Director Bryan Singer has been happy to release plenty of set photos from X-Men: Days of Future Past, but that doesn’t mean they won’t come from other sources.  Today, set photos have leaked of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender walking to set in their 1970s threads.  We can also Peter Dinklage in a business suit, which, coupled with Tuesday’s set photo from Singer, almost confirms that he’s playing Bolivar Trask, creator of the Sentinels.  It’s also worth noting that Fassbender’s costumes shows he won’t be in full Magneto regalia throughout the movie.  He can wear a scarf and sideburns with the best of ‘em.

Director Bryan Singer has shared yet another image from the set of X-Men: Days of Future Past, and this time we get our first look at one of the returning castmembers from X-Men: First Class.  It appears that James McAvoy’s young Professor X has gone through a rather dramatic change in appearance, as Singer’s caption on the photo of “Serpico” pretty much sums up McAvoy’s shaggy, 1970s look.  McAvoy’s Professor X still has plenty of hair and is sporting a slightly darker look than he did in First Class, and we also get to see him in his new wheelchair.

Hit the jump to take a look at the image, and if you missed them check out Singer’s images of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine,  Halle Berry as StormPatrick Stewart as Professor X, and Shawn Ashmore as Iceman.  The film also stars Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Ian McKellanAnna Paquin, Ellen Page, Omar SyDaniel Cudmore, Booboo Stewart, Fan Bingbing, and Peter Dinklage.  X-Men: Days of Future Past opens July 18, 2014.

Production is underway on the sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past, but the fact that he’s now busy filming the actual movie hasn’t stopped director Bryan Singer from teasing the superhero pic via photos on Twitter.  We most recently got glimpses of Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and Shawn Ashmore’s Iceman in costume, and today Singer shared an image of Halle Berry back in character as Storm.  The film melds the casts of Singer’s X-Men films and Matthew Vaughn’s prequel X-Men: First Class, as the DOFP story involves alternate timelines and dystopian futures.

One thing’s for certain when it comes to the sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past: director Bryan Singer has put together one hell of a cast.  Not only are James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult reprising their roles from First Class, but Singer is tackling a beloved comics storyline that involves time travel and dystopian futures, so he’s also bringing back a bounty of characters from previous X-Men films like Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, and Ellen Page.

Though the ensemble is looking great (with Peter Dinklage being the latest addition), McAvoy recently let slip that the young and old versions of Professor X likely won’t be seen interacting onscreen.  Hit the jump for more.

Bryan Singer is active this week, revealing plenty about X-Men: Days of Future Past, the sequel that takes place 11 years after First Class.  He teased an all-CG character and the significance of Richard Nixon in the story.  Now singer has tweeted an exciting piece of casting: Peter Dinklage will join the ensemble alongside Michael Fassbender, James McAvoyNicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman and more from the X-Men repertory.

I don’t know the X-Men comics well, but the responses to Singer’s tweet tell me that Dinklage will likely play Puck.  Hit the jump for more on the character.

With the critical and commercial success of director Mathew Vaughn’s 2011’s X-Men: First Class, the X-Men franchise had been sufficiently revitalized and fans were eager to see more of the First Class characters in a sequel.  Though it would have been easy for 20th Century Fox to simply continue the story in the 1970s as we follow the rift between Michael Fassbender’s Magneto and James McAvoy’s Professor X, the studio is taking a more ambitious approach to the follow-up.  X-Men and X2 director Bryan Singer is onboard to direct X-Men: Days of Future Past, and the film’s story will follow the comics arc of the same name that involves time travel and dystopian futures, with a number of past actors from the X-Men franchise reprising their roles.

Steve recently spoke with Singer in anticipation of the director’s upcoming fantasy adventure Jack the Giant Slayer, and the filmmaker talked at length about X-Men: Days of Future Past, revealing that filming will take place from April to October of this year and talking about how he assembled the giant cast and how he came to replace Vaughn as director.  Singer also revealed that he’ll be shooting the movie in 3D (not at 48 fps), Richard Nixon is a character, and it will be the biggest movie he’s ever made.  Hit the jump to read on.

In the past, we’ve been forced to take reports from comic book writer Mark Millar with a grain of salt.  He has a nasty habit of taking development matters that are in flux, and then declaring them as fact.  However, now that he’s a creative consultant on Fox’s Marvel properties, his insider info carries a little more weight.  In a recent interview with SFX magazine, Millar commented on Bryan Singer‘s X-Men: Days of Future Past, the role of the Sentinels, what Kitty Pryde fans can expect, and more.

Hit the jump for Millar’s comments on the upcoming sequel.  The film stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, and Hugh Jackman.   X-Men: Days of Future Past opens July 18, 2014.

We’re not even a month through 2013 yet, but Bryan Singer‘s X-Men: Days of Future Past is probably one of the most-anticipated films of 2014.  He’s been wielding his Twitter account to release casting news, and a couple days ago he revealed that Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, and Shawn Ashmore will be joining a massive cast that already includes James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and Hugh Jackman.  Speaking to Empire, Singer said, “It’s epic. I don’t think people realize how big this movie’s going to be.”  Oh, we realize it, Mr. Singer.  We realize it indeed.

Hit the jump for what Singer had to say about managing the time-travel, adapting the comic, and considering the previous X-Men movies.  X-Men: Days of Future Past is due out July 18, 2014.

If it wasn’t clear before, it certainly is now: director Bryan Singer is making one incredibly ambitious film with the X-Men: First Class sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past.  In addition to First Class stars Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Jennifer Lawrence, we previously learned that X-Men actors Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart, and Hugh Jackman will be reprising their roles in the upcoming follow-up.  The story involves time travel and alternate realities, so the mixing of the younger actors and older actors fits well within the film’s complex plot.

It appears that Singer isn’t simply bringing a few stars from X-Men and X2 back for Days of Future Past, as he revealed on Twitter today that Anna Paquin (Rogue), Ellen Page (Kitty Pryde), and Shawn Ashmore (Iceman) will also be joining the cast of Days of Future Past.  Hit the jump for more.

January Jones Says She Doesn’t Think She’s in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

Director Matthew Vaughn’s period superhero pic X-Men: First Class was a sizeable hit with both audiences and critics when it was released in 2011, and fans are very much looking forward to the Bryan Singer-helmed sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past.  We know that the follow-up will be a melding of the cast from First Class and the previous three X-Men films, with Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart, and Hugh Jackman already confirmed to appear alongside James McAvoyMichael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence.

I had the chance to speak with January Jones earlier today at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival about her upcoming western/thriller Sweetwater, and with production getting ready to begin on Days of Future Past, I asked her about the return of her character Emma Frost from First Class.  Jones revealed that she hasn’t been contacted about reprising that role in DOFP, saying that she doesn’t think she’s in the sequel.  Hit the jump for what she had to say.

Famke Janssen Says She’s Waiting to Hear from Bryan Singer About Appearing in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

As the production start-date for the X-Men: First Class sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past looms closer, the film is starting to look more and more like a bridge of sorts between the period First Class story and the present day-set X-Men films. X-Men and X2 director Bryan Singer recently stepped in to replace Matthew Vaughn as director on the project, and we’ve been hearing about a number of X-Men castmembers who are set to make appearances in the ambitious superhero pic.  Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellan are all confirmed to pop up at some point in Days of Future Past, with even more reprisals expected to be announced soon.

One of the major players from the first trilogy of films was certainly Famke Janssen’s Jean Grey, and we recently spoke with the actress in anticipation of the release of Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters.  She talked briefly about the possibility of appearing in X-Men: Days of Future Past, and it certainly sounds like she’s game to return to the X-Men world should Singer extend an offer to come back.  Hit the jump to see what she had to say.

Hugh Jackman Confirmed to Return for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

Last month, we reported that Hugh Jackman was in talks to reprise his role as Wolverine in Bryan Singer‘s X-Men: Days of Future Past.  Singer, who recently joined Twitter, has been working the site like a pro by keeping fans in the loop for the highly-anticipated superhero film.  Last night, he tweeted “I would officially like to welcome @RealHughJackman to the cast of #Xmen Days of Future Past. Very excited! More to come…”  Singer previously tweeted that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen were poised to return as Professor X and Magneto, respectively.  The “more to come…” hints that other X-Men from the previous films might be on the way.    However, these returning mutants might only amount to cameos.  According to THR, “For one, Jackman and the others will appear mostly in scenes depicting an alternate dystopic future, so pay and time commitments are not substantial.”

FANTASTIC FOUR Reboot Set for March 6, 2015 Release Date; THE WOLVERINE, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST and More Going 3D

If all goes according to plan, 2015 will be one ridiculous year for movies.  Currently, The Avengers 2, Justice League, Ant-Man, Star Wars: Episode VII, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 are all tentatively slated for 2015 release dates.  Now Fox is throwing one more highly anticipated title into the pile, as their Fantastic Four reboot now has a March 6, 2015 release date.  Titled The Fantastic Four, the film has Chronicle director Josh Trank at the helm and Jeremy Slater penning the screenplay.  Plot details are practically non-existent at the moment, but with two promising gents creatively spearheading the project, there’s certainly hope for a fun take on the comic book property that will help us all put Tim Story‘s overly cheesy films out of our memory for good.

Additionally, Fox has announced that a number of their upcoming films will be post-converted to 3D.  Hit the jump for more.

More Original Trilogy X-MEN Stars Sought to Reprise Their Roles in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

The upcoming sequel to last year’s excellent X-Men: First Class is shaping up to be one hell of a superhero movie.  X-Men and X2 director Bryan Singer recently signed on to replace Matthew Vaughn in the director’s chair for X-Men: Days of Future Past after Vaughn abruptly opted to step back to producer role, and we recently learned that a few actors from Singer’s X-Men films will be reprising their roles in the sequel.  Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan are poised to return as Professor X and Magneto, respectively, and late last week Hugh Jackman entered talks to reprise his role as Wolverine.

It’s not exactly a surprise, then, as word now comes that Singer plans to bring back even more original trilogy castmembers for Days of Future Past.  Hit the jump for more, including how all these characters will fit into the story.

Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen Join X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST; McAvoy, Fassbender, Lawrence, and Hoult to Return

Well here’s an interesting twist.  Bryan Singer has tweeted that Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart have joined X-Men: Days of Future Past, which is supposedly a sequel not to X-Men: The Last Stand, but X-Men: First Class.  So how will they be used?  There are a couple of possibilities I can think of off the top of my head.  First, they’ll just be a couple of cameos used as a framing device, so that Professor X and Magneto are looking back at the events of the new movie.  When these remembrances would occur in terms of the original trilogy is a bit fuzzy since Last Stand ends on the borderline of the status quo [spoilers] (Magneto loses his powers, but not really; Professor X dies, but not really).

Hit the jump for more speculation.  Singer also tweeted that James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult will all return.  No mention on First Class‘ other cast members.  Filming on the upcoming sequel is set to begin early next year.
