In response to fan outrage that some of the footage in Iron Man 3 was exclusive to the Chinese release, the studios have decided to recut said footage into a short film and release it. The short focuses on Dr. Wu, a character who only gets ten seconds of screen time in the American theatrical release. Titled The Prologue, the short film will reveal more about Wu, who is played by the Chinese actor Wang Xueqi. Hit the jump for more information.
Marvel’s release of Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 is not only hotly anticipated here in the States, but all around the world. If you live in China, you’ll also be treated to a Chinese version of the film at a future undetermined date that features a special appearance by Fan Bingbing in addition to bonus features specifically tailored to Chinese audiences. Both versions of the film will star renowned Chinese actor Wang Xueqi as well as footage filmed in Beijing last December. If you don’t happen to live in China, not to worry; the bonus scenes will likely appear on the Blu-ray and DVD release of Iron Man 3 in the future, though this particular report doesn’t address that quite yet.

Earlier today, Marvel unveiled this fantastic new trailer for Shane Black’s Iron Man 3, but now a new international trailer is also available online. It’s the same basic trailer seen earlier today with bits of new footage revealed. The scenes appear to be skewed toward the Chinese audience as actors Wang Xueqi and Fan Bingbing are featured.

This morning, we have some new comments from stars Robert Downey Jr. and James Badge Dale about Iron Man 3. Dale, who was last seen in Flight, plays the villain Eric Savin a.k.a. “Coldblood.” Speaking to Glow [via Just Jared], Dale talked a bit about the tone for the upcoming superhero sequel. “[Iron Man 3] is really a dark comedy with a little bit of farce,” said Dale. “The trick is to be able to have the audience relate to you. Director Shane Black gave me a long leash.” We’ve definitely seen the darkness from the recent trailer, but looking at Black’s previous films, I’m sure the comedy will be present as well.
