Given that its Thanksgiving week, the offerings by way of new Blu-rays are slim.  That said, there are still a couple of fun items hitting shelves this Tuesday.  Briefly:

Hit the jump for all the details.

The Expendables 2 [Blu-ray + Digital Copy + UltraViolet]

The star-studded action extravaganza sequel is now available on home video, and it actually comes with some fascinating bonus features.  The bonus features include an audio commentary with director Simon West, a 20-minute featurette on the film’s casting called Gods of War: Assembling Earth’s Mightiest Anti-Heroes, a 25-minute featurette detailing the iconic action films of the 1980s, a short featurette on the weapons of the film hosted by Randy Coture, and another featurette that centers on real-life mercenaries.  Moreover, the Blu-ray includes some deleted scenes and a gag reel.

Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season (Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) (Collector's Edition)

The first season of HBO’s massively popular fantasy series Game of Thrones hits Blu-ray…again.  This limited edition includes all 10 episodes of the show’s first season on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital copy as well as a dragon egg paperweight, limited edition packaging, and a bonus Blu-ray disc that includes the first episode of season two.  The set includes all the same bonus material that was previously released on the Blu-ray and DVD sets for season one.

Heaven's Gate (Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray]

Though it was critically derided upon its initial release, the epic Heaven’s Gate has now been given the honor of being inducted into the Criterion Collection.  The Blu-ray includes a short featurette on the film’s restoration, a half-hour documentary recorded in 2012 in which director Michael Cimino and producer Joann Carelli discuss the project’s inception and production history, another 2012 feature in which Kris Kristofferson discusses the film, a short featurette on David Mansfield, and a video interview with second assistant director Michael Stevenson.  The disc also includes a teaser and a TV spot, as well as an illustrated booklet with an essay by critic Giulia D’Agnolo Vallan.

Tarantino XX 8-Film Collection [Blu-ray] (Pulp Fiction/Inglourious Basterds/Reservoir Dogs/Kill Bill Vol. 1/Kill Bill Vol. 2/Jackie Brown/Death Proof/True Romance)

The best release of this week’s Blu-ray bag is undoubtedly the 20-year anniversary box set celebrating writer/director Quentin Tarantino.  The set includes all of his directorial films on Blu-ray, as well as the Tony Scott-helmed True Romance which QT famously scripted.  The box set also has special features galore, including a nearly five-hour feature called “Critics Corner: The Films of Quentin Tarantino.”  This feature is essentially a collection of discussions about Tarantino’s films, many of which have appeared on previous DVD and Blu-ray releases.

The other cornerstone feature runs over two hours long and is called “Quentin Tarantino: 20 Years of Filmmaking.” It acts as a career retrospective that encompasses the auteur’s entire career.  Also included is a Jackie Brown Q&A at LACMA and a collection of trailers for Django Unchained.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Complete Series

It’s Morphin Time!  I’m breaking with tradition by including this release here given that it’s not a Blu-ray, but I figured some readers might be interested to know that every episode of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is now available in a tidy box set.  The 40-disc DVD set includes all seven seasons of the kid-favorite series and is packed with extras including retrospective documentaries, Christmas specials, cast featurettes, and much more.
