In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, in theaters on August 8th, four Ninja turtles, known as Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo and Donatello, must leave their home in the storm sewers of Manhattan and battle evil with the help of their sensei, Master Splinter.

Following their panel in Hall H at Comic-Con (read our recap), co-stars Megan Fox (“April O’Neil”) and Will Arnett (“Vernon Fenwick”) spoke to press in a roundtable interview about how this Vernon is a supportive friend to April, how April is connected to the origin of the Turtles, which versions of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles they’ve most responded to, over the years, and sharing the Turtles with their kids.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Comic-Con Panel Recap: Trying to Find Turtle Power in Hall H

teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-comic-con-panel-recap

I want to be excited for Jonathan Liebesman’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  I loved the Turtles when I was a kid.  I collected the play sets, went to see the 90s live-action movie multiple times, and watched the animated TV show religiously.  While no remake is going to take that away, I would like to be as excited for the Turtles now as I was back then.  Unfortunately, I haven’t seen anything yet to turn me around, so I hoped today’s Comic-Con panel would do the trick.

International TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Posters Play Up the Action

I want to lie.  I want to say I’m angry about director Jonathan Liebesman’s new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.  But I’m not.  Even as a childhood fan of the somewhat violent Black & White comics I don’t feel violated.  I’m an adult now, and this is a movie about giant turtles.  And, that being said, it actually doesn’t even look that bad for a kids movie.  And a “kids movie” is certainly what these posters are selling.  Because one of them is a dramatic rendering of turtles plummeting away from an explosion.

In the new live-action iteration, a city is in the iron grip of Shredder (William Fichtner) and the Foot Clan, and it’s up to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, along with the help of reporter April O’Neil (Megan Fox) and her cameraman Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett), to stop Shredder and save the day.  Hit the jump to check out international versions of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles posters.  The film also features the voices of Johnny Knoxville and Tony Shalhoub and opens in theaters on August 8th.

New TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Trailer and Posters Bring the Dubstep to Introduce Shredder

Paramount Pictures has released a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer as well as a collection of character posters for director Jonathan Liebesman’s adaptation of the popular property. There’s a bit of a disconnect in the trailer in that, aesthetically, the film looks like Transformers, but the tone seems geared towards a younger, less serious audience.  Even Shredder, which we get a good look at here, just looks like a modified Transformer.  I think more colorful/goofy is the way to go with this franchise (you can’t make a “gritty” TMNT without it coming off as ridiculous), but I still can’t tell who this movie is aimed at.  And then there’s the dubstep.

New TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Trailer Offers New Glimpses of the Title Turtles in Action, Plus a New Image Featuring Megan Fox and Will Arnett

It’s only got about 2% new footage in it, but this new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer does feature a couple of new glimpses at the title characters and their nemesis, The Shredder (William Fichtner).  Additionally, Paramount has released a new image that shows off a new look at the film’s very human and relatively mundane characters, Vernon Fenwick (Will Arnett) and April O’Neil (Megan Fox).  I’d still like to see a bit more in the way of footage and storyline before I make a final decision one way or the other on this film, but it’s looking surprisingly entertaining so far.

The film stars Alan RitchsonPete PloszekJeremy HowardNoel Fisher, and Danny Woodburn, with Johnny Knoxville and Tony Shalhoub voicing Leonardo and Splinter respectively, and opens August 8th.  Hit the jump to watch the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer and check out the newly released image.

TOP 5: First Teaser Trailer for TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, NOAH, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, SABOTAGE, CinemaCon Coverage

I’ve decided to use this weekend’s release of Darren Aronofsky‘s Noah as an opportunity to reflect on the director’s most soul crushing work to date: his adaptation of the Hubert Selby Jr. novel of the same name, Requiem for a Dream. While I’d list Black Swan as my favorite Aronofsky film, Requiem stands alone as a devastating look at the nature of addiction that, by its end credits, will assure you that nothing decent will ever happen to you again. The film netted the great Ellen Burstyn her sixth Academy Award nod while Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly, and Marlon Wayans provided equally powerful performances as heroin addicts whose trajectories only bend downwards. While its story and characters offer little to be optimistic about, Requiem all but cemented Aronofsky’s place among the most skilled and uncompromising filmmakers of his generation. If you haven’t already, check out the film on Amazon Instant Video where it’s available to stream. Just be sure you’re not already in an emotionally fragile state or else you’re in for a long night.

Aronofsky reflections aside, this week’s Top 5 highlights the first teaser trailer for director Jonathan Liebesman‘s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, interviews for and Matt’s review of Noah, the new trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past, Sabotage interviews and Matt’s review, and Steve’s coverage of CinemaCon from Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. First Teaser Trailer for TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Starring Megan Fox and Will Arnett

Paramount Pictures has released the first teaser trailer for director Jonathan Liebesman’s (Battle: LA) reboot Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  There’s not a lot of footage here, so it’s tough to make a judgment call beyond being unsure who this movie is for.  It looks like they’re trying to make it in the vein of Transformers, but robots are easy compared to something organic.  Is this meant to appeal to the nostalgia of older viewers?  Are the turtles too creepy for kids?  I don’t know what Liebesman is going for, and overall this feels like an announcement trailer.  Most people don’t know a new Ninja Turtles movie is coming.  Now it’s a matter of evaluating the response.  What’s yours?  Sound off in the comments.

Shortly before introducing the world premiere of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles teaser trailer at CinemaCon yesterday in Las Vegas, I managed to speak with Will Arnett on the red carpet for a few minutes.  In the film, Arnett plays Vernon Fenwick, who works alongside Megan Fox (April O’Neil).  During the brief interview, Arnett talked about how he got involved in the film, what it was like working for director Jonathan Liebesman, the first image released from the movie, and if there is any chance Batman could be the lead in The LEGO Movie sequel (he did the voice).  Hit the jump to watch.

While Steve’s at CinemaCon in Vegas, checking out all the latest movie posters and such, he came across this first-look image from Jonathan Liebesman’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  It doesn’t feature any of the title characters, but we do get a close-up of Megan Fox’s reporter character, April O’Neil, and her cameraman, Vernon Fenwick (Will Arnett).  It’s likely a screengrab from the film’s first trailer, which Paramount is debuting during their presentation at the Con, and should be hitting the web anytime now.

Watch: THE LEGO MOVIE Blooper Reel

by     Posted 162 days ago

Outtakes or blooper reels from animated films most often feel a bit contrived given that the “flubs” have to be planned out and created by animators, but that doesn’t make them less entertaining.  In the case of The LEGO Movie, a “blooper reel” has been released online that appears to be a mix of crafted flubs and genuine outtakes from the voice actors that were subsequently animated.  If you’re looking for a little more from Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s excellent and delightful film before you catch a second (or third, or fourth) viewing, this blooper reel should sufficiently tide you over.

With directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller helming The Lego Movie, I was confident the animated film was going to be something special.  But I will fully admit, the film exceeded my lofty expectations.  Loaded with great animation, a fun story, humor for both kids and adults, and an insanely addictive song (Everything is Awesome) that you’ll be singing again and again, The Lego Movie is truly something special and I’m beyond confident both audiences and critics are going to fall in love with the film.  If you’re not familiar with the movie, it’s been made using a mix of stop-motion and CG animation, and the pic revolves around Emmett (voiced by Chris Pratt), an ordinary construction worker who finds himself anointed “The Special”, a master builder who will lead a band of rebels to save the world from the evil President Business (Will Ferrell).  The film also features the voices of Elizabeth Banks, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Charlie Day, Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill, Alison Brie, and many others.

With the film hitting theaters on February 7th, Warner Bros. has provided us with nine clips.  Hit the jump to check them out.  You can also click here for all our previous Lego Movie coverage which includes posters, images, trailers, and more.
