Thanks to X-Men: Days of Future Past we know that President John F. Kennedy was a mutant.  Magneto (Michael Fassbender) tried to save him, but he was apprehended before he could stop Lee Harvey Oswald’s bullet.  When Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), Professor X (James McAvoy), Beast (Nicholas Hoult) and Quicksilver (Evan Peters) broke him out of a Pentagon prison, Magneto insisted that he tried to save JFK because he was “one of us.”

What if Robert F. Kennedy was a mutant as well?  According to the X-Men viral campaign, “Kennedy Curse,” he was and he was assassinated because of it.  Hit the jump to see more from RFK’s “Mutants Are Among Us” file.  X-Men: Days of Future Past is currently available digitally and will arrive on DVD and Blu-ray on October 14th

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Will Complete the FIRST CLASS Trilogy; Simon Kinberg Talks Recasting Younger Versions of the Original Characters

x-men-apocalypse-story-first-class-trilogy

It’s hard to imagine an X-Men movie bigger than X-Men: Days of Future Past, what with its multiple timelines, ginormous cast, and time travel shenanigans, but those involved with X-Men: Apocalypse continue to reiterate that it will be the biggest X-Men movie yet.  20th Century Fox recently confirmed that Bryan Singer will indeed be returning to direct, and he’s been hard at work developing the script with DOFP scribe Simon Kinberg and X2 screenwriters Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty.

Filming is scheduled to get underway next spring in anticipation of the film’s May 27, 2016 release date, and to promote the upcoming Blu-ray release of DOFP, Kinberg recently answered a number of fan questions about the franchise.  Chiefly, Kinberg revealed that the thrust of Apocalypse is to “complete the trilogy” that was initially set up in X-Men: First Class.  Hit the jump for much more, including the possibility of seeing younger versions of the original X-Men.

Fox Plans to Release Extended X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST “Rogue Cut” with 10 Extra Minutes Including More Anna Paquin in 2015

X-Men: Days of Future Past is available on Blu-ray and DVD October 14, but 20th Century Fox already has its eyes toward an extended cut next year.  Anna Paquin‘s scenes as Rogue were notably cut from the theatrical release.  Variety reports the “Rogue Cut” will add 10 minutes of extra footage including Paquin’s scenes and additional sequences.  Producer Simon Kinberg remarked on the importance of Paquin’s storyline:

“It’s a big chunk, a substantial part of the movie.  We want to give (fans) the fullest picture of the film—behind the camera, and in front of it… Every movie has scenes that are cut out, but not every movie has scenes cut out with such a beloved character.”

The tentative plan is to release the X-Men: Days of Future Past “Rogue Cut” in the first half of next year, likely Summer 2015.  More after the jump.

Quicksilver Runs to Social Media for the X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Blu-ray

I think many of us can agree that Quicksilver (Evan Peters) was one of the best and surprising aspects of X-Men: Days of Future Past.  20th Century Fox is now seizing on the character’s popularity by sending him on to social media.  Please don’t ask me why a character from the 1970s is on Instagram and Vine.  They don’t show his face in this “post” so I guess you could say it’s an adult Peter Maximoff making sure to Instagram and Vine his movements?  I will say Vine is probably the best medium for someone who does a lot with not much time.  Look for more updates from Evan Peters over the next week.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is due out on Blu-ray/DVD in a few weeks and Fox has started doling out some viral videos (and a website or two) to remind us of its existence and perhaps to further cement the perception that there’s indeed a very strong connection (how could there not be) with the about-to-shoot X-Men: Apocalypse. The first video to hit is slight, but also aesthetically pleasing.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is due out on Blu-ray/DVD in a few weeks, so naturally the special features are starting to leak online.  The first piece of bonus material is the five-minute gag reel, which is fairly entertaining.  It has the its fair share of flubs and mugging into the camera, but it’s still charming.  More importantly, it has actual jokes, and perhaps to no one’s surprise, the best one comes from Sir Patrick Stewart.

Hit the jump to check out the X-Men: Days of Future Past gag reel, and click here to pre-order the Blu-ray/DVD, which will be released on October 14th.

Update: The video has been removed from Vimeo. When it’s back online we’ll re-post.

James McAvoy Will Likely Go Bald in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

Brace yourselves, X-Men fans: a staple of the comic books may be emerging in director Bryan Singer’s upcoming sequel X-Men: Apocalypse.  Ever since James McAvoy was first cast as the young Professor X in X-Men: First Class, fans have been asking when he’ll be taking on Charles’ signature Mr. Clean-esque hairstyle.  It’s kind of a silly thing to harp on (does it really matter that much if Professor X has hair or not?), but following the events of the recent X-Men: Days of Future Past, it appears that the character may start to look more like his comics counterpart, as McAvoy recently said he thinks Apocalypse is when his character will finally go bald.  More after the jump.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Filming Date Revealed; Movie Will Shoot in Montreal

by     Posted 27 days ago

x-men-apocalypse-filming-date

With X-Men: Days of Future Past being both a hit and much better than most people expected, the gears are moving fast for X-Men: Apocalypse.  As the title and the post-credits stinger at the end of DOFP imply, the primary antagonist will be the supervillain Apocalypse.  The story will follow the First Class gang along with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine into the 1980s.  We also know from the treatment page teased last month that the Four Horseman will again be making an appearance.

And now we might also have a start date for filming.  With his legal troubles seemingly under control, Bryan Singer is expected (but not confirmed) to direct the film from a script he’s been developing with Days of Future Past screenwriter Simon Kinberg and X2 scribes Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris.  The release date is May 27th, 2016.  Hit the jump for more on the X-Men: Apocalypse filming date.

David Hayter Talks DEVIL’S MILE, Creature Movie Magic, A New Sci-Fi Franchise He’s Developing, BLACK WIDOW and More

With writing credits like X-Men and Watchmen to his name, it can be easy to overlook the fact that David Hayter has also kept quite busy in the acting and voice acting realms as well.  He’s still pushing forward as a writer/director and has his latest directorial endeavor, Wolves, due in the fall, but Hayter also abides by one very important acting rule; if someone asks him to take a part, he’s going to do it, and that’s how Devil’s Mile came up.

Hayter steps in as Toby, a henchman of sorts to an evil crime boss named Mr. Arkadi who orders him and his cohorts, Cally (Maria del Mar) and Jacinta (Casey Hudecki), to kidnap two girls.  They manage to get them, but delivering them becomes the problem due to the rather sinister nature of the route home.  With Devil’s Mile hitting DVD and VOD on August 12th, Hayter got on the phone with Collider to talk about making this movie, a new sci-fi franchise he’s developing, his old Black Widow script and more.  Hit the jump to check it out, but be aware, there are some plot spoilers in this interview.

Kelsey Grammer Talks TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION, Michael Bay, the New IMAX 4K 3D Digital Camera, THE EXPENDABLES 3, X-MEN, and More

Kelsey-Grammer-Transformers-Age-of-Extinction-interview

Kelsey Grammer is having a great summer.  Not only did the talented actor return to the X-Men franchise for an awesome cameo in X-Men: Days of Future Past, he’s got a role in The Expendables 3, and he got to play one of the villains in Michael Bay’s  Transformers: Age of Extinction.  And this doesn’t count all of his other roles in upcoming films.

As a fan of Grammer’s work for what feels like my entire life, it was a really cool to get to talk to him last week in Hong Kong the day after the world premiere.  He  talked about what it was like to work with Michael Bay, working with new technology like the new IMAX 4K 3D digital camera, how he got involved in X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Expendables 3, and more.  Hit the jump to watch and click here for all our Transformers: Age of Extinction coverage.

Bryan Singer Teases X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Script Image

x-men-apocalypse-script-image

With the news that X-Men: Days of Future Past has now become the highest grossing film of 2014 thus far at the worldwide box office, anticipation is high for the follow-up X-Men: Apocalypse.  As the title (and DOFP post-credits sequence) suggests, the film involves the comics supervillain Apocalypse, and we know that the story will follow the First Class cast plus Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine into the 1980s.  Singer is expected to return to direct, and he’s been working on the script with Days of Future Past screenwriter Simon Kinberg and X2 scribes Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris.

It now appears that at least the treatment for the script is finished, as today Singer shared an image of the first page, which actually clues us into what we can expect from the proposed Apocalypse prologue.  Hit the jump to take a look.

Kelsey Grammer Talks Appearing in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST; Says He Hopes to Do Another X-MEN Film

When the casting stories for X-Men: Days of Future Past began to hit, it became clear very quickly that director Bryan Singer was bringing back nearly every actor who had ever appeared in one of the proper X-Men films.  The split timeline of the superhero pic made it possible to use Patrick Stewart and James McAcvoy in the same movie, and towards the end of the film, even more actors popped up in some quick, exciting cameos.  Once such actor was Kelsey Grammer, whose first and only other appearance as Beast was in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand.

While speaking with Grammer in Hong Kong in anticipation of the release of Transformers: Age of Extinction, Steve also asked the actor about his appearance in X-men: Days of Future Past.  Grammer revealed that he actually called Singer personally to see if he could come back, and expressed his desire to play Beast again in another future X-Men film.  More after the jump.

Channing Tatum Says “I’m About as in as I Could Possibly Be” for GAMBIT; Hopes to “Change Up” the Superhero Movie

by     Posted 117 days ago

gambit-movie-details-channing-tatum

Though the “McConaissance” is all the rage at the moment, actor Channing Tatum has been undergoing a pretty impressive career transformation of his own over the past couple of years.  After working in films like Step Up, Dear John, and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra early in his career, Tatum started taking some big risks with excellent payoffs.  Director Steven Soderbergh brought out a different side of the actor in Magic Mike, Haywire, and Side Effects, he proved to be fantastically adept at comedy with standout roles in 21 Jump Street and This Is the End, and he drew raves for his dramatic work in the dark drama Foxcatcher at that film’s Cannes premiere last month.  With these eclectic performances under his belt, Tatum now has his eyes set on something many other actors are vying for: his own superhero movie.

Tatum has been keen on playing the X-Men character Gambit for a while now, and with recent news that plans are firming up for a standalone Gambit movie with Tatum, Steve took the opportunity to ask the actor about the film during the press day for the upcoming sequel 22 Jump Street.  Tatum cautioned that it’s still very early in the story stages, but confirmed he’s as in as he “could possibly be” and said he’d like to change up the superhero movie with this film.  Read on after the jump.
