New Featurette for THE WOLVERINE Goes into “A Ronin’s Story”

20th Century Fox has released a new featurette for The Wolverine.  The film finds Hugh Jackman’s titular character isolated in modern day Japan where he faces his ultimate nemesis “in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed.”  The featurette not only describes Logan as a ronin, but it also reiterates how this new movie will take away his powers, so I’m not sure how he can use his claws unless he’s willing to always bleed from the knuckles.  There’s also new footage in the featurette, so we’re close to reaching critical mass when it comes to showing too much.

Hit the jump to check out the featurette.  The film also stars Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Brian Tee, Rila Fukushima, Svetlana Khodchenkova, and Tao Okamoto.  The Wolverine opens in 3D on July 26th.

New Trailer for THE WOLVERINE Starring Hugh Jackman

A new trailer for James Mangold‘s The Wolverine has gone online.  The film finds Hugh Jackman’s titular character isolated in modern day Japan where he faces his ultimate nemesis “in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed.”  This new trailer goes heavy on the drama by showing Logan’s guilt over killing Jean Grey (Famke Janssen) in X-Men: The Last Stand, and why he would consider getting rid of his powers.  This trailer also shows off the strange mix of ancient Japanese warriors and hi-tech sci-fi; a combination that is best represented by the hulking Silver Samurai.  But if Wolverine can shield a guy from what appears to be a nuclear blast, then a giant robot samurai shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

Hit the jump to check out the trailer.  The film also stars Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Brian Tee, Rila Fukushima, Tao Okamoto, and Svetlana KhodchenkovaThe Wolverine opens in 3D on July 26th.

New Posters for THE HANGOVER PART III and THE WOLVERINE

A new poster has been released for The Hangover Part III along with a new international poster for The WolverineThe Hangover poster has the wolf pack dressed to kill, or at least bludgeon severely.  Also, I just realized that Stu’s face tattoo was gone.  I’ll chalk that up to A) The Hangover Part II being incredibly forgettable, and B) I don’t think laser tattoo-removal has reached the point where it wouldn’t leave any trace of a scar.  People who have had tattoos removed: is that possible?  As for The Wolverine poster, it’s not great, but it’s miles better than the other posters except for the teaser.

Hit the jump to check out the posters.  The Hangover Part III opens on May 24th.  The Wolverine opens in 3D on July 26th.

Domestic Trailer for THE WOLVERINE

The international trailer for director James Mangold’s sequel The Wolverine was released about a half-hour ago, and now the domestic version is online.  The film finds Hugh Jackman’s titular character isolated in modern day Japan where he faces his ultimate nemesis “in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed.”  The U.S. trailer contains new footage, and while I think the international version is slightly better, both trailers hammer home the “life-or-death battle”. The big difference is that the U.S. version reveals the man offering Wolverine a chance at mortality.

A new international trailer for director James Mangold’s The Wolverine has been released online. The upcoming film follows the events of X-Men: The Last Stand where a guilt-ridden Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) doesn’t want to live with the curse of immortality, so he’s offered the chance to lose it thanks to a mysterious benefactor.  I really like this premise, although it reminds me a little of this comedy video.  Mangold looks like he’s found a nice balance between action and drama, and I’m eager to see where this story goes.

Hit the jump to watch the international trailer, and click here for the domestic version.  The film also stars Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Brian Tee, Rila Fukushima, Tao Okamoto and Svetlana Khodchenkova.  The Wolverine opens on July 26th.

Yesterday, six seconds of the first trailer for The Wolverine were released.  Today, we’re getting 20 seconds because studio marketing has gone to a horrible place where we get ads for ads for ads.  I’ll have my thoughts on the full trailer when it’s released tomorrow.

Hit the jump to check out the teaser for the trailer plus the new motion poster.  The film stars Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Brian Tee, Rila Fukushima, Tao Okamoto, and Svetlana Khodchenkova.  The Wolverine opens in 3D on July 26th.

2 New Posters and 8 New Images from THE WOLVERINE [Updated with New Motion Poster]

the-wolverine-poster-slice

With the trailer for The Wolverine set to be released in two days, Fox has released two new posters and eight new images from the spinoff-sequel.  The images give us a look at supporting cast members.  The woman in the kimono is Mariko (Tao Okamoto), the woman Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) must protect from the Yakuza; the one with the bright red hair is the warrior Yukio, (Rila Fukushima); and the gal in green is the villainous Viper (Svetlana Khodchenkova).  Looking over these images, I’m not exactly sure what director James Mangold is going for.  Most of the images fit in with the more “realistic” tone he’s been claiming, but Viper’s costume is pure comic-book.  I’m curious to see how it all plays together.  As for the posters, they’re easily in the running for worst of the year.  I honestly can’t decide which is worse—the one with the kneeling scream or the awful photoshop of Wolvie surrounded by ninjas.

Hit the jump to check out the posters and images.  The Wolverine opens in 3D on July 26th. [Update: Click here to check out the 6-second Vine "teaser" for the film]

3 New Images from THE WOLVERINE; First Trailer Due out March 27th

We’ve been getting teased with new images from The Wolverine since September, and three more have arrived online today.  Director James Mangold and star Hugh Jackman have promised that the second Wolverine spinoff will be true to the spirit of the badass character fans have come to know and love.  In fact, in one of the images, which were scanned from Total Film, Jackman is quoted as saying, “It’s the badass Wolverine I know everybody wants to see.”  I’m not sure who we were seeing the last five times (I’ll count the First Class cameo), but no one’s going to turn down seeing that version of the character again.  As for when we might actually see the character in motion, Mangold has tweeted that a sneak peek of the trailer will arrive on March 26th, the 1-minute and 51-second debut trailer will premiere online on the 27th, and the trailer will arrive in 2D and 3D in theaters on the 29th.

Hit the jump to check out the new images.  The film also stars Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Brian Tee, Rila Fukushima, Tao Okamoto and Svetlana KhodchenkovaThe Wolverine opens in 3D on July 26th. [Update: We've been asked to take the images down.]

Another Set Photo from James Mangold’s THE WOLVERINE Starring Hugh Jackman

Director James Mangold has gotten Tweetpic-happy for his upcoming film, The Wolverine.  Over the last several days, he’s been releasing set photos, and he’s released another one today.  His latest image shows a blast-hole through one of Francois Audouy‘s sets.  No offense to Mr. Mangold, but it’s probably best to stick with images of Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) rather than intentional set damage.

We’ve got a couple of superhero images for you this morning.  First up, Empire has released a hi-res version of the previously released image of the sharp-dressed, sharp-clawed Logan (Hugh Jackman) from The Wolverine.  There’s also an official set photo of director Alan Taylor and Chris Hemsworth on the set of Thor: The Dark World.  I like to imagine that Taylor is stoned out of his mind in this image, and marveling at the size of his hand.

New Images from THE WOLVERINE Have Logan Dressing for Success

New images from The Wolverine have been released.  We’re used to seeing Logan (Hugh Jackman) either ripped to shreds or wearing flannel, but one of these images shows that the mutant can clean up pretty well.  Granted, once the claws come out, that suit probably isn’t going to say spiffy, but it was nice while it lasted.

New Hi-Res Image of THE WOLVERINE Starring Hugh Jackman

Last week, we showed you a new image of Golden Globe-winner Hugh Jackman in The Wolverine.  Today, a hi-res version of the image has been released.  In high-resolution, you can really feel the berserker rage that simply doesn’t come across in a 770×470 image. Naturally, this image doesn’t tell us anything about the movie we don’t already know (Wolverine is angry, the film takes place in Japan, etc.), but it’s still nice to get a look at the flick.

Director James Mangold Talks THE WOLVERINE, How Closely the Film Follows the Comic Book Arc, Its Relation to Other X-MEN Movies, and More

by     Posted 1 year, 288 days ago

There’s a pretty hefty round of superhero films headed our way in 2013, with Iron Man, Superman, and Thor all set to grace theaters with their own separate films, and many are eagerly looking forward to the return of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in the sequel The Wolverine.  The film is in an odd position because it’s not a reboot, but it’s also not closely tied to either X-Men Origins: Wolverine or any of the other X-Men films.

A number of exciting directors flirted with the Wolverine gig over the course of its development, but 3:10 to Yuma helmer James Mangold won out in the end.  The Knight and Day filmmaker recently spoke at length about The Wolverine, discussing how closely it follows the Chris Claremont/Frank Miller comics arc, its relation to the other X-Men films, why it was important for the film to take place after the events of X-Men: The Last Stand, and much more.  Hit the jump to see what he had to say.
