again, top honors went to The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2, closely followed by Skyfall.  Spielberg’s Lincoln claimed third. There were also two new releases, though neither hailed from a major studio. The Weinstein Co.’s Killing Them Softly had the most promise, but not even Brad Pitt’s presence could push the drama to $10 million on this notoriously low-grossing weekend.

2.  Skyfall $17,000,000 $246

After a slow start on Wednesday and Thursday, the domestic box office roared to life on Black Friday and ended with the highest five-day Thanksgiving frame of all time. Holdovers were the main course, with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2, Skyfall and Lincoln claiming the top three spots. But audiences also made room for new arrivals, including Ang Lee’s Life of Pi, the long-delayed Red Dawn remake and the CGI-animated Rise of the Guardians.

Weekend Box Office: $141.3 Million Debut for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PART 2 Falls Just Short of Franchise Record

by     Posted 2 years, 32 days ago

No records were broken but The Twilight Saga went out the way it came in: huge. From 4,070 locations, Breaking Dawn Part 2 took in an estimated $141.3 million – topping the $138.1 million of last year’s Breaking Dawn Part 1 but falling slightly under the series’ record of $142.8 million set by New Moon. Worldwide, Twilight’s swan song has brought in over $340 million since its release which makes you wonder – how long before Summit can get a prequel in the works?

Title Weekend Total
1.  Breaking Dawn Part 2 $141,300,000 $141.3
2.  Skyfall $41,500,000 $161.3

Friday Box Office: THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PART 2 Misses Franchise Opening Record with $71.2 Million on First Day

by     Posted 2 years, 33 days ago

Estimates are in for the opening day of Breaking Dawn Part 2 and, as expected, it’s a monster. Summit Entertainment is reporting that, from 4,070 locations, the final chapter in The Twilight Saga took in a reported $71.2 million. As big as that is (and it is the sixth highest first day of all time), it is not a record for the franchise. It is slightly under the starts of both 2009’s New Moon ($72.7 million) and last year’s Breaking Dawn Part 1 ($71.6 million). To make things more complicated, the Friday estimate for Breaking Dawn Part 2 includes the film’s Thursday 10 pm previews, which adds a little asterisk to the stats. Yesterday, we told you that Part 2 took in $30.4 million from its 10 pm and midnight shows combined; and because no one knows exactly how much those Thursday screenings produced, it remains difficult to rank the last Twilight against its predecessors – none of which debuted before midnight. Putting Thursday aside, no should be confused about how big the last Twilight will be. Though weekend projections have been scaled back – from over $150 million yesterday to less-than Breaking Dawn Part 1’s $138.1 million today – either way, Twilight 5 will wind up with one of the highest openings of 2012. Add in the $38.8 million the film has already earned overseas and Breaking Dawn Part 2 will close the Twilight Saga out in style. We’ll have full box office coverage on Sunday, including details on Lincoln.

Title Friday Total
1. Breaking Dawn Part 2 $71,200,000 $71.2
2. Skyfall $12,350,000 $132.1
3. Lincoln $6,366,00 $7.7
4. Wreck-It Ralph $4,424,000 $107.5
5. Flight $2,500,000 $55.2

THE TWILIGHT SAGA Marathon Coming to Theaters on November 15

by     Posted 2 years, 101 days ago

The Twilight franchise comes to an end this November with the release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, but the series is planning on going out with a bang.  Summit announced today that “The Twilight Saga Marathon” will invade theaters across the country on November 15th, a day before the wide release of Breaking Dawn – Part 2.  Fans will be treated to all four previous Twilight films on the big screen, followed by the premiere of Breaking Dawn – Part 2 at 10pm local time; a full two hours before the midnight screenings begin.

Marathon-goers will be privy to exclusive content that will play between the films as well as a collectible event lanyard to keep their tickets close.  Though the Twilight series gets derided plenty, Summit certainly knows how to treat the franchise’s legion of fans.  More detailed information will be released soon, but in the meantime check out trailers for all the previous films followed by the full press release after the jump.  The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 opens everywhere on November 16th.

Since the MTV Movie Awards air in the middle of the summer, they’re allowed to pull from successful spring pictures.  This year, they’ve done exactly that and awarded The Hunger Games with eight nominations.  However, MTV didn’t forget the movies of last summer, and also gave eight nods to Bridesmaids.  As for the other nominees, the Twilight series has always dominated the MTV Movie Awards in the past, but The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 only pulled in two nominations this year.  It may be a case of out-with-the-old, in-with-the-new, but it’s worth noting that this was the first year where nominees were chosen by a panel of industry insiders instead of online voting.  I don’t know why MTV made that change (it’s not like anyone can make the awards more respectable), but fans will still get to choose the winners.  While the MTV Movie Awards are really more of a platform for funny sketches and showing clips from upcoming movies, an awards ceremony that allows you to give Drive an award for “A Real Hero” can’t be all bad.

Hit the jump to check out the nominees.  The 2012 MTV Movie Awards air live on June 3rd at 9/8c.

While we have a lot of great writers on Collider, I’ve decided to locate a Twilight super fan to review our copy of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 on Blu-ray.  I’m not looking for someone who thinks it’s the greatest movie ever made, and I’m not looking for someone who hates it either. I’m trying to find someone who loves the books and the films and can do an objective review while also writing about all the special features, commentaries, and the extra things on the Blu-ray.  If you think you’ve got what it takes, hit the jump:
