The first trailer for Taken 3 proves that we, as a people, want to keep punishing Liam Neeson so he can keep kicking ass. This dude just cannot catch a fucking break. But, luckily, he has skills (something I’m sure you’re aware of) and 12 of those skills have now been highlighted in a new trailer that (somewhat awkwardly) pays homage to the “12 Days of Christmas.” Still, it’s refreshing to see Neeson take on new life as an action star, even if we’re entering the overdoing it phase in regard to the sheer amount of action output he’s involved in these days. Let’s get him back in a drama at some point, just to mix things up.
Hit the jump to check out a new Taken 3 trailer that will get you in the Christmas spirit and potentially reinvest you in Neeson’s exploits to protect his daughter, Kim (Maggie Grace). Taken 3 hits theaters on January 9, 2015 and also stars Forest Whitaker, Dougray Scott, Sam Spruell and Leland Orser.

Here’s the official synopsis for Taken 3:
Liam Neeson returns as ex-covert operative Bryan Mills, whose reconciliation with his ex-wife is tragically cut short when she is brutally murdered. Consumed with rage, and framed for the crime, he goes on the run to evade the relentless pursuit of the CIA, FBI and the police. For one last time, Mills must use his “particular set of skills,” to track down the real killers, exact his unique brand of justice, and protect the only thing that matters to him now – his daughter.
