It’s officially official, folks: Dexter has run its course. While producers of the wildly popular Showtime series had previously stated that they began season seven with the intention that the show would come to an end at the conclusion of season eight, the network had yet to publicly confirm an end date. Now Showtime has confirmed that the upcoming eighth season of Dexter will in fact be its last. The Michael C. Hall-fronted series continues to be a ratings draw for the pay cable network, but its quality has been a bit of a roller coaster over the past few seasons.

The first teaser trailer for season eight hinted at the titular character hitting a breaking point this year, and it’ll be interesting to see what kind of endgame the producers have in mind given the events that transpired last season. Yvonne Strahovski, who appeared in a multi-episode arc last year, is confirmed to be returning for this final season, so might Dex get a semi-happy ending after all? We’ll find out for sure this summer when season eight of Dexter premieres on Sunday, June 30th. Hit the jump to watch a sneak peek clip from the final season.

The first trailer for the road trip comedy The Guilt Trip has been released. The film stars Seth Rogen as an inventor who sets out on a business trip with his mother (Barbra Streisand) in tow. The trailer actually doesn't look half-bad, with Rogen and Streisand showing off some promising chemistry. There are a few solid jokes, and I appreciate the sweet emotional backbone that grounds the story in lieu of just having Rogen and Streisand go on a road trip with "zany adventures." Rogen's familial situation isn't uncommon (I can definitely relate), and it looks to be a nice foundation for the film's story. In the event that your family isn't keen on seeing Django Unchained this Christmas, The Guilt Trip doesn't sound like a terrible compromise.

Hit the jump to watch the trailer. Directed by Anne Fletcher (The Proposal), the film also stars Yvonne Strahovski, Adam Scott, and Danny Pudi. The Guilt Trip opens on December 25th.

Click over to Yahoo! to watch in HD.

Here’s a synopsis for The Guilt Trip:
Andy Brewster (Seth Rogen) is an inventor who lives in Los Angeles. He’s come up with an amazing organic cleaner but can’t get anyone interested in manufacturing it.

Andy plans a business trip to promote the product and decides to take his recently-widowed mother (Barbra Streisand) along for the ride. She’s been despondent since his father died, so he comes up with a great idea—during the trip he’ll surprise her with a stop in San Francisco, where one of her ex-flames lives.

Every previous season of Showtime's Dexter has been positively packed with tension and season seven is promising to continue that trend. For those of you who haven't caught up with the show, we'll save the spoilers until after the jump. Let's just say that Dexter (Michael C. Hall) was in a tight spot at the end of season six. While this happens nearly every season, the current predicament hits pretty close to home. Unfortunately, the new trailer is super spoilery, so only go ahead and hit the jump if that doesn't bother you. Dexter, also starring Jennifer Carpenter, Lauren Velez, David Zayas, C.S. Lee and show newcomers Yvonne Strahovski, Ray Stevenson and Jason Gedrick, returns Sunday, September 30th at 9PM on Showtime. Hit the jump to see the bloody new trailer.

Last chance to turn away from this spoilery new trailer for season seven of Dexter. You've been warned:

Actress Yvonne Strahovski joins Season 7 of the Showtime drama series Dexter, premiering on September 30th, playing the mysterious Hannah McKay. A woman with a dark part and secrets of her own, she meets Dexter (Michael C. Hall) because she’s helping the Miami Police Department on an old case.

While at the Showtime portion of the TCA Press Tour, Collider (along with one other outlet) was given the opportunity to participate in an interview with the ultra-charming Aussie about her transition from the more light-hearted Chuck to the darker and sexier material on Dexter, the nerve-wracking experience of being a guest on someone else’s show, watching all six seasons in three weeks prior to her starting work, and how badly she wants to get to say the F-word on camera. She also talked about her work in the upcoming features Guilt Trip (with Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand) and I, Frankenstein (with Aaron Eckhart and Bill Nighy), her favorite memory of her time on Chuck, and what she learned from the five years she spent in her first lead role on an American TV show. Check out what she had to say after the jump.

Question: What can you say about your character, this coming season?

YVONNE STRAHOVSKI: Well, I play Hannah McKay, who comes into the story in Episode 3. It’s safe to say that she has a dark past that is slowly revealed, as the episodes go on, and she holds some secrets. She meets Dexter because she’s helping the Miami ...

When we last left off with Showtime’s hit drama series Dexter, the titular serial killer was caught in a rather precarious position. Though season six as a whole left much to be desired, the cliffhanger hinted that producers were taking the show in an exciting direction for season seven. The upcoming season may or may not be the second to last installment of new episodes for the series (producers are keen on ending the series after season eight, but Showtime is hoping they’ll stretch things out to nine), so fans are hoping for some major developments in the new season. The first poster and a batch of new images from season seven have been released, with the tagline on the poster offering a tantalizing clue as to where things may be headed. Though a certain romantic subplot has me wary about how the story might play out, I'm hopeful that producers can bring the long-running series to a strong conclusion.

Hit the jump to take a look at the poster and images, which give us our first look at new cast members Yvonne Strahovski, Ray Stevenson, and Jason Gedrick. Dexter season 7 premieres on Sunday, September 30th at 9pm EST on Showtime.

Howling fans of intrigue and murder packed Ballroom 20 today for a Showtime's combo Homeland/Dexter panel. We learned a new locale for Homeland, the dramatic thriller concerning a CIA officer (Claire Danes) and a soldier returning from enemy captivity who may be a threat to the U.S. (Damian Lewis). And we also met a new face for Dexter. The show, which will be entering its seventh season this fall, stars Michael C. Hall as the fan-favorite killer with a conscience. Read more about terrorists and serial killers after the jump.

After leaving Carrie on the operating table at the end of season one, even Executive Producer of the series Homeland Howard Gordon knew that getting Carrie (Claire Danes) back into the story was a challenge. The audience was treated to a tease of season two and it shows no signs of slowing down.

Based on the tease, we know that Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) will have taken political office.
The first two episodes take place in Beirut, but were filmed in Israel.
Carrie's mental illness will always be present, but as Gordon puts it, "that danger and that gift is always part of the character.
Though Danes herself is pregnant, Carrie will not be.
An online Homeland game launches July 30th at ithitshome.com

The people from Dexter gave the ultimate tease when they cued the audience up with a "previously on Dexter" recap of season six before laying down the first few minutes of season seven, which take place directly following Deb's discovery. Dexter will continue his ...

Showtime has released a short teaser trailer for season seven of Dexter featuring tons of never-before-seen footage. The catch? It all blurs by in about five seconds. Try as I might, I wasn't able to capture any images of the show's newcomer, Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck), so she may or may not be featured in the teaser. People who are featured include Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, David Zayas, James Remar, C.S. Lee and Desmond Harrington. Obviously, if you haven't caught up to the dramatic conclusion of the season six finale, you should steer clear of any of the following information as it contains heavy spoilers. Dexter returns to Showtime for its seventh season starting September 30th. Hit the jump to check out the teaser.

Season seven of Dexter is going to be the second to last, so I fully expect a lot of setup and a big cliffhanger at the end of this season before heading into the final eighth. Are you ready for a rapid-fire session of Dexter footage? Check the video out below:

While you would miss the whole thing if you blinked, TVLine has conveniently grabbed a bunch of screencaps. We've posted a few below, but be sure to visit their site for more. Since you're squarely in the spoiler zone now, you may as well check out this more conventional trailer for season seven of Dexter. And if you're lucky enough to be joining us at 2012's San Diego Comic-Con, you can catch your favorite Dexter stars there ...

A new trailer for the seventh season of Dexter showed up just last week, and while there hasn’t been any new footage shown from the new season, it does hint at some big things happening between Dexter (Michael C. Hall) and his sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter), especially following the cliffhanger ending last season. Hopefully we’ll get more of an idea of what this season will entail at Comic-Con next month, bot for now, we have some hints from executive producer Sara Colleton who not only details some of the plot points of the forthcoming seventh season, but also confirms that the eighth season will be the last for Dexter. More details after the jump.

First of all, Colleton, speaking to TV Guide, has no doubt that the eighth season will be the last for Dexter. This was talked about when Showtime renewed the series for two more seasons last year, but Colleton officially confirms it saying:
“This was definite. We wanted to end it this year, but the network convinced us that it would be best to do it in two years. In some ways, this is a two-season series-ender. We have worked that out and know where it's going to end. Next year will definitely be the last year of Dexter. Absolutely.”
Hopefully that means they don’t have to draw out the series in a way that feels forced for two seasons rather than just ending this season. But after hearing some of the plots from the seventh season, it sounds like ...

We just learned that Showtime is bringing Dexter back to Comic-Con in San Diego this year, so you can be sure there will be a great new trailer shown that will hint at the problems to come for everyone’s favorite serial killer, Dexter, played wonderfully by Michael C. Hall. However, until then, fans will have to settle for this new promo Showtime just released. There isn’t any footage from the new season, but it has a whole new voice-over from Dexter complete with somewhat of a recap from the last scene of season six. It’s definitely a spoiler for those who haven’t finished the last season, so proceed with caution. See the trailer after the jump.

Last chance to turn away for those of you who haven't caught up with the latest season of Showtime's Dexter. Check out the trailer for the upcoming seventh season below:

As you can see, the promo is leading into what is bound to be one of the biggest plot points of the new season: how will Dexter’s sister, Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) deal with finding out about his dark passenger? Will the writers figure out a way for Dex to get out of his increasingly slippery slope as a killer, or will they finally bring Deb in on the secret? We’ll likely find out at Comic-Con next month, so stay tuned for more on Dexter and all the good stuff that we’ll ...

With the NBC series Chuck in her past, fans of Australian hottie Yvonne Strahovski may have been wondering what the actress might do next, and thankfully, it’s something a little more edgy and dark. The seventh season of Dexter is shaping up quite nicely with Ray Stevenson and Jason Gedrick joining the cast, and now Strahovski has just landed a mutli-episode arc on the series as well which will have her working with everyone’s favorite killer of serial killers himself. Details on her character after the jump.

In the seventh season, TV Line says Miami Metro finds itself opening some old cases, and the department brings in Hannah McKay to help out. But there’s something about the strong, independent woman’s past that still haunts her, and Dexter (Michael C. Hall) thinks there’s more to her than she lets on. It’s hard to say whether or not there might be a love interest here too, especially (spoiler alert!) in the wake of the strange incestuous storyline between Dexter and his sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) which cropped up right before she saw her brother taking care of the Doomsday killer.

As of now, the only other details we know have Stevenson playing a senior member of a dangerous crime ring from Eastern Europe who comes to Miami to learn who killed one of his associates, Gedrick as the manager of a strip club, and Katia Winter as a Russian stripper under his employ. With only two season left, it’s likely we’ll see the groundwork ...

Paramount has made a welcome release date announcement today. Director Robert Zemeckis’ (Back to the Future) long-awaited return to live-action, the drama Flight, has been slated for release on November 2nd (per Box Office Mojo). Zemeckis has been making creepy motion-capture films like The Polar Express and Beowulf for the last decade, but Flight marks his first live-action feature since 2000’s Cast Away. Denzel Washington stars as an alcoholic and drug-addicted pilot who safely lands a damaged plane and is quickly heralded as a hero, despite having been under the influence during the accident. The fantastic cast includes John Goodman, Melissa Leo, and Don Cheadle. The film will square off against the R-rated comedy 21 and Over and Disney’s animated feature Wreck-It Ralph on that November date.

In order to put Flight on the 2012 release schedule, Paramount has pushed the family comedy The Guilt Trip (formerly My Mother's Curse) from October 2nd to a prime Christmas Day slot. The film centers on a mother/son road-trip and stars Seth Rogen and Barbara Streisand. The coveted December 25th date also includes Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained and Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby.

So, after two weeks of talking about it, I finally caught Steven Soderbergh's Haywire. My thoughts? I was satisfied. Not blown away. Not shaking my head in disappointment. Satisfied. Soderbergh's fight scenes were as beautifully executed as can be reasonably expected. In my opinion, though, there just weren't enough of them. David Holmes' score was fantastic when set behind said fight/chase/action sequences so, by default, there just wasn't enough of it. The same could be said for much of the ensemble cast. In large part, their screen time was time well served. There just wasn't enough of it to go around. So, do I recommend Haywire? Sure. As long as you go in with the expectation of seeing a slick action/thriller that is somewhat light on action and thrills. Now, onto business...
...After the jump, you'll find that this week's "Top 5" is comprised of the 2012 Oscar nominations, interviews from our Chuck series finale set visit, a number of interviews for both The Grey and Man on a Ledge, and an ode to all of our 2012 Sundance coverage. A quick recap and link to each follows.
1. 2012 Oscar Nominations

Let the "this person/film got snubbed" talk begin. This past Tuesday morning saw the nominees announced for the 84th Annual Academy Awards and, per usual, the most exciting conversation isn't so much "who's going to win?" as it is "why was this person/film nominated over that over person/film?". As for me? I'm just happy to see both Melissa McCarthy and Nick ...

With the two-hour series finale of Chuck airing tonight on NBC, we can finally reveal that we were on set for the filming of that last episode, where we got to interview the cast and creative team about their experiences. While everyone was clearly proud of their work and time on the show, it was also obvious that they were sad to see it go.

During the interview, show creator/writer/executive producer Chris Fedak talked about how surreal it was to be wrapping up the last couple of days on the TV series, that the final two hours will play very much like a movie, that the finale will echo all of the past seasons, and that they believe it will be as much of an emotional experience for the fans as it was for the cast to shoot it. Check out what he had to say after the jump, and be aware that there might be some spoilers.

Question: Now that you’re shooting the last episode of the series, is it a little surreal?

Chris Fedak: It’s surreal and desperate. What happens in the last couple days of a television show is that you’re freaking out because you want to get everything. You want to be sure that you have all the pieces you need, all the scenes and all the inserts. It’s a spy show, so you need a lot of digital pads with people punching in keys, and stuff like that. We know that we’re great with emotion and the ...

With the two-hour series finale of Chuck airing this week, we can finally reveal that we were on set for the filming of that last episode, where we got to interview the cast and creative team about their experiences. While everyone was clearly proud of their work and time on the show, it was also obvious that they were sad to see it go.

During the interview with co-stars Yvonne Strahovski and Adam Baldwin, they talked about how what is happening between Chuck (Zachary Levi) and Sarah (Strahovski) in the finale is going to weigh heavy on people’s hearts, how they’ve done some really gross and inappropriate behind-the-scenes pranks, how hilarious the teaming of Casey (Baldwin) and Morgan (Joshua Gomez) has been, and how they’ll be leaving with a lot of memories. Check out what they had to say after the jump, and be aware that there might be some spoilers:

Question: Adam, in the series finale, what is going to get you, as an actor, and you, as Casey, to cry?

ADAM BALDWIN: Casey doesn’t cry. I think Casey goes out with a bang, or so I’ve been told. It’s emotional. For me, I’ve been through series before where there have been endings that have been premature. With this one, while we would have loved to have had another nine episodes to get through the whole season, I think 91 episodes of a show that was on the bubble is a good long run. I feel satisfied with the course that we’ve ...

As Aaron Eckhart is slated to play the iconic monster and Bill Nighy is in talks to portray the villain, all I, Frankenstein needs now is the female lead. Enter Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck), who is in final negotiations to join the Stuart Beattie (Tomorrow, When the War Began) film. Strahovski will play a devoted scientist tricked into working for demons. Also joining the production is Miranda Otto, best known for her role as Eowyn in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The movie, planned to shoot this winter in Australia, is based on a comic by Kevin Grevioux that features a fiendish plot by demons to create an army of the undead. I, Frankenstein is currently scheduled for a February 22, 2013 release. Hit the jump for more casting details.

Casting news for I, Frankenstein comes via THR. Details on Strahovski’s role are scarce, but the report pegs her as a scientist working on reanimating the dead. This line of work plays nicely into the hands (claws?) of the demons that seek to create legions of undead soldiers.

Otto will be playing the queen of the gargoyles who aims to help Frankenstein (Eckhart). Nighy, as mentioned above, is in negotiations to play the demon leader with Socratis Otto (Home and Away), no relation, to play his right hand man (ah, so it is hands!). Socratis Otto can next be seen in Gone, starring Amanda Seyfried. (You can watch the trailer here) Click here to get caught up on all of our I, Frankenstein ...

In this, the first official Saturday of fall for countries in the Northern Hemisphere, I'm happy to report that temperatures in the Midwest are down to a brisk 60 degrees Fahrenheit. As someone who can't be in the sun/heat for more than fifteen minutes without experiencing incapacitating sunburns, this is a welcomed change to be sure. On a separate note, readers of the site may have noticed that my productivity has decreased in the last week. In a bittersweet piece of news, I've taken on full-time employment in the wide world of telecommunications thus explaining my absence. Nevertheless, I'm going to do my level best to keep the "Top 5" coming each and every weekend for as long as I can. As for today...
...In this week's installment, you can find the new, nearly four-minute trailer for David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Community interviews with Chevy Chase, Donald Glover, Danny Pudi, Gillian Jacobs and more, Killer Elite interviews with Jason Statham, Clive Owen, Yvonne Strahovski and director Gary McKendry, the first trailer for Clint Eastwood's J. Edgar and an ultra-important PSA teaching parents how to talk with their kids about Star Wars. Hit the jump for a brief recap and link to each.

1. Four-Minute Trailer for THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO

Considering I've yet to partake in Stieg Larsson's source material or Niels Arden Oplev's 2009 take, my excitement for David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo rests entirely upon the director's shoulders. His cold and ...

At some point in the script stage, Killer Elite had the potential to be a good movie. It takes two opposing characters that have equally valid, noble motives and pits them against each other. Unfortunately, that interesting premise is drowned by paper-thin characters, idiotic writing, action movie clichés, and dull set pieces. Even as a generic action movie, it falls far short of its low bar.

Danny Bryce (Jason Statham) is a mercenary who has gotten out of the game after realizing that working as a mercenary may involve splattering a child with the blood of his or her parent. Unfortunately for Danny, he's pulled in for one last job when his mentor Hunter (Robert De Niro) is kidnapped by an angry sheik who demands the deaths of the SAS operatives who killed his sons. In order to save Hunter, Danny recruits his former partners Davies (Dominic Purcell) and Meyer (Aden Young) to help out and starts tracking down the retired SAS men. However, this doesn't sit too well with a shadowy organization known as "The Feathermen" who want the SAS operatives protected and task their "attack dog" Spike (Clive Owen)—and that's the character's real name, not a code name—to investigate and stop the killings.

It's a solid premise executed as poorly as humanly possible. Since Statham is a robot capable only of physical beatings and gravel voice, the film forces him to feel bad about killing and fondly remembering his girlfriend Anne (Yvonne Strahovski). Meanwhile, the film trusts a real actor ...

At this year's Toronto Film Festival, I was able to land an exclusive interview with Yvonne Strahovski for her new action-thriller Killer Elite. Starring Clive Owen, Robert De Niro, Jason Statham and Strahovski, the flick centers on a retired special ops agent (Statham) who is tasked with rescuing his mentor (De Niro). I caught the film at TIFF and if you're a fan Statham and the rest of the cast, it's definitely worth seeing.

During the interview, Strahovski talked about how she got involved in the project, the great cast, what's coming up on the final season of Chuck, if there's a chance they could do more than 13 episodes, what it's been like on set with this being the final season, and her experience at Comic-Con this summer. In addition, she talked about filming My Mother's Curse with Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand, and I also asked what her karaoke song is and the last video game she's played. Hit the jump for the interview.

As usual, I'm offering two ways to get the interview: you can either click here for the audio or the full transcript is below. Killer Elite opens this weekend.

Collider: I'm going to start off by asking what your go to karaoke song is?

Yvonne Strahovski: I’m scared of karaoke. I think if I did have a go to karaoke song, it would be “Whatta Man” by Salt-n-Pepa. [laughs]

That is an interesting one. Marc Forster is German and has a thick accent and ...

Four clips from the action flick Killer Elite have gone online. The convoluted plot centers on a retired special-ops agent (Jason Statham) who must leave his peaceful life and do some more murdering in order to free his mentor (Robert De Niro). Meanwhile, he's being tracked by former SAS operative (Clive Owen) who works for a shadowy organization known as The Feathermen. If these clips give you the impression that the film isn't very good, then these clips honestly represent the movie.

Hit the jump to check out the clips. Killer Elite opens September 23rd.

Here's the inaccurate official synopsis for Killer Elite:
Based on a true story, Killer Elite races across the globe from Australia to Paris, London and the Middle East in the action-packed account of an ex-special ops agent (Jason Statham) who is lured out of retirement to rescue his mentor (Robert De Niro). To make the rescue, he must complete a near-impossible mission of killing three tough-as-nails assassins with a cunning leader (Clive Owen).
Clive Owen isn't the leader of the "tough-as-nails" assassins and the "tough-as-nails" assassins are former SAS operatives who legitimately killed the sons of a sheik and now the sheik wants revenge. Here are the clips:
