Rescuing your daughter from human traffickers and then going up against Albanian mobsters out for vengeance is some serious stuff, but this first trailer for Taken 3 features a far graver situation and rocks a darker tone than one might expect. Turns out, Famke Janssen won’t be in the third installment much because Liam Neeson’s character is actually framed for her murder.
Hit the jump to check out a new poster and the very first Taken 3 trailer to find out how Neeson goes about using his very particular set of skills to protect the only thing he has left, his daughter, Kim (Maggie Grace). Taken 3 hits theaters on January 9, 2015 and also stars Forest Whitaker, Dougray Scott, Sam Spruell and Leland Orser.
Here’s the official synopsis for Taken 3:
Liam Neeson returns as ex-covert operative Bryan Mills, whose reconciliation with his ex-wife is tragically cut short when she is brutally murdered. Consumed with rage, and framed for the crime, he goes on the run to evade the relentless pursuit of the CIA, FBI and the police. For one last time, Mills must use his “particular set of skills,” to track down the real killers, exact his unique brand of justice, and protect the only thing that matters to him now – his daughter.
