Malin Akerman, Bradley Whitford, and Executive Producers Sarah Haskins and Lee Eisenberg Talk the Return of New TROPHY WIFE Episodes

by     Posted 46 days ago

malin akerman bradley whitford trophy wife

Inspired by the life of co-creator Sarah Haskins, the ABC comedy series Trophy Wife tells the story of a reformed party girl named Kate (Malin Akerman), who is hoping that the third time’s the charm, now that she’s the third wife of the slightly older Pete (Bradley Whitford).  Determined to make things work and become a part of this instant family, no matter what, she has to figure out how to juggle two ex-wives (Marcia Gay Harden, Michaela Watkins) and three step-children (Ryan Lee, Bailee Madison, Albert Tsai) while keeping her sanity.

During this recent interview to promote the return of new episodes, co-stars Malin Akerman and Bradley Whitford, along with executive producers Sarah Haskins and Lee Eisenberg, talked about how The Bachelor host Chris Harrison came to guest star on the show, how they decided on a Disney-themed party for Bert (Tsai), the upcoming two-part wedding episode, their Scandal parody, the character pairings that they’ve been surprised by, and just how relatable this crazy family is to people.  Check out what they had to say after the jump.

TV ratings for Tuesday, February 4th are in.  Here’s a brief look at the highlights:

Tuesday evening’s TV ratings are in.  Here’s a brief look at the highlights:

  • The premiere of CBS’ new drama series Intelligence got off to a fair start with a 2.4 rating in the 18-49 demo and 16.59 million viewers, which marks a rise of 33% from the timeslot premiere of the short-lived Golden Boy last year.  Read Allison’s recap of the episode here.
  • Last night’s midseason premiere of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. kinda sorta explained Agent Coulson’s resurrection to the tune of a 2.1 rating and 6.48 million viewers, which is flat with the show’s last original episode and matches its series low.  If the promise of the answer to the Coulson mystery didn’t draw any viewers back, it’s clear that S.H.I.E.L.D. has basically plateaued.  Read Evan’s recap of the episode here.
  • Over on Fox, New Girl garnered a season low 1.6 rating and 3.17 million viewers in its midseason return, dropping 16% from its last original episode’s 1.9 rating.

When it comes to TV bests in 2013, it’s hard to be restrictive.  Even splitting up new shows and returning shows leaves so much unexplored.  What about miniseries, for instance?  There were so many greats.  And what about all of those amazing season finales, not to mention all of the full series we also said goodbye to?  And still, there’s more.  To finish up my list of worthwhile television of the year, here’s a list (in no particular order) of 10 programs, episodes, dearly departed series and sundries – leftovers, in the best sense, and with a few overlaps — that deserve a mention.  If 2014 does half this well, things should look pretty good.

Tuesday evening’s TV ratings are in.  Here’s a brief look at the highlights:

  • Fox’s comedies took yet another dive, as the new series Brooklyn Nine-Nine hit a 1.4 rating and 3.42 million viewers for a 22% drop and New Girl garnered a 1.9 rating and 3.89 million viewers for a 10% drop.
