Cars 2 was the inevitable letdown from Pixar after 11 good-to-amazing movies in a row. But we’ve spent the last few months watching these guys demonstrate the ability to tell great stories in any form (Brad Bird‘s Mission: Impossible 4, Andrew Stanton‘s John Carter). All the promotional material suggests this is Pixar on the grandest scale yet. And the animation studio cast a predictably reliable group of Brits as the main voices: Kelly Macdonald, Emma Thompson, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson, Robbie Coltrane, Julie Walters.
Honestly, I should probably manage my expectations better. Because in my current state, if Brave isn’t a return to form, I’ll be crushed. But I see the detail in these character wallpapers that Disney has released, and I cherish them. Check out the wallpapers for yourself after the jump. Directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, Brave opens in 3D on June 22.

Marvel has released three desktop wallpaper for their pair of superhero summer tentpoles — one for Thor and two for Captain America: The First Avenger. Each takes one of the recently released images of Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Chris Evans as Cap in various action poses (including “running through the factory” and “about to crush you a mythical hammer”), slaps on the logo, and sizes it to fit your computer.
Thor opens on May 6; Captain America: The First Avenger follows on July 22. Hit the jump to see the images in high resolution.

Yesterday, Steve took some shots of the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World standee/teaser poster. Today, the official website has released a hi-res version of the poster plus a corresponding wallpaper for you desktop’s enjoyment.
Since I didn’t get a chance to comment on the poster yesterday, I’ll throw in my two cents now: I really like the tagline. As far as the image goes, I’m not crazy about it. I think something more along the lines of the book (and reportedly movie’s) embrace of video games (specifically 8-bit classics), would be more eye-catching. Instead, they’re hiding Michael Cera’s face and it looks like the film is about music. But I’m not going to obsess over the poster when I enjoy obsessing over the movie so much more. Hopefully this teaser poster is a signal that we’ll be getting a teaser trailer in the near future.
Hit the jump to check out the hi-res versions of the poster and wallpaper plus the official synopsis. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World hits theaters on August 13th.
