PSA Sunday: Thundercats Against Underage Drinking; Plus Outtakes

by     Posted 2 years, 337 days ago

As a child of the 80s and 90s, I received a good portion of life advice from television shows like Family Matters, Step by Step and The Cosby Show. When flesh and blood actors weren’t available to act as surrogate parents, I relied on the animated advisors on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Transformers to make sure I walked a righteous path. So when Lion-O, Lord of the Thundercats whipped out the Sword of Omens and told me to “Obey the code” against underage drinking, who was I to argue? Boy, am I glad they produced this PSA. By the age of 5, I was already up to a case of Natty a day and had developed a taste for illegal moonshine. There’s no telling what type of raging childhood alcoholic I would have become if it weren’t for the Thundercats. Hit the jump to check out the PSA along with a bonus blooper track.

Programming for Wondercon 2011 Announced: GREEN LANTERN, COWBOYS & ALIENS, IMMORTALS, and More

by     Posted 3 years, 272 days ago

Programming for this year’s WonderCon has been announced.  This will be my first year attending WonderCon and Steve has informed me that it’s like Comic-Con except you can breathe.  While WonderCon may be the less-famous sibling to Comic-Con, it still has some big-name panels for fans.  This year, WonderCon is giving over the Esplanade Ballroom to some of the year’s biggest genre properties.  Leading the list of films is Warner Bros’ Green Lantern as well as Cowboys & Aliens, Super, The Three Musketeers, Hanna, Priest, and Immortals.  TV is also getting some attention with panels devoted to the new series Falling Skies, ThunderCats, and Terra Nova as well as Nikita, Doctor Who, Human Target, and V.  There will also be plenty of artists, writers, and other creative folks.

Hit the jump for the full schedule.  Wondercon 2011 runs from April 1 – 3rd at the Moscone Center South in San Francisco.

Kevin Michael Richardson Discusses THUNDERCATS; Says Will Friedle Is Lion-O (UPDATED) Emmanuelle Chriqui is Voicing Cheetara

by     Posted 3 years, 285 days ago

A few weeks ago we brought you footage from the first trailer for Cartoon Network’s rebooted Thundercats animated series. Today, we have what seems to be casting confirmation from the new voice of Panthro, Kevin Michael Richardson (The Cleveland Show). While discussing the upcoming series, Richardson claims that the voice of Lion-O is being provided by Will Friedle. Probably best known (by me at least) for his turn as Eric Matthews in ABC’s long-running sitcom Boy Meets World, Friedle also has an extensive amount of voice acting credits under his belt with series’ such as Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Batman Beyond, and Kim Possible.

In addition to Richardson and Friedle, Emmanuelle Chriqui also revealed that she is lending her pipes to an unidentified character for the new-look Thundercats via her recent interview with us. For more on what Richardson had to say about the series, hit the jump to check out his video interview.

UPDATE: We’ve confirmed with the studio that Emmanuelle Chriqu is the voice of Cheetara.

Emmanuelle Chriqui Exclusive Interview ELEKTRA LUXX; Updates on ENTOURAGE, THE BORGIAS, THUNDERCATS and TRON: UPRISING

by     Posted 3 years, 285 days ago

In Elektra Luxx, the follow-up to writer/director Sebastian Gutierrez’s 2009 film Women in Trouble, actress Emmanuelle Chriqui plays Bambi, a sexy stripper who has gone on a getaway trip to Mexico with her best friend, Holly Rocket (Adrianne Palicki). While away, porn star Holly Rocket decides to finally get up the courage to tell Bambi how she really feels about her, truly shocking the unexpecting Bambi.

At the film’s press day, Emmanuelle Chriqui did this exclusive interview with Collider, where she talked about revisiting this character, how much she has enjoyed working with Adrianne Palicki, and how Sebastian Gutierrez is great to work with because he just innately understands her, as a person. She also talked about voicing a character on the ThunderCats reboot on Cartoon Network (update: we’ve spoken to the studio and confirmed it’s Cheetara) and the Tron: Uprising animated series (set to air on Disney XD in the summer of 2012, with a preview on the DVD/Blu-ray release of Tron: Legacy), her role on the upcoming Showtime series The Borgias, and what she’d like to see happen with her character on the last season of the HBO series Entourage. Check out what she had to say after the jump:

Video of the New THUNDERCATS and GREEN LANTERN Toys slice

Yesterday I posted 100 images from Toy Fair 2011.  Included were tons of photos of all the movie related toys set to arrive throughout 2011 like Green Lantern, Smurfs, Happy Feet 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, Star Wars, The Walking Dead, Gremlins and many others.  However, thanks to the good folks at Warner Bros., after the jump you can check out two videos that focus on the upcoming Thundercats and Green Lantern toys.  What I really like about the Thundercats toy line is that they’re making the new and old versions of the characters.  I really hope the new cartoon is good.
