It's a year away but that's no excuse.  Yahoo! Movies has just posted the teaser trailer for "Despicable Me", the upcoming animated film starring Steve Carell as Gru, a super-villain who spends his times stealing world monuments and is currently perfecting his plan to steal the moon.  As Tim Robbins so eloquently put it in the second "Austin Powers" movie, "Would you miss it?"  It would significantly cut down on werewolf attacks so is Gru really so despicable?  Also, this teaser is out of date as "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" taught us that we don't really care whether the Pyramids are real or not.  I'm not convinced this Gru character is all that despicable.

Hit the jump to check out the teaser trailer and a brief synopsis.  "Despicable Me" is slated to hit theatres on July 9th, 2010.

In a happy suburban neighborhood surrounded by white picket fences with flowering rose bushes, sits a black house with a dead lawn. Unbeknown to the neighbors, hidden beneath this home is a vast secret hideout. Surrounded by a small army of minions, we discover Gru (Steve Carell), planning the biggest heist in the history of the world. He is going to steal the moon (Yes, the moon!) in Universal's new 3-D CGI feature, "Despicable Me."

Gru delights in all things wicked. Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays, and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way. Until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned girls who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad.

The world's greatest villain has just met his greatest challenge: three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes.
